Steelers Draft Rumors

Here is the way I see it. I really like Broderick Jones. I'm sure Carter is a hell of a football player. I really do not want Addison. However, I'm not trading Jordan Addison and say Dan Campbell for either of those players. As far as Devin White goes the Bucs don't even have a QB on the roster. If they are willing to let him go with a ton of cap room coming up ask yourself why?

The last couple of years the steelers seem to be doing this rumor mill ****, leaking info, and I don't like it. Keep this **** tight to the vest. based on the whole malik willis BS last year, anytime I hear the Steelers love player X, it means player X isn't going to be a Steeler. We are in the Age of Khan, and it's based on deception.

Sask--totally agree on the Broderick and Carter---
I do not want to see us use an early pick on Addison at all!
Campbell - I would consider at 17...but behind several tackles...

I really want Campbell on the Steelers but would risk it to get him at 32. They can do better at 17.

I hope there is no move up. There will be a “starter” player at 1.17 and 2.1, so no need to move up. It is a very talented and deep draft. Dew Sanders will be around at 32 and possibly 49 if there feel they need to go that’s direction at ILB.

We have bigger needs than to trade early draft picks to obtain one player. We need all three with our first three picks.

Salute the nation
I agree and we shouldn't trade back just to get more picks in later rounds. Quality over quantity. If we did our homework and pick right, we can easily get starters or significant contributors in year 1 with our first 3 and maybe 4 picks. It's now up to the brain trust to make it happen. I know it's not our top need but I'm starting to get the same feeling about Van Ness that I did about Watt. Watt was my guy that year. Van Ness is big enough and athletic enough to play EDGE or move inside. He could even add a little weight and play DE. Him opposite Watt would be lethal and especially if they can't find a reasonable price to sign Highsmith. If they sign Highsmith, Van Ness will play more inside but can also spell Watt or Highsmith on the outside. Oh, and we can keep the Iowa connection going and grab Campbell with our 2nd pick in round 2. I don't know. I just don't know. What I do know is if they have Stevenson from Miami with a round 1 grade it smells like Artie Burns all over again when they were the only team to have him with a round 1 grade. Stevenson will probably be there with our 2nd pick in round 2 or even our 3rd round pick.

Bucs have no cap room. they're essentially having to start a rebuild.

White wants no part of that, and for obvious reasons.

agree with the rest of your post, though

Last year was a Colbert draft. So, any leaks that may or may not have happened would have been during the Age of Colbert.

Keep your powder dry and stick at @17. I would wait until the QB circus unfolds in front of us. Young, Stroud, Levis, and Richardson could be top-ten picks. Don't rule out Hooker from Tennessee if a QB needy GM loses his mind. It's happened before. Carter, Anderson, and Wilson are top-ten picks as well. I still like the CB-OT flip for 17 and 32. The value is there. It doesn't matter which position just depends on who falls where. I have to believe that either Gonzalez, Porter JR., or Witherspoon get through to 17. If not then one of the OTs has to come our way. It's a numbers game. You're sitting pretty @ 17, 32, 49, and 80. If some team offers a Herschel Walker-type deal then listen. If not stay put.

Ok but Brady's 35 million goes off the book. They could keep White easily. But that doesn't mean he wants to stay. Honestly he was great in their SB run but looked ok last year.

yeah, white asked to be traded.
Bucs arent actively shopping him.

and if i was the Bucs FO, I'd not be shopping him either.

If your looking at a point chart, the 17th and 49th pick is about 10 points higher than number 9. I don't see them giving up 17 and 32. That 32nd pick is going to attract allot of interest after day one is over and could easily garner a couple more day two picks if they were so inclined.
Amen. I'm done reading...

That trade wasn’t concocted by me. It was a rumor from national sources that may have originated from the Houston media. It was making the rumor mill rounds last week

Based off of DJ’s production and contract, and what other comparable wrs went for around last years draft, this is absolutely fair market value… maybe even a slight overpayment on the Steelers part…
So you're saying Coolie concocted it. Nice...

Hooker might creep into the first round based on current trends, but ideally he lasts till round 2 and someone overpays for pick 32 to get him.

I think Hooker will go first round because somebody will panic. I wasn't implying he would be top ten. I should have clarified that. Sorry.

A lot of rumors flying right now.

1. Steelers move up to draft a tackle, as high as 12.
2. Teams are calling for the No. 17 pick.
3. No. 32 could go for a trade down in the second for a third and fourth or fifth.

It seems viable the Steelers could trade up to draft a tackle and then down from 32 to add another mid-round pick. Anyone in favor or against these types of moves?

More in favor of trading up at 17 for a T than down. Only scenerio I am up for trading up, a LT.

I think they will think hard for trading 32 away and adding to their picks. Good depth in just about every area of need minus LT, so ok with that as well.

I feel confident if they trade up from 17 they'll definitely try to move down from 32. There is so much smoke for an OT right now, you have to wonder if it'll be the same old Steelers or if they've changed their draft strategy and won't be as transparent as most years.

All I want is a repeat of 1974.

I have a question. There are 4 tackles in the top 20. One apparently they don't want but that still leaves three of Skoronski, Johnson and Jones. So subtract three for Qs that is three out of 13. Has anyone done the math of the teams in front of the Steelers whether they have Tackle needs or they don't have more pressing needs. Like think it's stupid to trade a premium pick when I'd take any of those three.

Bears, Patriots, Titans, Jets, Washington, Bucs (trade up)

If the Steelers sit at 17, the following could be gone by the time they pick:
4 QBs
4 Offensive Tackles
3 CBs
3-4 Edge
1 DT
Of the positions they need, there's a big drop off at OT after Skoronski, Jones, Johnson and possibly Wright. At CB, Gonzalez, Witherspoon and possibly JPJ are gone before the Steelers pick. DT - Carter's going in the first 10 picks.
All of the above is speculation. But, if they don't want to be stuck taking a lesser player at a position they are looking to upgrade or taking WR, TE or some other position that would be a "luxury" pick, they should consider packaging 17 and 49 to move up and get a player they believe is "special".
It will be interesting to see what they do.

Given the rumors they want to trade up for a tackle, it’s probably more likely for a CB.
