Tomlin says there will be changes to staff. Outside OC as well.

Sometimes I feel like I'm beatin' a dead horse
And I don't know why you'd be bringin' me down
I'd like to think that our love's worth a tad more
It may sound funny but you'd think by now
I'd be smilin'
I guess some things never change
Never change

My sentiments as well. I want complete outside the organization if possible.

He looks promising Drink, but is He an established play caller yet?

Biggest issue I had a problem with We deviated from what Mason did the three games before. They dared us to throw over the top. We should have with GP and Muth, with DJ underneath coverage. That would have had them backed out to a two high safety look and allowed Najee and Warren more room. But hindsight is a waste of time. With a new offense, playbook and play caller hopefully predictability will be gone.

Ike, I was saying that too. They started throwing 3 + or - yards off the line of scrimmage, then ran on first down nearly EVERY single time. Damn straight I’m stacking the box……..

When allowed, MASON hit over the top, intermediate, and down the middle in the previous three games, why the hellA did they go back to Tomlin ball ?

Playoffs are bigger games and made for bigger gambles.

The defense can be fixed even with Austin. He was limited by weakness up the middle. We really need to strengthen the MLB position and ad another stud DL.
Meh. We need to change schematically. Giving the easy pitch and catch to teams for them to move down the field dinking and dunking has got to be stopped and changed. There is nothing wrong with forcing getting 3 and outs.

Just keep sticking to the same old fartastic replies. Quick: name our most substantial free agent signings the last 10 years. Cole? Good one. One of the 10 ILBs? Great guns. Tru-skinksy? Nice. He's fabulous. Pete Pat? Awesome.
You called Rooney cheap because he doesn't spend money on players. The Steelers are always right up at the cap ceiling. Care to explain that?

I'll hang up and wait for an answer.

With Tomlin saying he wants a guy with prior coordinator experience, I'm going to bet that Darrell Bevell at least gets an interview.

If the Steelers plan to extend Tomlin, they should do it soon. Tomlin doesn't seem to like having anyone on his staff that makes him look bad by being a better coach, so it's probably a moot point.

Any decent OC candidate isn't going to give up a sure thing where he's at currently to go play for Tomlin on an expiring contract. By the time they get around to extending, all the good people will be gone.

Looking forward to more 3 and outs. I've been a Steelers's fan since the 70s and have followed this site for years. I'm getting tired of average being celebrated like I'm a Browns or Jets fan. Same thing every year for a decade. Bad losses to bad teams and losing games we are favored to win. Followed by winning a few games at the end of the season to make the media and the rest of us think they have finally figured things out and next year will be the year. Rinse and repeat...

Spot on Lebanon. Decrease in OTAs, padded practices, practices in general. Heck camp at Latrobe, according to some of the guys in the 2000s who were there then and nowadays as coach interns or media all say it’s a cake walk, with the exception of Friday Night Lights at the high school. All of these were collectively bargained by the NFLPA on the last CBA. They didn’t realize that all of these reductions just impacts player conditioning and compromises possible playing incentives built into their individual contracts. Easy to see why De Smith is on his way out as NFLPA union rep.
Out of curiosity why was it that they negotiated the” cake walk” type of training camps in the first place?
Not that I know the answer, but wasn’t it because of all the injuries that occurred in training camp in the past?

PPffffhhhtttt....all this means nothing if Tomlin has his fingers in the defensive pie. This goes double in the playoffs where he has shown one, two...three, four even five times in a row he has no reason to be even close to devising the defensive strategy. Clearly, ownership said he has to bring in outside talent but they need to also add that he not influence their planning...especially during the playoffs.

I was hoping they went after Bill O'Brien as OC since he appears to be out with the Pats after BB left.

Art Deuce laid a law down. Those that think Art is invisible have another thing coming. This is his livelyhood and he takes note of what is being done and why. I’m sure ART has a circle and has surrounded him with trustworthy people/advisors.

I think between CXoach Tomlin and Art2, they had a meeting, maybe Kahn & Wiedl were there as well.

In any event, things are going to change and just maybe we get a more positive outcome.
Shades actually sounded a little bit humble today. Maybe it has sunk in, or more likely pointed out by Deuce and Omar, that the way he has been doing things isn’t working and 7 years without a playoff win is proof.

In the last FIVE playoff games his D has averaged giving up over 40 PPG. You mean that's not very good?

They need more than an OC change. I'd like to see an upgrade at DC as well, one who can actually call the plays. The defense has done alright in the regular season in terms of points score, but five straight 30+ points allowed in the playoffs is unacceptable.

It is good to hear they're looking outside for an OC and that ARII and Khan will be involved in the hiring process. There should be a few more openings in addition to the OC, particularly at OL coach. You want your OC and OL coach to be on the same page since they basically act as the run game coordinator. It'd also be nice to see the Steelers find a young coach as passing game coordinator. Expand the staff with young coaching minds.

Curious that it hasn't been decided if Broderick Jones would play LT or RT moving forward.

A combination of Pickett/Rudolph as the starter feels like another season maxed out at 10 wins and a first-round playoff exit.

Rah, rah. It won't make any difference...Next year we'll be sitting at 9-8 or 10-7 and if we're lucky back into the playoffs on our opponents ineptitude. Oh joy.

saw where Tee Martin was mentioned, which would also fit the tie-in since he's a former Steeler.
Too inexperienced at this point, only one year as QB coach. Better options out there with verifiable experience

How much will Tomlin have his fingers involved in the schemes these new guys will be installing is the real question.
130% just like all the previous years.

I just read an article on the PG (didn't see the presser) and they stated Tomlin said he hopes Rudolph is back next year to compete with KP for the starting job. So, it appears he's not going to just hand the reigns over to KP.
He said Rudy would get a chance to compete before, yet didn’t allow it. If I was Rudy, I would say ALL THE RIGHT THINGS, and take the first contract out of town. Tomlin is a LIAR, if Rudy stays, starting is not a priority for him.

If he’s committing to KP now, I doubt they’ll be looking to bring in anyone of the Russell Wilson/Kurt Cousins/Justin Fields pedigree.
Good, they don’t need to be a QB retirement home, or a reclamation destination.
