Antonio Brown. Le'Veon Bell. Only two elite guys drafted under Tomlin.

The problem Ben is once cowher was gone he was t coached properly. He was basically coddled and allowed to do as he wants. Instead of being taught how to play the game and position. coach home boy always just said it's Ben being Ben. Now years later he has never improved his game from his second season and it's too late for him to change his habits and learn now. The steelers would be making a huge mistake to give him big money at this point

Smdh......

The Saints aren't a flat out ****** team. Their offense puts up points every week, it's their defense that's ***. The defense we couldn't exploit until the game was over. The Saints will win out and make the playoff's, they aren't the Jets or Bucs, those two games ruined this season. If today shocked anyone they're blind or don't watch a lot of football. Our defense is awful, a competent offense will score on us, a great QB with thrash us. It's exactly what happened starting half way through the second quarter. When we left all those points on the board early that was a wrap. The rest was window dressing.

They do, but they still were a four-win team coming in. A lot of other teams had no problems beating them. Steelers got plastered by them today.

I don't think Dick LeBeau is the problem in all honesty. We have drafted fineness players since the Tomlin era began and we've lost the physical edge the Steelers always had over their opponents. We have no players who no longer strike fear into opposing offenses! Even Timmons is a fineness guy......never been better than average in run support! Taking Shazier over Mosley in the 2014 Draft IMO is just further proof they want quick speedy LB'ers who fit the mold of a fineness defense instead of guys who can absolutely lower the boom on an opposing RB and impose their will on an opponent.

I'm not sure how much influence LeBeau has on the Draft but Tomlin and Colbert have really dropped the ball on the Defensive Secondary for the past 3 seasons and letting Keenan Lewis walk in Free Agency should have made drafting a DB a top priority in the NFL Drafts the past 3 drafts. Watching our last playoff game (Tebow to Thomas 80yd TD) it should have become a top priority at that point to take a DB in the first or second round the last 3 seasons and Tomlin & Colbert have almost completely ignored the need at DB....drafting an undersized Shamarko Thomas in the 4th rd & Terry Hawthorn in the 5th round in 2013. You can blame LeBeau all you want but to blame LeBeau IMHO when he hasn't had any new talent drafted back there to help the pass defense to me is just like killing the messenger.

That defense or lack or it all falls on Tomlin & Colbert IMHO because they haven't drafted early enough to attempt to replace older guys like Ike Taylor and then to let Keenan Lewis walk while we resigned Cortez Allen & Marcus Gilbert just makes me wonder....what the hell is going on up there!!!
Then DL must adapt his Defense to who he has....Dicky is still trying to play his Defense from 5 yrs ago...he doesnt have the talent...the game has changed...change the scheme.

Our defense did what we pretty much expected them to do against a QB like Brees. Our offense underperformed against a defense that's just as bad. I just won't compare a team with Brees and his weapons/offense to the debacles that ruined the season, which were the Jets and Bucs. Today shouldn't have been some mind blowing shock like it seems to be for some.

I agree for his career that Brees is great. But this year he has sucked, just not today. Today we sucked. Why? Because Tomlin did not have us ready.....again....against a total **** team.

How exactly could of Tomlin of gotten this team more ready to play? Just wondering.

DL had the team playing to its strengths, they could not cover they did not, they did not rush well they did not, just what the talent level he has was able to do.

Good points. The level of incompetence of signing Allen and letting Lewis leave is just mind boggling

if we would have scored TD's instead of FG's on our first 2 drives...we win.

I do agree that there is a definite lack of talent on defense which falls on the drafting department. Tomlin sure seems like he is as big a part of the draft process as Colbert and the Scouting department are, so he as well as they should be help accountable for that. Inconsistent drafting and not being able to replace aging stars has led to a lot of this. Listen....when two former players who are so old that they already retired or about to retire, come back into the fold and instantly upgrade your defense, you have a problem with your young talent, no question about it.

might of...NO took the pedal off the medal their last few drives...the game would of been different that is for sure.

3,400 yards, 22 TD's, 11 INT with a 98 PR isn't awful. Some of his struggles were Graham being hurt and some of his other weapons too. He's still one of the best in the game.

1st play of the game the deep pass to Wheaton was there. Overthrown.

Especially when he was not getting any pressure and had WIDE open WR's running down the field.

At this point I'm just questioning the type of players we are drafting! I think it was Ray Lewis or Ed Reed who many years ago was quoted as saying "we need more thugs" but I know what they meant by that comment. What the Steelers needs is guys who play with intensity and have an edge....ala Jack Lambert, Joey Porter, James Farrior.....guys who play the game hard and impose their will on an opponents. What we always seem to go after is "BEST ATHLETE AVAILABLE" That is guys like Shazier, Jarvis Jones...freaks in the weight room and on the practice field but we need guys who absolutely bring it on gameday and come into the game with the intent to impose their will on their opponent. I don't think the Steelers have drafted a player on defense like that since Troy Polamalu in 2003. It's not about the fastest 40yd dash times, who benches the more reps, who runs the fastest 3 cone drill, who jumps the highest. If all that mattered Tom Brady would have never made an NFL roster.

Does anyone else feel the same?

The game has changed...I think DL is still trying to work his old magical scheme...game has changed...Hell. I believe I read just this season he has allowed his DL try to pressure the QB...instead of just running into the OL and playing patty cake. It doesnt really seem he has tried to change anything. I have seen less 10 yard cushions lately. I guess that is a start.

I'd say Heyward has that mentality. Possibly Vince Williams and Shamarko when they are allowed to play. That's as close to the players who play with "bad intentions" as we have on defense. Also need some more Keisel/Smith types who come in and quietly, consistently get the job done.

Jarvis Jones was never a freak in the weight room or best athlete, he is an example of how stupid Tomlin geys when he has a hard on for a player

Oh I think they definitely hit on a very good play in Cam Heyward. He is already very good and will get even better I think. But when you have the Ziggy Hood type 1st Rounders....(and maybe Jarvis but I'd like to see him play a little more before I write him off completely, since he did look to be improving a bit before the injury.) But they never used to miss on 1st Rounders and it was pretty rare when they didn't get a solid contributor in the 2nd and 3rd. They have continued to do well at finding a couple gems in the later rounds I will say that much. There are unreasonable people that fully expect them to draft a solid starter in all 7 rounds. That doesn't happen anywhere. They have to get more consistent in Rounds 1-3 again IMO.

If the game has changed any it has become a more pass oriented game. So that combined with the fact that Tomlin & Colbert have practically ignored getting LeBeau a top flight DB for the past 3 seasons when your last playoff game ended on a 80YD TD pass by Tim "FREAKIN" Tebow to Demaryius Thomas 3 years ago and you still haven't addressed the issue shows me that it's not LeBeau who has failed to recognize that the game is changing but Tomlin & Colbert who have ignored the problem.

I just can't help but think that Tomlin wanted to be running a 4-3 by this point. If so, it perplexes me that 1) they haven't switched to it already and 2) D.L. is still the coordinator. Hell, they have enough LBs to make the switch. They haven't placed a premium on CBs anyway, let alone zone CBs. The issue I guess would be depth along the line. And, if D.L. is truly "The Greatest D Coordinator Ever", he'd understand and be able to implement the concepts of a 4-3 defense anyway.

Do you know who DL signed off on and who he didnt't? Maybe he pushed for the guys they drafted hoping to get that pass rush of old to help cover up a weak secondary. We are not privy to such info so we will never know. I find it hard to believe DL didnt sign off on the players we have drafted...maybe he didnt want them...who knows.

At this point, I'm just hoping we **** the bed enough the rest of the way that Art Rooney doesn't give Tomlin a contract extension.

Knowing the way Art Rooney is running things so "hands off" and letting Tombert run the entire show, that's really the most I can hope for.

I'm on record saying I would have fired Colbert last off-season and based on what Tomlin has done this year, I am pretty sure I would fire Tomlin after this season.

We'll just have to wait and see if I'm right or Art Rooney is right based on what type of success this franchise experiences over the next 5-10 years.
