I see no scenario where the Jack Rabbit is better than Mason... People complain about Mason but think a bad QB taken in the 7th round is somehow better. My thoughts on Mason is a career #2 that can help the team win some games when needed... Mitch strikes me as a #1... Pickett has done nothing in the NFL so judgment on him can't happen yet.
It’s not that. I just feel if Rudolph doesn’t win the Steelers move on from him. They’ll get a 5th/6th round pick for him and move on. There’s just no benefit for him to sit at #3.

I think there is a lot of benefit this year with Pickett being a unproven rookie...after the 2022 season I would understand the move more.

I don’t see Rudolph being #2. It would be admitting Pickett was a bad pick. And they aren’t going to pay Trubisky that kinda money to be #3. So it’s either starter or gone imo.

Not at all, it's just admitting he is a rookie and you are not about to force anything... Plus what makes anyone think Mason does not beat out Mitch? Are we saying the Steelers won't put the best player in the game? Ben wasn't going play as a rookie, injury forced it. I'm just not a fan of Mitch and two rookies one being a PS guy at best being the QB room for 2022.

The injury forced the timing of BEN being put in. There is nothing to say that he wouldn't start the next or sooner rather than later.

The injury was just the catalyst but BEN had the spark to start.

The other thing to think about would injury. I would not be so quick to look at getting rid of Mason.... Some camp preseason injuries could turn things quickly.

He may have but nothing was pointing to that with Ben and Pickett is not in Ben's zip code for ability.

If Pickett doesn’t start fans will forgive it because he’s the “future” and he just needs to develop. But if Trubisky AND Rudolph beat him out he’ll be pegged a bust. Just my opinion

If you have read anything that Colbert has said post-draft...he has said Pickett was the guy they wanted. They were shocked he was there at 20. Texans have stated they had a trade in place with the Steelers but that they(texans) backed out. So Tombert was most likely wanting to move up to get Pickett. There was exactly zero chance the Steelers were moving back from 20 when Pickett was there for them to draft.
That doesn’t make it wise just cause he said it, and yes I read it. Trading up would’ve been an even bigger mistake than the strategy they employed for years with him (race to the podium before we can even think of any other option). Still dum AF

Well Ben started out as the third QB and he did well. Doesn't matter what fans initially say. Just work your way into the starter role and do well and it will quiet any bust chatter.

So Pickett isnthe guy they want. They move back a few spots and then the Saints move up and take Pickett above them. Then they lose out on the guy they wanted.

I'm not saying Pickett won't be I just don't believe the Steelers need to rush him in as a rookie. Having Mitch and Mason for 2022 is nothing but good insurance... If we cut ties with Mason or Mitch for 2023 so be it.

We’ll never know, but highly doubt that scenario unfolds. KC was just QB horny AF and they were picking one in the first no matter how bad the reach…if KP was gone I have no doubt we would’ve reached for one of the QBs drafted in the 3rd with our first pick…

This is the same group that had a first round grade on Rudy
Well now we got 2 Rudy’s…effin awesome

If he’s the backup no one bats an eye for 2022. If he’s the #3 people will lose their ****. People lost their **** when Dobbs beat out Rudolph as a rookie. And Rudolph was a third round pick.

Knowing what you know now. Would you rather have:
A) Kenny Pickett at #20
B) Desmond Ridder at #52
C) Malik Willis at #84
D) Matt Corral at #84
E) Sam Howell at #138

Corral @ 84. He's proven in the SEC.

LOL... Losing your **** because a rookie that could be a long term answer at QB sits one year as the #3 is a personal issue for them.

Ben was 3rd String until injuries happened.

If you are talking training camp he actually was 4th behind Maddox, Batch, and even St. Pierre. But opening day he was #2 and St. Pierre was #3.

Rudolph had no chance at beating Roethlisberger out. None. People still had a conniption. Pickett has a legitimate shot at starting. So you think people will just say it’s ok that Trubisky and Rudolph two punchline QB’s for us are ahead of Kenny?

Nah, there will be plenty of grumblings.

I would say Corral at 84, followed by Willis at 84.

I just don't see the urgency in snatching up Pickett so early. But wtf else is new?

He's still a one read quarterback. I think one of the things that drew the Steelers to Pickett was his pro style offense he played and ability to read the field.

I see what you are saying. That RPO system he ran was primarily one read and run. But he would have been a late 3rd pick. Could he pickup an nfl offense would definitely be something to evaluate. Hard to do without going over scenarios and seeing how much he understands progressions.
