The Hypocrisy of Hollywood

What? She has not been saying that people that falsely accuse shouldn't face punishment. Hell, I'm upset that Crystal Mangum didn't get charges brought against her for the bullshit she pulled. That being said, in a business they don't follow the same rule of law, Innocent until proven guilty, they do, however, weigh out all things before making a decision. Honestly, most cases are word against word, so in your scenario the woman would lose out every time because there would be no concrete proof. Hell, you know what......we should roll the clocks back about 20 or 30 years for you so we can go back to women just shutting the **** up for fear of losing their job while they watch sexual harassing jack ***** move up in the company.

It's ok honey, you just sit back shut up and look pretty.

When Mary Sue claims Jimmy patted her *** in the lunch room and the key card entry system shows Jimmy was entering the parking garage when Mary Sue says it happened you know for a FACT Mary Sue is lying about the incident. When Jenny says Bob is telling dirty jokes constantly and Jerry who sits in the cubical across from Bob says he has never heard Bob speak to Jenny outside of work related issues you know for a FACT Jenny is lying about the incident. How about we have actual equality without giving women special protected status?

Its okay sweetie you just smile and look pleasant for the customers.

I "know" someone who was molested for years by her mother's roommate. The fear of not being believed is very compelling. When it was revealed the community was 50/50 on lies to get attention vs she wouldn't lie about something like that. Ten years later a trail of victims make it obvious that her account was factual. Vindication did not feel like a victory at all.

Here’s the truth about false accusations of sexual violence
.

That's an opinion piece. Not truth.

Let's just gloss over the numbers I put out there that somewhere between 10000 to nearly 50000 lives are ruined by these false accusations.

**CRICKETS**

Shhhh...those lives don't matter.

How many people here on the board wanted the facts to come out on Big Ben before passing judgment? How many people thought he was innocent until proven guilty? How many people
thought the accuser was lying? How many people thought that his suspension was unjust?

Oh how times have changed.

Just remember if 90% of the accusations are right, this new movement of "accusations rule" is a good thing. **** the 10% that have their lives ruined. That's irrelevant, we are addressing the majority.

If Ben’s story had happened now, he’d be gone. No second chances. Heck- if EITHER of his stories had come out.... you all get my drift. But it’s OK to wait on THOSE facts but not on anyone else’s. Got it.

Isn’t that Tim’s point? Facts over accusations?

It is Always right to get the facts before passing judgement. It was right in Ben’s situation and it’s right now.

Yes. And that has been my point from the very beginning. Just reiterating it. And I don’t think I can reiterate enough.

What happened with Ben is exactly what should have happened. The allegations were investigated and found to be baseless. Last time I checked Ben was still a QB in the NFL with millions of dollars, a wife and 3 kids.

So how have times changed? Who believes the facts shouldn't come out before passing judgement?

Tim, that;s just a bullshit argument and you know it. No one here has said that false accusations are irrelevant. No one. No one has said "accusations rule". No one.

Case after case after case of multiple accusers, egregious behavior, photos, texts, audio recordings, admissions of guilt = NOT A WITCHHUNT. That's all I'm saying. It's not a witchhunt if the vast majority are actually guilty. You don't ignore all the guilty people because some innocent people also get accused. Of course, you do everything you can to investigate and evaluate and rule out the possibility of a completely false accusation. No one is saying you shouldn't do that. No one is arguing that. You're just setting up a big strawman to knock it down over and over again.

The media. The sheep who lap up stories like this like water. Any person who is celebrating men losing their livelihoods over ALLEGATIONS.

Ben would have been ******. What's her face would have been proudly waving her #Metoo banner all over her social media pages and been a brave, heroic figure hero in the media. Another face of the "movement". Ben would be finished before any details had a chance to come out. Wouldn't matter if the truth came out later, damage would have been done.

Who is lapping up stories? Why should someone not believe men are guilty when they are admitting guilt? Who is celebrating anything, beyond being glad that maybe we might have a future where humiliating and demeaning women in the workplace will no longer be acceptable? No one's celebrating any person being falsely accused.

Exactly. Heck- as it is now, he still gets called a rapist and sexual predator.

I watch a few mainstream morning news shows- NBC. Every time someone new is accused of some sort of misconduct, the reporters are almost joyful when reporting it. The one chick Frances Rivera has a hard time keeping a smile off her face. It's disgusting. And the reports always say "UNCONFIRMED ALLEGATIONS." But the man in question has already been labeled.

Mister chill up his leg gets called out.

NBC paid off producer who accused Chris Matthews of harassment, report says

NBC paid thousands of dollars to an assistant producer on MSNBC's "Hardball with Chris Matthews" nearly two decades ago after she brought a sexual harassment complaint against the longtime host, The Daily Caller reported Saturday.

The website, citing two sources, reported that NBC paid the woman $40,000 to settle her claim against Matthews in 1999. An NBC spokesperson told The Daily Caller the network paid a smaller, unspecified amount as part of a severance package.

As is your persistent hounding of me and putting words in my mouth. No one here fighting for the 10% is saying that the 90% shouldn't be able to come forward...but that's how you somehow keep interpreting it.

So yeah, I call bullshit.

Accusations, however, DO rule. That is where we may have a good, rational argument. I, Sarge, Lyn, et al feel we are giving far too much credence to the simple allegation and the power it has. It has been abused before, it'll be abused again. And again.

Until women are held accountable for coming forward with false acdusations, then this will continue. Yeah, in SOME cases, they have been properly punished. But in most cases, they get off Scott free. Anyone hear the punishment for Ben's accuser(s)? Anyone???

Anyone hear the punishment for Ben's accuser(s)? Anyone???

We all know the answer to this. Like thousands of incidents before, there were no repercussions as far as I know.

Mothers everywhere should speak to their daughters about sexual assault and being strong enough to come forward. And Fathers everywhere should counsel their sons on how to avoid being put in a situation where some vindictive woman tries to hurl false accusations their way because it can ruin their lives. Problem is, I don't know that there is a recipe for avoiding this for men to follow.

Ben was accused of a crime. Most of the recent accusations do not involve a crime so there will be no formal investigations, just he said she said and lawyers.

I remember that 1000 pg thread

80% of this board wanted Ben gone

I was one of the few that backed him

all those nights of chasing skirts in smoky bars helped keep his legs in shape

Men still have to work with women last I heard. Some of these false rape allegations are so loose they've been cast on men who were coworkers who never touched the accuser.

Dem Rep. Kihuen won't seek re-election amid sexual harassment claims

Rep. Ruben Kihuen, D-Nev., announced Saturday that he would not seek re-election in the wake of multiple sexual harassment allegations against him.

The announcement by Kihuen, 37, came one day after the House Ethics Committee announced it had opened an investigation into the harassment claims against him.

Earlier this month, a former campaign aide accused Kihuen of propositioning her for dates and sex despite her repeated rejections during his 2016 campaign. This week, a lobbyist told the Nevada Independent that he touched her thighs and buttocks and made unwanted sexual advances while he was a state senator.
