Especially in the past two seasons, unable to stack big wins upon each other and really break through with momentum that carries on week to week. As with Cincinnati, the Ravens will come to town with a very simple and careful game plan designed to hang around into the fourth quarter with ball control and timed shots to Smith Sr.. Flacco will not take big chances and will throw the ball away as soon as trouble comes refusing to allow the Steelers Defense to gain emotion. They will be happy to punt the ball away. The key will be to force them into a shootout and get Flacco out of his safety first game plan by putting up points early.

In my opinion the game will be close and will come down to the final two minutes. I just don't see a blowout. The game is huge for both teams and the loser can at best hope for a wild card berth. Going to be a blood bath.

The single most maddening thing about this team is that they can beat the Colts and then go lose to the Raiders/Titans/Jets/Bucs

That has been happening for way too long

Full out attack/tempo on offense. Force them out of the shell. Don't leave it to the fourth quater. They have clutch kicker and that is the style they want. Have to take them out of their comfort zone.

Regardless of how they play tomorrow night, one almost expects them to go on to struggle against the Jets and Titans, perhaps losing both games.

It's unfortunate that the recent history of the team under Tomlin prompts fans to think that way, but that's the bed they've made.

Stacking games wasn't their problem last year. They stacked a lot of losses then stacked a lot of wins. That's how you get to 8-8. They won 3 in a row twice last year.

Recently the Rats have been luring the Steelers into thinking they know what each other is doin and there ain't no secrets and then coming out with a different style attack and killing the Steelers. Or outcoaching in other words.

I fully expect Flacco to come out throwing and testing our CBs deep along with steady diet of out patterns. I think the Ravens know they are better than us on the Special Teams side of the ball and can control field position. The only way to negate that is to score early and often. If we can protect Ben even remotely like we did against the Colts, we should win this game.

Considering Baltimore's CB issues, I would hope that we do the same. Except that we can mix in our TE and they will be a little crippled in that regards with Pita out and Daniels having "a knee" (and possibly out). Game actually could be a shoot out if our OLine does it's job because one team's secondary is banged up and the other's is somewhat inexperienced (second and third stringers).

They haven't been stacking a lot of wins simply because they haven't been very good. If they win this weekend that's asking them to win three in a row. Frankly I don't like those odds but the arrow seems to be pointing up if you will, obviously.

Like I said, they won 3 in a row twice last year. They need a longer streak. I want to see if last week was a fluke. I also want to see if this defense can stop giving up almost 25 PPG.

Hell, the league average is probably 23 to 25 in RogerBall. That's a given at this point. The offense needs to gameplan to score at least 30 every week. 51 points last week was great but if they scored 30, which is normally an awesome day for this offense, they would have lost.

league average is 21.8 to be exact.

The only chance the defense has off improving is the secondary, particularly Allen, playing better.

They rushed the hell out of Luck and still gave up 34 points. Flaccid doesn't handle pressure as well as Luck, but the Ravens have a much better OL than the Colts.

The Ravens are second in the league in scoring defense, so scoring 30 tomorrow isn't likely for the Steelers. They're going to need a decent game from the defense.

Weren't the Colts something like 3rd in the league in scoring defense when we played them? In any event, their ranking matters only to the extent that it is an "obstacle" (i.e. their good play) that must be overcome. This offense needs to show themselves and the rest of the league that they CAN put up 30 consistently.

No team is going to put up 30 points consistently. The pats* have only scored 30 points or more in 4 games this year. They beat the Raiders scoring 16 points. The Steelers need to score more because the defense isn't doing well. However they aren't going to win anything with the defense giving up that many points. No team can continue to score to make up for a bad defense.

so what you're saying is we need to invest in cameras, microphones and technology?

Steelers better be prepared for the Ravens and the pass interference calls

The Colts depend on blitzing to get pressure, and the Steelers did a surprisingly great job of picking it up. Vontae Davis leaving the game in the first quarter was a big loss for the Colts as well. The Steelers moved the ball and scored when he was in there, but I seriously doubt they score 44 points on offense if Davis played all game. He's the Colts best defender.

The Ravens are much more talented up front. Even if the line plays well, Roethlisberger will not have as much time/room to operate as he did against the Colts.

Let me start this with a disclaimer. I did not see the Balt/Cinci game. That said, looking at the stats I have some questions for anyone who did.

1. Did the Baltimore front 7 pressure Dalton? Just looking at his stats, it doesn't appear they did so effectively (21-18, 266 yds.. 0 TDs though and 1 INT, sacked twice)
2. How did the Balt secondary play after Smith went down?
3. Did Flacco play as poorly as his stats indicate? (17-34, 195 yds, 0 TDs and 2 INT)
4. Actually, looking at the stats did either of these teams really play a good game?

Anytime we play the Ravens the key to success is pressuring Flacco. Alot of us, including me, cant stand him and think he is overrated, however when he gets time he's a different QB. He's very streaky. When he gets hot hes as good as it gets in the NFL. With that being said the Steelers need to come out throwing. They need to get the offense cranked up and get the lead. They need to put the Ravens in obvious passing situations so LeBeau can crank up the pressure. If we jump up 10-0 or 14-0, we can feed off the crowd and the momentum to victory. Home field advantage in this game is huge. The Steelers need to use it to their advantage. Get the lead with the no-huddle, keep the pressure on throughout, then start mixing in the run to close it out. At the end of the day we are 6-3 and got a division win to boot.

Harbaugh out coaches Tomlin every time.

Sad but true, bout 90% of us armchair coaches out coach Tomlin bout 90% of the time too though... Being conservative with the 2nd stat.
