Yeah, I think Tomlin sucks and all the rest, but Le'Veon Bell is really special. Reminds me of one of those guys I'd watch for in the highlights back in the day. Too often I see RBs and WRs slide out of bounds when it seems like they could cut back into the field and make something happen. Seems like Bell is always looking to make the cut back if there is anything there, and he is just a fun guy to watch. He is always fun to watch, and this team can be fun to watch. The last few years that element has been missing and made our suckiness almost unbearable to watch.

We've got some exciting top-tier talent on offense this year. I hope it won't all be squandered, but at least it's fun to watch.

Nice to see NE getting spanked by KC...that's fun too.

I agree. And I think Wheaton is going to be special too, kid's got great hands. If we can hold on to Wheaton and A.Brown for a while, we'll be ok at the WR position.

I could care less about the offense I like defense and I like linebackers. Could be the reason I don't get into watching this team

Plenty of other bandwagons for you to jump on:rolleyes:

The NFL is changing into an offense oriented game.

I can appreciate a good "glass is half full" attitude...............

Agreed, we have loads of talent on the offensive side of the ball. We just need the coaches to (Tomlin/HAILEY) to ensure they're used in the right situations, not like what we saw on that 3 and 5 debacle last Sunday.

The offense has no identity. They run individual plays in individual formations without forethought to what they will run later. Is this a spread offense? Sometimes. Is it a power running offense? Sometimes. The problem is that they don't have anything they can hang their hat on. There is no base under the offense. If someone asked you what type of offense the Steelers run what would you say?

Shouldn't this be in the pom pom thread? j/k :p

The offense is still trying to be a run first team. The league has gone away from that and we are not built to do it. Sure, we have great backs right now. But, our strength is when Ben is in the shot gun and going no-huddle. Why we continue to try the same old, same old that we know doesn't work is the exact definition of craziness and stupidity. We need to have Ben in the shot gun and running the no-huddle at least two-thirds and maybe even 75% of the time. You sprinkle in a little of the slow stuff to keep teams thinking about it.

We absolutely should have had Ben in the shot gun even on the last offensive series we had. We NEEDED at least one first down to ice the game. They knew we were going to run and we did. Then we had a stupid penalty. If Ben throws on first and gets a first down, not only does that probably allow us to run out the clock but even if we didn't, it would have given much less time to Tampa and much worse starting field position. All we needed was ten damn yards there and Haley had Ben go under center. 9 men in the box. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Play to your strengths and make the other team stop you.

An "almost scores enough to bail out the D type of offense"?

Not sure either. At times we look strong running the ball and other times, We show off a decent passing attack. I'm with you and can agree that an identity needs to be established. Oh, and how many stupid trick plays have we seen so far in just 4 games? Is it just me or are they calling more of these plays than what we've seen before?

Trick plays are only stupid if they don't work. I was kinda fond of the Mularkey era, kept me interested in what would be next. Whiz also would throw a bunch of trick plays in the game plan. Maybe these guys just need to execute them better ?

PITTSBURGH -- After their Dec. 4 victory over the Steelers, Bengals receiver Chad Johnson joked about the torch passing in the AFC North and how the change was like going from black-and-white television to color, obviously a slap at the Steelers' conservative running style. Those comments were on the tongues of Steelers players following their 31-17 victory Sunday in the AFC wild-card round. While the Steelers customarily pound opponents with running plays, they have some of the most creative gadget plays in football. Not since Dan Reeves' days in Denver or maybe Don Coryell's days in San Diego has an offense come up with such creative trickery.

I would prefer the old Steelers 4yds and a cloud of Dust. Hold the ball for 40 minutes. Keep the Defense off the field. Then when the opposing team has to put 9 on the line of scrimmage to stop the run hit them over the top with a pass. RINSE REPEAT!!!!!!

Its only a failed gadget play, when it fails. I feel like we have been more successful than not. I like them, but realize they need to be executed at the right time. I hope we don't over do them, cause that takes the effective "surprise" away.

Salute the nation

The excitement will fade soon. You can only watch great individual performances in loosing team efforts for so long before you tire of them.

They may be fun to watch now, but who really wants them to be the Barry Sanders Lions?

I'm enjoying watching the offense, and I am excited about the young ILBs and enjoy watching them improve.

If I was to identify this offense, I would call it a Balanced Attack.
