Tuitt Retired

What a dumbass... I knew that ******* was not doing ****... He could have done this before the draft.

I think the STEELERS knew of this emminant decision but encouraged him to wait till after JUNE 1 due to cap remifications to benefit the team

I don't wish Tuitt any ill will, and as a Steelers fan I don't have an iota of influence on letting him (or the team) move on. However, along those same lines, wouldn't it have been "classy" for him to not collect each and every one of those 2021 paychecks which amounted to $9 million dollars? Wouldn't that have been classier than cashing in on an entire season in which he clearly never intended to play a single down? For doing absolutely nothing for the team who had already paid him over $45 million dollars for his services, and then retiring months later?

If you take a closer look at his statement, Tuitt doesn't even point to the loss of his brother initially, he first says: "I am thankful to have had the opportunity to represent the city of Pittsburgh for the past eight seasons and am blessed to leave this game with my health.Just seems a little odd to me, because injury was not the main reason that he was sidelined last season. Or at least that's what we were led to believe.

Anyway, I don't think it lacks class as a fan to question Tuitt's actions. Yeah, the Steelers took the high road. But did he?
the decision had to have come from him very recent and that he waited until June 1st, actually, helped the Steelers. Cap wise.

Calling him names doesn't solve anything, That's what I meant about keeping it classy. What does that solve? Yea, as a Steeler fan, it sucks, but it's his life and decision. The team has to pick up the pieces and fill that gap. Hopefully, they are getting their ducks in a row and seeing what's out there(Suh?!?!).

448 won't lash back but I will. No need to a huge ******** to every poster. What he said is spot on you inbred peace of crap. My hope is when they ban you again you don't bring your goofy arse back.
Oh yeah. You're a tough one, slushsteel. No please. I'm scared. Really.

Hey guys I'm slushsteel. Look at me. I'm tough. F'n Derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

What do you base this on? Were you inside his head? It seems to me that everything he said and did was with the hope that he could return. Up until his announcement of retirement, Cam Heyward seemed to believe he wanted to come back. My guess is that he did up until the last moment. Otherwise, why come to the facility this spring? Why have his stuff at his locker ready for OTAs? He wanted to come back, but just realized at this point that his heart would not be in it, which would be dangerous for both himself and his teammates.
Well, this is a new one. Tuitt should be recognized as a hero. Apparently he saved his teammates from danger. Hadn't heard that one yet. Maybe from this point forward we should refer to him as Saint Tuitt?

I know we are just spitballing scenerios here. But I am thinking with the date being convenient for the Steelers and Tuitt being spotted at various times it was this. The Steelers said hey take your time with a decision but let us know by June 1st one way or another. Tuitt sold his house and was already leaning to not returning. He received his degree as he was leaning toward not returning. But knowing he had a window to put in the final decide he went over in his head if this was really the path he wanted to take. At some point he knew his decision but waited to the date in which he was advised to report it.

Again, a tragedy wouldn’t have changed their decision about an obvious cap casualty, so I don’t see it as taking care of a human. The Steelers thought they were taking care of a future asset vs. ridding themselves of a liability. They were wrong.
I don't think they looked at it like that at all. You have a very skeptical outlook on the motives of the team.

Unfortunately for us, neither does our ownership and coaching staff.

But hey, at least Tuitt played for a model organization that afforded him the opportunity to screw them, right? That's what we're going to remember in 20 years. Not the SB titles..
You are a total jackass.

I have no problem with it. The timing or anything. He actually saved the Steelers cap space announcing today.

Not really. Steelers were free to wait until June 1 to remove him from the roster, no matter when he retires, and spread the dead money over two years. Happens all the time.

and SN would trade you for a box of nothing and still come out ahead on the deal

Truth.

Oh f'n, please. How many companies do you know of that allow a year of bereavement leave? Hell, even FMLA is only 12 weeks in most states.

FMLA is Federal law so FMLA leave is 12 weeks in EVERY state.

they'll do like they always do - wait until the preseason, see what they have, and pick someone off the scrap heap being cut by someone to get down to their roster limit. But, as I said before, that player won't really be ready to play full time and full speed for a quarter of the season. Maybe this year we have different coaches on D so they can get up to speed faster.

Well, we did pick up M. Adams late in the season and he was pretty much plug & play right away. Maybe we get lucky again?

He didn't last till our 2nd pick
i always hoped if they did take a QB in Rd. 1, they would trade up in Rd. 2 with a 2023 pick and get a DL. We'll have to wait a few years to see how this all unfolds.

Adams was an improvement at the time but is he true starter material? Our D-line was getting gashed for 200 yards 4 times and just under 200 one other time later in the season. I am not sure if Adams was playing then. Hopefully, with a full offseason, he will be able to rotate in the middle with Alualu. That would be huge.

I have high hopes that Loudermilk will be what Tuitt was or close enough. He flashed some ability as a rookie. Getting Alualu back, if he is truly 100% back will make a huge difference.

I think I will make BACON just for shitsss and giggles, add in cheerio's and aged milk for good measure.

EAT the BACON myself and offer BoB WazZoo the cereal for free.

No need for him to work the corner for food.

June 1. The key to this whole story .
On a side note just read a story on Stephon at another site. June 2nd is when his brother was struck down on the side of the road trying to adjust a mattress during a move. As we know the driver never stopped. Rather important date in the Tuitt family.

Does anyone know the degree Stephon obtained from Notre Dame? I googled it but couldn’t see it. Stephon was going to school with another fairly famous Steeler who also just graduated from Notre Dame. Pretty cool going to school with “ The Bus”.

Stephon got drafted at 20. Played 8 seasons making millions with the Steelers and now has a degree from Notre Dame before reaching the ripe old age of 30. And through all of this going through lots of adversity. Damn. I’d be pretty proud of this kid if he were my own. Seriously.

Would be nice if our Podcast would do an interview or something of that nature with him...........
