So after a really long winter break - the kids in the public schools here had from Dec 23 to Jan 9 off - now they have Monday off for MLK (fine) and Tuesday off for teacher "professional learning day". These teachers have more professional learning and teacher work days than I can believe. It's no wonder that down here the kids went back to school on August 8.
So my question is why do teachers get time off for "professional learning"? They can take classes or whatever after school or over the summer. My taxes are for the kids' education, not the teachers'.
What is up with the teacher work days? More days off so the teachers can catch up or something? The classroom work is over at 2:30 every day, earlier for some.
