Steelers trade for Justin Fields

So Khan got two former starting quarterbacks for a conditional 6th round pick and a million and change.

THAT is incredible dealing right there. Each have their issues, but you have to hand it to the Khan artist.

Next year I want to see Khan obtain Montez Sweat from the Bears for some magic beans.
Yes we got a couple of guys for next to nothing, but are they any good??

I say Fields is who he is at this stage-a below average QB and Wilson is declining skill wise and a locker room issue.

you don’t compete without good QB play and I don’t think we have it and we will now take 2 years minimum to come to that realization playing these two guys

Who knows? The Steelers are kinda like that real hot girlfriend who lies to you but you believe the lies (not autobiographical, I never had the wallet to get the real hot girlfriend).

I'll believe the lies and see what happens. I'm too old to be over bothered if they truly turn out to be lies.

This is like the story of the hunter and the bear. But this time the bear always get ******

You don't need the wallet if you got the mojo

Let’s look at this through the Steelers front office lense whether we like what they did or we hate it.
Omar and Andy sign Russ to the veteran minimum where Denver is actually paying him to play here.
Best case, he plays well enough to get in the playoffs and win a game or two and gets you to AFCCG.
Worst case, he bombs therefore we cut ties very cheap, no dead cap hits, nothing.
Now to Justin! Plenty of potential, young, talented, perhaps needed to be in a better situation.
Again, comes in cheap for a sixth round pick in 25 that could escalate to fourth round if he plays 51% but that would require Russ getting hurt and missing extended time or just stinking the place up. Chances are he doesn’t get anywhere near that much playing time.
They won’t pick up his fifth year option at 25 million so look for an extension.
I’m luke warm on Fields and simply see him as a RB playing QB but we’ll see if that changes under Arthur Smith.
Now to Kenny! With all the controversy with Kenny saying he was promised his job back it was best to move on. He wasn’t a happy camper and it obviously showed so you have to move him.
They got the Eagles third round pick and only got rid of one of their fourth round picks. Not a bad exchange that now gives you two picks in the third round.
Now to Tomlin. I think they’re giving him every opportunity to succeed and now it’s up to him to coach and motivate these players and get them to buy in. We shall see!
Btw, in another thread I said yesterday watch out for Justin Fields. Figured they would go aII in his direction. Why not, he’s cheap and we needed an experienced backup.

I don't know about that. I saw a survey a number of years ago asking women if they'd be interested in Brad Pitt if he had no money. I would think he has mojo. Anyway, the overwhelming answer was no.

Well the Steelers are wasting time! Used to post more about he team but came to the realization that it was all a waste of time. Justin Fields Sucked on the bears and had a coordinator likely much better that what Pickett's hands were tied with and was barely better. What makes anybody on hear believe he is gonna have an epiphany with the Steelers and turn it around. This is the Steelers best chance for their own LAMAR JACKSON and we all know how thats workin out for the Ravens! Whatever, Pickett was better and its a shame he never got the chance to succeed in Pittsburgh with ******* OH Canada!!!!

Well we didn't give up much to get him but Justin Fields is a Turnover Machine! 68 Turnovers in 38 games in 3 years! Almost 2 turnovers per game! Sorry that's not winning football! I'm hoping they take a chance on Jordan Travis in the NFL Draft! I really don't think Fields is a very good QB! Never liked him in college and I certainly didn't like him in Chicago!

Well, you probably won't get the woman for the long run but you sure can tap that *** for one amazing night

He isnt quite that bad... he had 38 fumbles, but only lost 11 or 12 iirc

Good news.

Omar is probably shopping Russell Wilson now

****, when I first read this I thought you were talking about our one and only OMAR. I could see him fitting himself with Jersey and shoes———————

According to Cory Crisan at DK's site, the compensation is:
"According to ESPN, the Steelers are sending a 2025 sixth-round pick that could become a fourth-round pick based on if he plays in 51% of plays in 2024."
Thanks SteelBuckeye

I’ve don’t think that is too bad a deal. Now I’m hoping the new OC can do something with him !!!!

This erases all my disgust over the return for Pickett yesterday.

I have no idea if Fields can develop but I know he starts with significantly better tools than Pickett had. If he can develop the ability to study and read defenses, he has the arm and the legs to be a real threat. His upside is significantly higher than Pickett has. And after a semi-pro team gave up on him, he should be motivated to prove that all those yards and touchdowns at Ohio State were not a fluke.

I'd love somebody to tell me the downside of these moves. Unless you are under the delusion that Kenny Pickett was all of a sudden going to start playing like a pro bowler, then you have to like the moves.

It cost very little to acquire both and their salaries are dirt cheap.

Kenny is not the guy. Wilson of Fields MIGHT be the guy. I'd rather swing and miss at QB than keep trotting out a mediocre talent and lie to yourself that he can win you the Super Bowl.

Who were the steelers supposed to get at QB? I'd rather take a shot on Wilson and Fields for cheap than pay a ton of money to Kirk Cousins.

At least they're trying and it's not costing much cap space and they aren't getting locked into anything long term.

I'd rather be doing this than pay Cousins 55 million a year or pay Dak 60 million like Dallas is going to.

Exactly, Picket was going nowhere in terms of getting us to the promis land, will either of these two? Who knows

BUT

Standing still is like going backwards, at least we have change and NOT doing the same thing over and over as I feel would have been the case with Pickett.

These moves tell me the Steelers evaluated the draft QBs and came up with the following

1. Kenny or Mason will never be more than average talents. We need to upgrade.
2. We do think this team can contend for a Super Bowl in 24 with good QB play. We need a veteran to start immediately, but still need a possible QB of the future.
3. The QBs we do like in this draft will be off the board before we pick and we aren't sold enough to pay the price to move up.
4. Fields is as good or better prospect than the QBs we can realistically get in this draft or the 25 draft.

I don't get all the whining.

Also don't get how people know best case scenario with Wilson. Someone else used Ravens and Jackson as a negative example when Ravens have been dominating the league and were in the AFCCG a couple months ago. Ravens are a juggernaut and I hope we become more like them.

We were watching buffalo destroy us a couple months ago and then working on mock drafts.

This FO is making excellent moves and hopefully the moves work out next January but for now they are already working by creating energy around the squad.

You ladies need to stop pretending you know the future and stop crying. It's disgusting. This team is much better than it was in January and there are still moves to make and the draft.
