Iowan Comforts Sobbing Jeb Bush At Town Hall

NEWS IN BRIEF
January 29, 2016
VOL 52 ISSUE 03
Politics · Politicians · Election 2016 · Jeb Bush
DES MOINES, IA—Slowly approaching the distraught, trembling presidential candidate before embracing him in a gentle hug, 42-year-old single mother Holly Sullivan comforted a sobbing Jeb Bush during a town hall forum, sources confirmed Friday. “It’s all going to be okay,” Sullivan said in a soothing voice after Bush broke down in tears while describing his executive experience, reportedly patting him on the back as he rested his head on her shoulder and told her that things were “too hard” and that he could not continue on like this anymore. “I know it looks bad, but you’re going to make it through this. You’re a brave man just for standing up and sharing your story like this.” Sources confirmed that sympathetic audience members then applauded Bush as he was escorted off the stage by his wife.

You should be happy that he is on your side and helping you. You sound like a bitter grunt. What has Hillary or Obama done for you?

He's not on my side. I don't have a side. No one in this field represents me in any way, shape or form. That said, If you honestly believe this was anything more than a stunt, and he actually cares for veterans and doesn't see them as anything more than a useful tool to get him what he wants, you are as stupid as he is.

I thought giving $6 million to vet groups, including 1 million out of his own pocket, was pretty cool. It's a lot more than anyone else has done.

This breaks it down pretty well how truly shameless Trumpy is when it comes to veterans.

Trump vet stunt fits campaign's exploitive pattern

Yes, and I expect Madcow to be fair and reasonable when assessing a leading Republican candidate.

Hey, and you know where I go for reasonable, balanced analysis of Obama and Hildabeast? Rush Limbaugh.

[You get the analogy, right?]

Ha!

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump on Friday called Texas Sen. Ted Cruz an "anchor baby" during a campaign stop in which he also said his chief Republican rival got "pummeled" at Thursday night's GOP debate.

"Ted Cruz may not be a U.S. citizen, right? But he's an anchor baby. No, he's an anchor baby -- Ted Cruz is an anchor baby in Canada," Trump quipped in a speech to supporters in Nashua, New Hampshire.

I'd rather just stare at a silent Megyn Kelly, than listen to the Madcow dude.

OK, OK, OK!

Golf is as much of a sport as walking is. Happy? Sheesh! !

After some basic research, it seems this little debate about whether golf is a sport is as old as the game itself. So I'll attempt to end this Te-da-ta with couple points I found and we can move on to better things.

First some background.....Golf in the United States is a $76 billion annual industry with 25.7 million players. Thirty-eight percent of Americans call themselves golf fans. [39] [40] [41]The debate over whether or not golf is a sport wages on the internet, in bars, amongst sportswriters, and even on the golf course.

Proponents say that golf meets the definition of "sport" found in the dictionary, requires physical exertion and coordination, and is recognized as a sport by sporting goods companies, athletic associations, fans, the media, and more. They point to golf's inclusion in the Olympics starting in 2016 as further evidence of its qualification as a sport.

Opponents say that golf better meets the definition of "game" than "sport," does not require rigorous physical activity, and can be played professionally by people who are overweight, injured, or non-athletic. They argue that golf is a game or leisure activity, and they cite golf's 112-year absence from the Olympics as proof that it is not a sport.

OK, so let's expound on the definition for sport......The question of whether golf is a sport hinges on the definition of "sport." The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines sport as "physical activity engaged in for pleasure; a particular activity (as an athletic game) so engaged in." [6] Dictionary.com defines it as "an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc." [7]

Sociologists Tim Delaney and Tim Madigan defined sport as "institutionalized, structured, and sanctioned competitive activity beyond the realm of play that involves physical exertion and the use of relatively complex athletic skills." [48]

In the end, Golf is indeed a sport as defined but I also found that there are just as many people that would argue with the definition as would agree. All that means to me is that there will be no consensuses on this forum, or any other for that matter, in the foreseeable future.

If yinz will remember, it took the Supreme Court to determine that the tomato is a fruit not a vegetable...LOL

I don't disagree. I just don't believe it was some act of altruism. He is no different that any politician in that he will do what serves him best. He always has, probably always will.

One of the charities that Trump is donating to is Hope for the Warriors. For the past three summers I have worked side by side with these people raising money for HFW. They are a small group doing great things in Jacksonville NC for the Camp Leguene vets.

I am THRILLED that the Donald selected them as one of the recipients. Much deserved and money well spent.

Sung to Billy Joel's Piano Man..

It's 9 o'clock on a Saturday...
Do you know when Donald's next insult will be?

It's getting later than usual...
Maybe he is "off" a little today?

Debate Without Trump Gets Better Ratings Than Last Debate with Trump
http://www.weeklystandard.com/debat...s-than-last-debate-with-trump/article/2000820

Donald Trump's campaign manager predicted that Thursday night's GOP presidential debate on Fox News would only get "about 2 million" viewers because Trump refused to show up. In fact, "Fox News likely had 11 million to 13 million viewers for the debate," CNN's Brian Stelter reports.

Thursday's debate ended up getting higher ratings than the the last debate in which Trump participated. "Fox's Trump-less debate had an 8.4 household rating, according to early Nielsen data from so-called metered markets," reports CNN's Stelter. "The most recent GOP debate, televised two weeks ago on the Fox Business Network, had a household rating of 7.4." It's possible that Thursday's debate had up to 2 million more viewers than the January 15 debate that included Trump.

Trump said he wouldn't debate on Thursday because Fox News and moderator Megyn Kelly had not been nice to him. Trump instead held a rally and fundraiser for veterans. The leader of one veterans group called the fundraiser a political "stunt." In recent years Trump's charitable foundation has given more money to the Clinton Foundation than it has given to veterans groups.

That's because no one knows what channel Fox Business is on. Compared to the first Fox News debate the rating was down by 50%.

If Trump is elected what happens to his businesses? I did not think you were allowed to be prez and have be running other things. Would he have to give everything up or what? If so I do not see that happening meaning I think Trump will drop out at the last minute or something...

His kids run the business.

Oooooooh, he's got a big, shiny airplane, for sure he'll make a great president!

I love this blurp from the NYT:

The battle to be the Republican choice for president has been nasty, brutish and anything but short. The hope among some Republicans is that the Iowa caucuses on Monday and the New Hampshire primary on Feb. 9 will promote a candidate who can appeal to the half of their electorate that doesn’t support the two current front-runners.

Those two, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, are equally objectionable for different reasons. Mr. Trump has neither experience in nor interest in learning about national security, defense or global trade. Even unemployment figures, which he’s pegged at 23 or 42 percent (the correct number is 5 percent) don’t merit his attention.

From deporting Mexican immigrants and barring Muslims to slapping a 45 percent tariff on Chinese imports, Mr. Trump invents his positions as he goes along. His supporters say they don’t care. What they may not know is how deliberately he is currying their favor. At a meeting with The Times’s editorial writers, Mr. Trump talked about the art of applause lines. “You know,” he said of his events, “if it gets a little boring, if I see people starting to sort of, maybe thinking about leaving, I can sort of tell the audience, I just say, ‘We will build the wall!’ and they go nuts.”

The NYT lies on a regular basis. Trump has more global trade experience than all of the other candidates combined. Libtards do not function competently in a capitalistic world so they are ignorant about how much China has hurt our economy, particularly the dumping of steel.

Trump appeals to the lowest possible intellect levels, those that are awestruck by his daddy-figure bully shtick. Everything he says is bluster, irresponsibly throwing crazy ideas out there to see what sticks. Empty promises with zero substance. No surprise Indy is such a fanboy.

No, Crazy Bernie draws the bump on a log, do-nothing dregs of society who can't function in the real world and need handouts to survive.
