Tomlin had nothing to do with Arians Leaving

Do you know what Arian's record is without Palmer?

2014 Carson played 6 games. They won all 6, averaging over 25 ppg. They finished 11-5 that year. That leaves 5-5 without Palmer. In those 10 games, they averaged 15.5 ppg. They scored more 20 or more points 3 times out of those 10 games.

The teams they beat? 6-10 giants, 8-8 49ers, 11-5 Lions, 9-7 Chiefs, 6-10 Rams. they lost to 12-4 Broncos, 12-4 Seahawks (x2) and 6-10 Falcons and 8-8 49ers.

What is Arians without Carson?

wait why did carson only play 6 games -- OH that is right he got HURT.... how did that happen .. I really don't know .. I am being serious

I find your posts to be rather a shallow in terms of football material. Message boards are about opinions. If you don't like mine, skip the post. It takes little will power. I know you can do it!

Just admit you are an unapologetic Tomlin ball washer and will greet those who don't view him with rose colored glasses ( myself and others on the board ) with antipathy.

Coach I really don't view Tomlin through rose colored glasses but I don't view him with blinders like some. In the end his record will tell the story not the views of fans

All you do is post half quotes and stats to fit whatever argument you are trying spew at the moment.

Ummm, isn't that what pretty much everyone does on a sports message board? You mean he should posts stats that disprove his assertions?

You also make it sound like the Steelers were devoid of offensive talent. During those years they had Parker, Mendenhall (a first-round pick), Ward, Holmes, Wallace.

Mendy was a 1st round pick, but that alone doesn't mean dick. He sucked. He was about a 5th round talent. That guy couldn't break a tackle if my mom was on D.

There is a difference in posting stats to support your argument and not posting all the stats or conveniently leaving out pertinent stats. Same with quotes

LOL.....I wish you could join the Steelers front office as a talent evaluator. Your HINDSIGHT though is spot on. Good job.

<shrugs shoulders> Everyone looks for stats that validate their assertions. It's what most people do.

So is my vision and insight.

Who needs vision and insight when you have HINDSIGHT on a message board?

Mendenhall was pretty solid before he left. He was above average anyway. Clearly his heart wasn't in football or he could've lived up to the potential he had.

Mendenhall wasnt that bad. He was a good playmaker before his whole "conspiracy" persona took over. He lost interest and moved on

Everyone doesn't post half the story or half the stats or quotes to make it fit their agenda

I don't think you do either, but I think a few posters certainly have rose colored glasses when it comes to Tomlin.

The facts are Tomlin inherited a stacked super bowl team with veteran leadership, a franchise QB in his prime, and a talented staff. He also has the most patient owner in the NFL, who hired him in a rule named for himself.

Is there a more comfortable landing spot for any head coach?

Tomlin won one super bowl with Cowher's players and staff. Switzer did the same.

I posted a poll to predict the Steelers 2016 record. Most fans think we will be 12-4! Those are the expectations. Every year it seems the Steelers underachieved a bit by our expectations. Coaching and GM moves are reasons as to why.

HBO Real Sports has a current profile on Bruce Arians. I'm thinking many Tomlin fans, who also might be liberal when it comes to politics, or for him due to their ethnicity will enjoy it.

Bruce was a PA boy who grew up in a black neighborhood during a time of troubled race relations of the 60's and gangs. Bruce's ability to work with troubled black players in the NFL ( A weakness of Tomlin ) is amazing. His own players will tell you that. You'll have to watch the Real Sports Segment. I don't want to spoil it for you. The Cardinals drafted DT Robert Nkemdiche, a player I wanted no part of early due to his shady background, but I do think he went to the right team.

As for Tomlin the man, he didn't fight to keep Bruce Arians and his short explanation that I can't get you a new contract without offering the truth or details makes me think a bit less of him.

Stats and quotes are not mine. Nor are 3rd party awards, such as coach of the year. Nor are win-loss records a head coach.

There's a follow up story on PFT about the Steelers' response to Arains:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...omlin-made-the-decision-to-fire-bruce-arians/

I apologize if this was linked earlier in the thread.

Steelers say Mike Tomlin made the decision to fire Bruce Arians

Like I said the head coach hires and fires his staff unless a coach did something criminal or showed bad ethics that reflects badly upon toe organization. In such cases, the owner usually speaks.

Tomlin fired him. End of. Those who think he didn't are wrong, and should quit trying to cover for him.

What is there to cover?? Pretty sure this thread was started as a knock against Tomlin. Now it's he did fire and he was stupid for doing so SMH. The usual

Really though we were past this. Can see we are not. Team is looking up, the arrow is pointing up not down as was the mantra here a couple of years ago. Team is injuries and help on the secondary from really being super bowl caliber. But oh well I digress.

thank God he or the front office fired him, don't care who. He was driving a Ferrari in 5th gear to start up and then kept it in 3rd gear in an open highway

Hated his 3rd down, open backfield, go long trademark playcalls. Guaranteed sack or rushed pass.

Everyone must've forgot how ****** Arians offense was inside the red zone. Field Goal after field goal after field goal. First and goal? Ya let's run it.. second Down?? Sweep right.. third down? Pass incomplete and kick.. repeat.

The stats you USE are yours. You own them. No one thinks its coincidence that you only used 2014 and 2015 stats for Palmer, and ignored the TD/INT's for the year before.

Tomlin won one super bowl with Cowher's players and staff.

See, I knew you were one of these. Yet you praise to the Almighty the job Arians did at the Colts when it was Pagano that put together the team and the staff. Or is HC not responsible for all that on other teams? Which was my point, all along.

He's the king of backpedal, I guess his IQ helps him do it faster than a bullet.
Always the same bullshit, using incomplete stats to make a failed point.

It's just crazy. It goes all the way back to the talk of LT's and how Denver would be lost without Clady. At least, he let that go, but why make the statement without even verifying that he, at least, played a couple of games during the season?

f you are going to comment that Tomlin would be a .500 coach without Ben and that Arians is a better coach, shouldn't you know what Arians record is without Palmer? If it is close to .500, maybe your point isn't so solid?

Or you could just argue that Arians is a good HC, although he left something to be desired as OC. Or, for the love of God, STOP saying what a great job he did in Indianapolis.
