The #TrumpWon hashtag was quickly found to be coming from Twitter users in Russia and was soon hijacked and used to poke fun at Trump. The online polls were also manipulated.

Online polls are notoriously unreliable as they are vulnerable to bots and other types of manipulation that can affect their outcomes. On 4Chan and Reddit, Trump’s supporters gathered and planned to flood these polls with votes for Trump.

Anyone who watched Monday night’s presidential debate knows that Donald Trump got creamed. He needed to prove to undecided voters (and people who won’t tune in except for the debate) that he wasn’t crazy and unstable—and he failed miserably.

Which is the consensus from virtually all media pundits, GOP consultant Frank Luntz’s focus group, and the few scientific polls that have popped up since.

But that’s not what Trump supporters are saying, because they create their own reality. As the Daily Dot reports:

Donald Trump supporters artificially manipulated the results of online polls to create a false narrative that the Republican nominee won the first presidential debate on Monday night.

The efforts originated from users of the pro-Trump Reddit community r/The_Donald and 4chan message boards, which bombarded around 70 polls, including those launched by Time, Fortune, and CNBC.

And, presto! You suddenly see a bunch of online polls that claim—despite any objective measure—Trump “won” the debate. Even though one can vote in these unscientific survey hundreds of times.

I don't doubt that Clinton is leading, but we need more recent polling data to show the effect of the debate. Again, the idea that because ABC, NBC, MSNBC, Fox, etc. think Hillary "won" the debate just does not matter.

And I think the best source for where the races stand is 538.com. Silver has shown his methodology is VERY good. His data has had Hillary in the lead for going on eight weeks, and he makes a point that I think is very undervalued - despite his gains, Trump has not overtaken Clinton in national polls.

Finally, I cannot believe you actually like Clinton. And I don't mean, "compared to Trump." Just put that aside for the moment - do you actually like her as a potential President?
