Scoop: PresidentTrump is pulling U.S. out of Paris climate deal

LOL

The mayor of Pittsburgh just owned Donald Trump so hard

Peduto also said that Hildebeast got 80% of the vote in Pittsburgh while ignoring the fact that like most big cities, Pittsburgh is so Democratic that a dead cat would get 80% of the vote.

Well spoken.

Senator Jeff Merkley

This decision may be a win for Steve Bannon and Scott Pruitt and those who share their extremist views, but it’s a loss for everyone else. If completed, Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris agreement will put the United States in the company of only two other nations on earth that do not belong to the pact: Nicaragua, which believes the agreement doesn’t go far enough, and Syria, which is in the midst of a horrific civil war.

The American business community, including 58 Fortune 500 CEOs, strongly supports the Paris agreement. These businesses know that withdrawing will cede American leadership on the world stage, and diminish American economic opportunity. If we don’t aggressively lead the clean energy revolution, other nations will beat us—and they will capture the rewards in growing jobs and prosperity.

Climate disruption is a planetary crisis, and we need every nation on the front lines of this battle. For America to retreat is a massive failure of leadership at a critical moment. An American retreat is great for the economies of China and India, and terrible for America’s economy. Donald Trump should quit damaging the American economy, and reverse this reckless and shortsighted decision.

Donald Trump has now pissed off the damn Weather Channel
http://www.avclub.com/article/donald-trump-has-now-pissed-damn-weather-channel-256201?utm_content=Main&utm_campaign=SF&utm_source=Facebook&utm_medium=SocialMarketing

For its part, The Weather Channel is doing the closest thing to a scream, responding to today’s developments with a full-homepage troll of the president:

1200.jpg

The linked articles go on to detail the specific political ramifications of leaving the Paris accord, the decimation of the pine barrens, a longform exploration of the effects of warming waters on lobster populations, a rebuttal to the widely held belief that middle America will somehow be spared from the destruction of the planet, an extremely timely update on the enormous crack presently tearing apart Antarctica, a video update on the fact that the poles are turning green, visual evidence that California’s coastline is being eaten by the rising ocean, and, finally, video of our president, deciding that none of that **** matters.

Many of these articles are surfaced from deep within The Weather Channel’s archives, implying that it is not ******* around with this ****. It is only a matter of time until he declares weather itself a liberal construct and forces Sean Spicer to renounce all conversation about the weather as fake news. Last December, the once-stoic weather resource was forced to wade into the **** to renounce Breitbart, implying that the anthropocene will be marked not just by radical shifts in the Earth’s temperature and weather patterns but also by staid informational resources like The Weather Channel and the ******* dictionary lacing up their boxing gloves to knock the **** out of the luddites intent on watching us all boil.

They keep electing these clowns and Pittsburgh will start down a bad road.

Also, that Yale research is bullshit. Here is the polling question - One year ago, the United States signed an international agreement in Paris with 196 other countries to limit the pollution that causes global warming. Do you think the U.S. should participate in this agreement, or not participate? Really?

Never mind that 99% of those respondents probably had no idea what is in the accord. The funny thing is that now you all have gone from science by selective consensus, to another shady consensus by embedding that "science" as a premise. It's a ******* pyramid scheme.

Donald Trump has now pissed off the damn Weather Channel

Oh. MY. GOD. We better all run and hide now, corrupt meteorologists are PISSED off.

LOL.

What a GREAT day. First, the UN...."pay your fair share" now this. Maybe, unlike the illegitimate President prior, we can now keep money at home and invest in the homeless, Veterans and the like v shipping it overseas to corrupt organizations looking to redistribute wealth.

Well spoken, part II.

Congressman Joe Kennedy III

Confronting climate change is not just about the cities and towns under water tomorrow, it is about the children, families, businesses and communities suffering the consequences today – in rising energy costs, lost jobs, crumbling infrastructure, and strapped municipal budgets. Under the Paris Climate Agreement, a global community of different beliefs, nationalities, languages, economies and ecosystems united against one common enemy that threatens the health and safety of us all. Today the President left Americans to fend for themselves.

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse

Donald Trump and his children said just a few years ago that climate change was ‘irrefutable’ and its consequences ‘catastrophic and irreversible.’ They were right. There is no denying the growing threat of rising seas, warming global temperatures, and melting glaciers and ice sheets.

But we can still avoid the worst if we quickly reduce carbon emissions. That is why ignoring reality and leaving the Paris Agreement could go down as one of the worst foreign policy blunders in our nation’s history, isolating the U.S. further after Trump’s shockingly bad European trip.

Trump is betraying the country, in the service of Breitbart fake news, the shameless fossil fuel industry, and the Koch brothers’ climate denial operation. It’s sad.

America’s biggest corporations and investors urged the President to stick with international efforts to address the climate threat. They and all of us will now have to proceed with a seriousness of purpose commensurate with the threat, knowing of this President’s grave defects.

If you haven’t joined an environmental group, join one. If your voice needs to be heard, get active. If you are a big corporation with good climate policies that has shied away from engaging politically, it’s time to engage. And if you’re a university that teaches climate science, it’s time to stand up for your scientists. Whoever you are, help end climate denial and take action.

Am departing presidential councils. Climate change is real. Leaving Paris is not good for America or the world.

Disappointed with today’s decision on the Paris Agreement. Climate change is real. Industry must now lead and not depend on government.

Ouch. Trump, leading from behind.

Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein tweeted for the first time ever today to blast President Trump for his decision to withdraw from the Paris climate change agreement.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Today's decision is a setback for the environment and for the U.S.'s leadership position in the world. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/ParisAgreement?src=hash">#ParisAgreement</a></p>— Lloyd Blankfein (@lloydblankfein) <a href="https://twitter.com/lloydblankfein/status/870389673193082880">June 1, 2017</a></blockquote>

The Paris Accord was designed to cripple America, transfer jobs and production to other nations improving their economies and hurting ours. It was designed by globalists and former limp-dicked terrorist president to HURT America. Morons on the Left who want us in that agreement are the same idiots who wanted Obamacare passed without reading the bill first. Trump was heroic today.

Pittsburgh's mayor is a dumbass. U.S. Steel should move their headquarters to Indianapolis where they would be appreciated. Plus it's closer to their mills in Gary, Detroit and Granite City.

I am happy with this. The very fact that we are/were in this type of **** the US agreement speaks volumes as to how the previous admin felt about America. Im sick of America being the standard to which everything is held....and we bend over backwards to appease the bleeding hearts...only to have it bite US in the *** later.

Say what you want, this was defintely a big win for the oil lobby and the dubious money backing the climate change denial movement. What happened to draining the swamp?

The big-money supporters got a return on their investment last week, when 22 Republican senators whose campaigns have collected more than $10m in oil, gas and coal money since 2012 sent a letter to the president urging him to withdraw from the Paris deal.

Visible donations to Republicans from those industries exceeded donations to Democrats in the 2016 election cycle by a ratio of 15-to-1, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. And that does not include so-called dark money passed from oil interests such as Koch industries to general slush funds to re-elect Republicans such as the Senate leadership fund.

At least $90m in untraceable money has been funneled to Republican candidates from oil, gas and coal interests in the past three election cycles, according to Federal Election Commission disclosures analyzed by the Center for Responsive Politics.

So 90+10 = $100M dollars. Good to know what money can buy.

James Inhofe, Oklahoma

Consider these facts. There's got to be a way to start living in the today.

Solar and wind energy, in their current phase, are more jobs-intensive than oil. The entire Keystone XL pipeline only takes about 50 workers to maintain, according to the company that created it.
http://www.sciencedirect.com/…/article/pii/S026499931630709X
Last year more than twice as many people were employed in the solar sector than in coal mining, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
https://energy.gov/…/2017%20US%20Energy%20and%20Jobs%20Repo…
Between 2010 and 2016, solar grew by over 20 percent every year, according to the Energy Department finding. In many states, growth was even stronger.
The renewable energy sector today is not only creating more jobs than fossil fuels, but also has a larger "multiplier effect," a measure of ancillary economic benefits, according to a recent economic analysis. Whereas $1 million spent on fossil fuels supports the equivalent of 2.6 full-time jobs, the same amount supports more than 7 jobs when spent on wind or solar energy.
In the real world, truth is truth and facts are facts.

Wait, what? The meteorologists at the Weather Channel are now corrupt? Are they too part of some sort of secret, global warming cabal? Wait, never mind, don't answer that.

I certainly believe they are forced by the network to tow the line on climate change. We just don't have enough knowledge of the climate and how it works or enough accurate worldwide global data over the span of the earth to really know what the **** we are talking about.Climate scientists could be dead on or they could be completely off base. We just don't know. What we do know is that we pollute the air on a local level and can do something about that. We should fix the things we can fix and I truly believe the rest will work itself out.

Hey if those so heavily interested in being part of the Paris Climate Accord really feel that giving them their hard earned dollars is going to make a difference then by all means write them a check. I'm sure they'll take it.

It's easy to give away other people's money.

It's just weather. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes it's cold. We do not affect it in any way. Global warming / climate change was invented by libtards and today it got smacked the **** down! Today was a great day.

Yeah, let the mayors of Pittsburgh and New York hurt their local economies, idiots. The Federal government isn't going to be scratching checks to other nations over this bullshit.

When the rest of the world holds up their end, we can then look at it again. The issue is, Obama's admin was hell bent on following it and upping the ante every few years, the rest were just paying lip service, and most likely would never have met their obligations.

Speaking of contortions, it's incredible that you are trying to correlate that to AGW. By the way, it's generally accepted that there was no warming at all from 1998 - 2014, so you'll need to find another factor for 50% of that increase.

What is the reason for the increase then? Is it the mythical cycle that deniers can't define?

Of course there was warming from 98 to 14. The RATE of warming slowed slightly but the trend continued. That's just more denier nonsense that has been thoroughly debunked.
