Revisionist history. Going into the season, no one could have predicted that Carolina, Atlanta and N.O. would suck so badly. Also had the Colts and what appeared to be (and could still be) an up and coming Chiefs team on the schedule.

Revisionist history has nothing to do with how ****** the teams end up being. Besides, the Falcons were 4-12 last year and every analyst I saw/heard/read predicted the Panthers to slide big-time.

But what he's talking about is the fact that you play the same-ranked teams in your own conference. This year we drew the Jets and Chiefs; if we win the division, then next year that becomes the Patriots and Colts.

I think you mean Broncos not Colts.

We finished 2nd in our division last season if I remember right...so we actually played a 2nd place schedule.

Yeah, I understand that. But, if they win the division and have to play the Patriots and Colts next year, I'd be fine with it. What are we supposed to do, hope they don't win the division so they can get easier opponents next year?

Of course not, but Vader's point is that the going will get much harder next year with a harder schedule.

It was the easiest schedule BEFORE the season started. They had NO trips out west. They didn't play S.F. Seattle, Den. NE, AZ, ETC.. So it was said MULTIPLE times by me and others.

Well, it will be interesting to see what off season moves are made to fix the secondary and pass rush. But for now, I'm just gonna hope for the Division Title.

GOT to patch up this nonexistent pass rush. It's the most important position on defense. We need to take a stab (or two) at some JPP or Dion Jordan athletic-freak type in this draft.

well us going 8 -8 had nothing to do with it.

Strength of schedule means absolutely nothing. This is the NFL you don't get extra points for beating good or bad teams. Let's finish this season before you guys can start telling us how bad we will be next year.

That's the thing, though. Some of you complain just about every time Tomlin is criticized, but you're completely silent when Tomlin is praised (even when it's ridiculous). Then you complain because people can't see your neutrality.

Yep, that is me all over.

So, if someone says something ridiculous praising Tomlin, I should join the chorus of "Yeah, I think that is stupid, too?" Even if there is already a core of people willing to step in with that insight? That "proves" neutrality.

Oddly, I would have thought the lack of glowing review by me or incredible negativity by me would have shown some neutrality.

Gotcha.

I'm not suggesting they shouldn't win the division. I'm simply saying they had the easiest schedule in the NFL this year. It turned out to be easier than anyone thought it would be. It wasn't just the teams it was where they played them and when. They got the Saints at home in Dec. They got Indy at home. They avoided playing the tougher NFC divisions. Nobody in the NFC south has won anything outside of the Saints in years. They left the eastern time zone ONCE all year and that was when they went to Tenn. Seriously, who wouldn't take that schedule every year? KC in Pitt, No Dallas, NE, Den, Seattle, S.F. Eagles, AZ, SD, etc.. who wouldn't want that?

Well, you join into the chorus going the other way at just about every opportunity. I couldn't begin to count the number of times you've replied to me or someone else showing the sheer BALLS to criticize The One Called Shades.

Oddly, I would have thought the lack of glowing review by me or incredible negativity by me would have shown some neutrality.

Yes, but you whine and snark incessantly against the "incredible negativity" while staying silent against the other side of the debate. THIS is why you're perceived this way.

Best we can hope for now is a gm and d coordinator

Assuming they make the playoffs, Colbert, like Tomlin, will likely be here as long as he wants to be.

Despite, the lack of talent on the defensive side of the ball, Colbert can point to the picks in recent years of Bell, Bryant, Beachum and Decastro, as well as the overall performance of the offense, if Rooney were to ask him why he should keep his job, amid the Allen and Mitchell contracts and Jones and Shazier not exactly lighting the world on fire.

Yes it did. If you win the division then you play the other division leaders.

And if you come in 2nd you play the 2nd place teams of each division.

So we would have got Denver at home, and gone to NE. Still favorable to us in the traveling dept, which seems to be your biggest point in our schedule.

Thanks for your critique, it is very helpful.

whine. you are sooo cute.

So I guess it does matter?

I just added the traveling part. It wasn't even my first point. I gave you a list of team they didn't have to play. Did you miss that part? You think if the Steelers had NE and Den as their last two games this year that would change your perception of their odds to make the playoffs?
