Can somebody explain this to me? Adams has done a fine job the past 1 1/2 games. Yes, he has had help on passing plays, but on the few he was man-against-man, he did just fine. He has protected the QB.

Meanwhile, here is Gilbert's highlight from the Thursday night game against the Rats:

And another stellar visual of his stellar pass blocking in the same game:

hmmm I think you might have a point

Gilbert's play improved quite a bit after the first 2 games of the season. He was playing pretty darn well before the concussion.

Tomlin is paid off by our AFC north foes.

or he is just stupid.

You forgot this picture of Gilbert. I guess if he's on a short leash it's ok but I'd have Adams prepared to go.

Sorry Al, but I have to respectfully disagree. While he may have improved from complete and total garbage to simply crap, he was not playing well. Adams is better.

Gilbert is better. I'm not convinced that Adams is that markedly improved.

Waiting to hear/see one of the film review articles on the various sites. I've been hearing rumblings that Adams only received help on 8 pass plays through the entire Colts game. Eight total; five in the first half and 3 in the second. This would suggest that Adams was actually out there performing at a high level and that they kind of anticipated it. Also read on either the nameless paper or the Trib site that he was actually enjoying himself out there so much that he engaged in a lil smack talk to one of the Colts linebackers who he knew from college.

Tomlin pointed out shortly after the game how well Adams had done. Adams did a good job against the Texans, after being thrown in during the 2nd quarter. Prior to Adams entering the game, Ben was sacked twice. Gilbert has himself allowed 5 sacks this year. Since Adams has been on the field, the entire Steelers team has given up 1 sack.

I am not suggesting that sequence proves causation, but in this instance, sequence suggests some relationship between who the RT is and the sacks allowed.

If Gilbert starts it's only because Tomlin and Colbert want to prove they were right signing him to the fat contract.

you mean like Cortez?

You know how you can tell Adams was playing well? Heath actually got to attack the middle of the field, helping the WRs on the outside with their route combos as well. I am not sold on Adams yet, but Heath was relegated to being Gilbert's help to keep him from being exposed wat too much. Good to see Heath playing offense and not just OL.

Heath was latched to Adams side many times against the Colts. Bell and Blount were both used to chip as well. There were also times Ben got rid of the ball so quickly that no defender had time to beat anyone. He had quick reads to Bell, Brown and a very nice pass to Bryant who dropped it.

I have no problem putting Gilbert back in but I'd give him a short leash.

I am at a loss as to why the team would change what has worked very well for the past 6 quarters. Heath helped Adams, that is true, but Heath also was forced to help Gilbert a ton since Gilbert gave up 5 effing sacks in 25 quarters. Also, it does bear mentioning that Heath had 7 receptions, his most of the season, so apparently he was not locked onto Adams' right hip.

Gilbert was playing well before his concussion. He should start....if he ***** up and disrupting the rythem of the offense put Adams back in.

So how many possessions are the Steelers willing to risk to see how Gilbert does? They get 10-11 possessions per game. Throw away 2 and if Gilbert struggles (again) vs. Dumervil, then make the move? 3 possessions?

How about this: Start Adams, and if HE struggles, then switch to Gilbert?

Adams did his job. Played well. Its Gilbert's job. Just two weeks ago Adams was a bust and a turnstile now he should start. Gilbert shouldnt lose his starting position due to an injury. Glad Adams is showing he can be depended on though. Maybe they can run some unbalanced line and use Adams to help spring Bell.

meh 6 and a half a dozen of the other

seems like both have their WTF moments.

I am for using Adams and Gilbert at the same time, and removing Matt who is a full time blocker anyways.

No need to chip Heath or anyone else for that matter, they can concentrate on catching the ball and blocking downfield instead of in the backfield.

I prefer letting Munchak make the call as the Steelers are already doing. He seems to have proven that Adams can play which more than a few said wasn't possible so lets see how it goes from here.

It is generally agreed between coaches and players that you don't lose your job due to injury.

On a positive note it is nice to see that there is a lot of debate as to who is better at right tackle at this point. Maybe by the end of the season we find that we have two decent right tackles.
