On Wednesday news broke that the Pittsburgh Steelers were interested in Deshaun Watson, and that Watson preferred to play in Pittsburgh. Now the sticking part? Watson has a Grand Jury hearing set for today at 2pm ET in regards to multiple sexual assault accusations.

In a courtroom in Harris County, Texas, a Grand Jury will hear evidence and testimony in regards to 10 criminal complaints filed against Watson last year for charges ranging from misdemeanor indecent exposure to felony sexual assault.

At the same time, Watson will be deposed under oath for 22 civil cases filed against him concurrent with the criminal charges filed.

Several of the women were subpoenaed to testify on Friday.

Upon hearing all evidence and testimony Friday, the 12 jurors will then decide whether to indict Watson on any of the charges brought against him. If 9 of the 12 jurors decide to indict Watson, the district attorney’s could then decide to continue with criminal charges against Watson.

In Texas, indecent assault is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail and up to a $4,000 fine. Sexual assault is a second-degree felony, punishable by between two and 20 years in prison.

According to Watson’s lawyers, Watson will choose to plead the fifth on any questions involving the civil suit that he’s also facing and only focus on the criminal complaints.

“I’m not going to let him answer questions from anybody before that grand jury has made its decision. There’s not a lawyer in the country that would,” Rusty Hardin, Watson’s lawyer, told ESPN. “Once the grand jury process is concluded we intend for him to start answering questions in depositions.”

So what we know for sure is that we should find out whether the DA’s office will continue to bring the case of criminal charges against Watson by sometime after 2pm. If that does happen, Watson could begin to see light at the end of the tunnel for his NFL career. If he’s indicted then it’s back to the drawing board for teams like the Steelers.

The bad part of all of this is that Watson could still be suspended by the NFL even if he’s found of no wrong doing on either scenario. And that suspension is thought to be at least 6 games.

Strap up SteelerNation, it could get interesting this afternoon, or it might be another slow Friday.

Sometimes I differ from leadership's decisions in the Steelers' case.

Washington really should have traded for him… he totally could have been the **** commander for them…

Not guilty

Get on the freaking phone now!!!
Funny thing. They probably don't have to get on the phone. Watson has a no trade clause in his contract. If the Steelers want him, and he wants to come to Pittsburgh, he can scuttle any trade with another team AND lower the cost in terms of draft capital for the Steelers.

Shaun King may have cracked the story of his life...

Any way it goes, the Texans have little to no leverage. That no trade clause puts it all in Watson and his agent's hands. The Texans should be telling them to seek out trade partners where he would want to go. Aaaaand, since he already has a contract, Watson shouldn't worry about anything other than getting where he wants to go. Definitely not compensation to the Texans.

If Watson is cleared (and that's a BIG "IF")...he DAMN SURE BETTER BE THE FIRST NAME ON THE LIST TO CALL...
Dan Rooney made Ben accept a bogus suspension due to accusations from a drunken college girl.

You think the Steelers are going to let a guy 2 strokes short of a serial rapist join the team?

Gross.

Ben never faced criminal charges. The DA said there wasn't enough evidence.
Watson won't face criminal charges. The Grand Jury said there wasn't enough evidence.
There's a difference?
The only reason I don't want Watson is the media circus that's sure to follow him. Not to mention the folks outside stadiums protesting against him that will feed the media circus and faux outrage.
Other than that, criminally, he's on the same footing as Ben to me. Not charged.

There's around 20 differences.
Only in the number of accusations that they were subsequently both not criminally charged with.
2 allegations, neither of which were criminally prosecuted.
22 (?) allegations, none of which were criminally prosecuted.
All allegations were investigated by law enforcement. Neither was charged. But, we should decry the Court of Public Opinion and the media driven narrative for one and join the Court of Public Opinion and believe the media driven narrative for the other? OK ... seems legit.

What I'm saying is that the Rooney family forced Ben to accept a 6 week, (reduced to 4 week) suspension due to TWO allegations of misconduct.
Reportedly they ALSO looked in to possible trades to get rid of Roethlisberger.

And now you suggest they'll wreck the cap and cripple the team for the next 5 years in order to pursue a guy with TWENTY TWO allegations of misconduct?

Cause if that's the case, and the Rooney's management has declined so dramatically, this team is ******. completely ******.

I'll go a little deeper. Dan Rooney was running the show then. Art ll is running the show now. So, yeah, we're probably ******.

His civil litigation is far from over. That's a lot of people...err a whole starting offense and defense worth.

You guys gotta chill.
