if you watched Hard Knocks, you saw the Giants didn't want to even try to keep Saquon. They signed a few journeymen OL free agents and declared their OL fixed and drafted a WR. Nabors is great but it's much tougher to find good OTs than WRs.

The idea was that he waives his no trade to get traded to a team with cap space who then cuts him. He still gets paid and can sign elsewhere to try to resurrect his career

But this injury complicates everything

What does insurance have to do with the cap?

And why would he waive no trade clause or go through any of that? His career is just fine as evidenced by his $4M monthly payments for the next 3 years
