When do the Steelers tell Ben it’s time to step aside?

The back up QB is always the answer as he has not yet played and is mistake free.

BEN just needs a little help and that little help would be biggest impact if it were a semblence of a running game. Coach Klemm has brought this rag tag OL a long ways but now he needs to really buckle down and get them even with the hump.

Coach Canada needs to be better game-planned and committed, a work in progress.

Coach Tomlin needs to toughen up and quit the "player's coach" aspect and be a HEAD Coach no bullshit 'aspect".

for Ben to succeed, he needs an OL and playmakers around him, like TB did for Brady. Ben got hit a few times yesterday and hard. That doesn't happen to TB. Our D has more holes than Swiss Cheese and injuries has a lot to do with that. Ben may not make it to the end of the season if he continues to take shots like yesterday. The guy is tough, but he's not young. I don't know how this season will play out, but until Ben can't play anymore at a high level, you ride him and hope the team gels around him. If not, this will be a really long and frustating season and probably Ben's last. I don't know if Canada is the answer and MT needs to take his balls out of his fanny pack. The 4th and 1 when he punted defined the game. No balls.

I really question the deep throws today by Ben - I think he completed ONE. I know we need to loosen up the defense but had Ben thrown the deep ball on the inside to Claypool - it should have been a TD on the ball that was dropped in the endzone...
Haskins? Haskins sucks. Period. I'd rather play Ben. Or Mark Malone. Or Bubby Brister. That's how bad Haskins is.
I was drunk and pissed but I still think it's time to get a QB that can make our offense look 'less dead'...

Make sense???

yes................Ben has slowed down by rudy is a statue
Hence my comment yesterday to at least try Haskins on a couple of series/plays - I mean good grief we can't get accumulate 50 total rushing yards from ONE RB. Even terrible Las Vegas shut down the running game.

I love watching Big Ben play. He's given me way more pleasure than disappointment... even yesterday.
I don't sit him down with either performance I have see this year either.

He didn't lose this game. He wasn't the reason we lost this game.

If it comes to a point where it becomes obvious we aren't going to make the playoffs , Ben will probably sit his own *** down.

They aren't going to a third string in the event BigBen gets benched. Which I think is a long shot anyways. We all know that Ben is here till end of season for better or worse. What realistically needs to happen is the D throw everything and the kitchen sink at the Oline. Lengthen the practice sessions. Even if it is a half an hour. In my old age I try to project realistic happenings. I think Rudy has to be injured or sucking it up for Haskins to get a green light.

Are you guys seriously referring to those poorly thrown, wobbly, jump balls as 'drops'? Haha

The Raiders dared Ben to throw deep and/or to the middle of the field, and any objective person could see that Ben lacked the zip to get the ball there effectively. Our offense should not rely on WR's having to constantly make circus catches.

Hell, the Raiders have just as bad an OL and running game (with Jacobs out) yet D.Carr looked All-Pro compared to Ben. The excuses just need to stop.

You blame the coordinator when his QB is as mobile as a senior citizen?
You blame the run blocking scheme when your QB is simply unable to line up under center?

He should have never been brought back. But at this point, we have to simply live with our relic of a QB.

I agree Berm, particularly QB sneaks. Put Haskins in for the QB sneaks since Ben refuses to do them.

Here's the problem - Haskins is the 3rd QB. If you put him in the game, Ben cannot return. To have him run QB sneaks or designed QB runs, Steelers would need to make him the back-up, and if Ben gets hurt, you are stuck with him for the rest of the game.

Well on First Take just now Michael Irvin argued "time to move on from Ben" & Stephen A Smith gave his take....They both laughed as Irvin called him on the fact they both said the same thing...

Who are the top College QB's, & what number draft pick are we gonna get?

Ben needs Harris to be a threat, so if O-line can't create holes, Canada needs to come up with ways to get Harris touches in the passing game.
Sending WR's downfield and dumping off to Harris can get him some room to run. It can also slow the rush.

When's it time for Tomlin to step aside? Lives in his fears every game, underachieving through out his career, and never holds himself accountable.

Sell your luxury vehicle, bus to his house and voice your concerns. Bring a floppy disk of all your YouTube clips that you feel support your claim. Start off by telling him who you would have picked in the draft and follow it up with requested cranial measurements of every offensive lineman on the roster. Then ask him if he has any windows that need cleaning, you want to attack the day obviously and have time to kill.

Is Haskins you brother or son?

Let us look at the here and now average yardage and completion percentage is both in the 20s in QB comparisons. He is publicly saying his performance wasn't good enough. And he is right it wasn't. I started my debate saying he is part of the problem and I still feel that way after digging. Bad Tombert decisions ring in too in other areas of the team. You bring the guy back knowing he needs certain scenerios to succeed and you fail him. All things said that doesn't change that his play needs to pick up.
I agree totally here Slash. I'm not ******** on Ben. I'm ******** on the team for bringing him back. They has a bunch of holes. Put window dressing on it and packaged it as a contender. Meanwhile they can't block.

Are you sure on that rule......? Somewhere in my vast wisdom I thought that was relinguished a f3ew years ago. I could be wrong but just asking.

So where do you think we would be if we didn't bring Ben back? Our offense better? Worse? Same? Do we win any games to this point? Or you simply want to tank the season is your reason for not bringing Ben back?

How do you think Ben would do if he had a line and a running game?
Everyone wants to blame the line and running game, but how are you going to run the ball when there's constantly 9+ defenders up front in the box because they don't respect the pass? Both games the defense literally played to the line of scrimmage because they probably don't feel Ben could throw a accurate pass beyond 10 yards anyways

No ...I think it is that they know Ben won't have any time to throw. The intermediate passes take time to develope....time Ben never has. Even his deep passes are passes he throw early. Jump balls to Claypool usually.

I think everyone knew this was his fair well tour. Maybe they make the playoffs and number 7 has just enough magic left to get it done. Probably not but I’d love to see it.

Teams are and will continue to gang up in the box to stop the run, daring Ben to throw to WRs that ain't getting no separation. If the O-line can't run block more effectively and the WRs run the wrong routes and drop balls then I doubt we win 9 games. That's what it is. Ben cannot run 100% of Canada's playbook and there are too many injuries on Defense.

I think that covers it.

So the Claypool drop on 4th and 10 was a circus catch? Dude gets popped from behind, and puts the ball on the ground, costing us. Come on, man. These receivers are, literally, all bark, and no bite. One dude gave up on three routes yesterday, one of which was an int. Regardless of the placement, or throw, what kind of **** is that? From the same guy who has had mental lapses in the past (like leading the league in dropped passes a year ago, to go with like a 50% catch rate). I’m sure he acknowledged it, though, running to the sideline, and patting his chest.

What is your thinking with playing Mason? Tanking the season? Because even at 39..... Ben>Mason.

Actually I think Ben had a fair amount of time during pass plays. He also had a surprising amount of time last week. Especially in the red zone both weeks. ( not that they got there often) Its not like Ben was running for his life all games long. I really disagree. With an open mind,go watch the film. Now,of course he got sacked. Not all on the line. Receivers getting open, bad decisions made come into play as well. And believe it or not, even great lines give up sacks. He has had time to pass. Really disagree.

This line has been together 2 games. I am not saying that they are probowl, but come on.
It seems like their plan is to throw quick. I assume they don't rust the line, who knows. Where are the check downs (after the progressions) or intermediate routes that take longer than 2.3 seconds? Why did Carr's passes seem to be uncontested often while every pass by Ben is in a tight window? Same thing last night, both QBs had several guys wide open. I do not understand is it scheme,, route running, wr talent? No matter how quickly Ben throws it, why are guys not ever wide open?
