Steelers Have A Deal In Place For Brandon Aiyuk

Do we know they haven't already done this? The only thing we know is a bunch of people, likely without good sources, ramped up all this talk a couple of weeks ago and the major national insiders basically had to report on it because the rumors were out of control.
As totally planned. Masses and masses of "rumors."

Except that Bell was being "used up" by Tomlin (shocker) with so many carries in the meantime. Bell thought he had to force his departure for his big payday instead of waiting. He may have been right in some respects.
That, also he was injury-prone and I think he didn’t want to play at all the year before he was a FA.

Other than the 1 year he missed the playoffs, I didn't consider Bell "injury prone." He usually had a ton of touches. How many games had he missed?

Total BS and typical revisionist response. Then again, you are Coach and your private love fest for Tomlin handicaps your intelligence. Bell was offered the largest RB multi year contract PIT ever presented. He didn’t listen to his agent, who was way over his head in handling his client, he didn’t listen to his NFLPA rep, he even didn't listen to his own mother who told him to take the offer. What he did do was state “he wanted to reset the RB market”. Then play under the tag. Then come in after the last preseason game. Then sit out until week six (so he could accrue a season for vet status), thinking he would be traded. The last thing PIT was going to do. Finally he stupidly sat out the net year in his prime which destroyed his trade value. As being “used up”….its no wonder you have idiotic tendencies. What drives big contracts? Production. That production is based on the position. No RB would get paid unless he produces on the field. Bell did as a he got tons of touches because of his skill set (rushes/catches). I guess HOF Marshall Faulk was used up as he had more touches than Bell in his first 5 years in the league. Yet Faulk played 12 years. Yeah “used up”…GTFOH.

Belichick wanted him badly and said he would have used him more. But not after sitting out a season.

Other than the Burfict injury (2018?) which he did on purpose on the sideline no less, Bell missed 6 games in the 5 years in PIT. He sat out the last game regular season in 2017 as they already clinched playoff. I wouldn’t call that injury prone….thats why you have good RB depth.

Didnt Bell come out this past year and admit he was wrong and should have signed Steelers deal? I might have made that up. not sure

Not sure if you included the suspension time or not. I think he was suspended 4, but reduced because of a miscommunication on appointment time.

Just going out of memory.

Ike with a concurrent history of making CoochLloyd look silly. Not that it takes a lot to accomplish that feat. Still it is nice to see.

😁

That would be known as SPECULATION .

He played a full season in two of his four years here.

Jan 22, 2017NFLInguinal Groin Sports HerniaCoach Mike Tomlin admitted Bell had been playing through a groin issue late in the year. But Bell never appeared on the injury report. He underwent surgery in mid-March, 2017.

I see this thread has moved on from Aiyuk. Does that mean we have all accepted that he is staying in San Francisco and the Steelers are just going to have to keep playing the scrap heap at receiver?

No, no, no, any day now, just wait. :ROFLMAO:
I read that there is still a 50/50 chance we make the deal. I will be holding my breath until it happens.

Considering how many touches and yards he had, that's not so bad on the injury front.

I don't think Aiyuk has ever had any intention of leaving San Fran. This feels like it's been nothing but a smoke screen from him and his people to get the 49ers to give him more money. It sounds like both the Patriots and the Browns were willing to pay him what he wanted, but he refused to go to either team and sign a contract if traded there (if the media can be believed). I really don't know how serious the Steelers have been, but Aiyuk's people and the media have been making it seem like it's going to happen any day now with the Steelers for five months. I don't blame him since he will put up big numbers again in their system as a number 2 and get a chance to possibly play in the Super Bowl. In the end, Aiyuk will get paid and get to skip the preseason. Like most other preseason holdouts, he will be out with a hamstring injury within the first two weeks.

Steelers address WR in next year's draft. Emeka Egbuka out of OSU makes too much sense. But what the hell do I know? :ROFLMAO:
DE, CB, and WR (depending on if they trade and extend) These are the areas I think they address.

I think at QB they go with one of the options on the roster or hit free agency.

I think most of Aiyuk situation is media driven. I do think the Steelers made a firm offer and SF rejected it. I don't think the Steelers keep upping the ante and whatever they gave SF is what you see what you get. Aiyuk would make the steelers better, but I think they need all their draft picks

1. WR/DE/safety - should be picks 1, 2, 3 IMO which ever has the best value in each round. The Steelers are solid at CB with Porter, Jackson, Bishop, Trice, and Sutton. Outside of Minkha, you have three Safeties who are decent but an upgrade here would be fantastic.

I would put safety lower on the list. We need to find Heywards replacement he can't have much left in the tank. WR also has to be up there unless Wilson and CAIII really catch on. Not sure what the QB class looks like, but I think we would have to consider that as well. If there is an elite safety still on the board then I would not be upset if we went that route

They are still figuring out their inside CB. Jackson was a trade so while I think he will be adequate a whole season will better gage that. Trice is a mystery at this point.
