Early training camp news per reports

NOT defending, but we don’t know what was said.

Could have been anything from correcting a wrong route, to taking a play off.

The positive is that the WR Coach spoke up and didn’t let him off the hook.

Accountability and practice goes a long way in training camp, but a long way during the season.

Our HC needs to start holding ALL players accountable on the same level. Now is the time to do it. Let's get started Tomlin. Be a leader and lead!!!! Squash the diva **** across the board.

What I read about offense structure sounds very good to me.
1. Movement, multiple fakes. This us why no one was ever 2 or 3 yards open in Canada offense unless someone fell.
2. Multiple TE sets. Will have to be patient but let's be honest the wr. Room doesn't set up to 5 wide *******.
3. Fullbacks. Well not sure if they have real fullback but we've bitched that for years.
4. Pistol. A little ambivalent. Does allow the back to run both ways. Shotgun pretty much forces the back to cross face of Q. And run to opposite side.
5. Outside zone run concepts. I have two concerns here. 1. Our the olineman maulers or athletes/technicians. If they are maulers it's a bad fit but Smith was hired before draft so I'm assuming they know what they are doing. 2. Harris has been only useful as a north south A/B gap sledge hammer. Any slow in the play has been death. How does he fit here?
Any WR reverse plays?

I haven't been to camp since '63, so I'm not sure that I can add much to the conversation.

Carry on!
Great post. Very informative. 🤪

He isn’t here to talk football he is here to talk **** and flame throw. That is it.

He is exactly what we thought he was……………….. Attention look at me *****.!

Maybe he wants to “step”

Friday notables:

So far Bishop is impressing. He might have the inside track to filling in for Cam.

Wilson caught a TD today after a quiet first day. I read he has been getting in extra work before and after practice.

Leal continues to be active, maybe Loudermilk is the odd man out. Serves him right for never giving Stryker that interview. (Sarcasm for those who don’t identify as sarcasm capable.)

A certain corner has been tight in coverage. I’ ll give you a hint he plays opposite of Peezy Jr.

Wilson the ILber has a routine of a certain workout before practice which results in him being one of the first out onto the field.

Herbig jumped out early to work on C snapping. Good that he is putting in the work we might initially need him to start.

Saying GP was getting ripped for lack of effort. Move his dumb a$$.

Another wasted, drama-filled season coming up.

Tomlin has wasted so many years of my Steeler fandom. So close to not watching until it's over.

The WR coach is known to be rough. I think he will adjust to his coaching style. A money year he would be smart to…

Great Post slash, very informative…… appreciate them

I read where Wright (PK), might get traded for a late round pick. If he is kept on practice squad, good chance he gets signed and we get nothing. Detroit would be my guess.

With this new kick-off rule, I can see a need for keeping a 2nd one on roster But hard to stash on practice squad.

very fast indeed. very encouraging. He got great QB pressure but didn't get the sack. I say DPOY material. :giggle:
I am very hyped about this kid. He is doing all the right things so far. Can't wait to see him against padded NFL blockers aiming for him. Got a feeling he will leave a few people looking for their jocks.
Shades of Shazier, indeed. That, my friend, absolutely was a sack on game day...

Fixed that for ya...
I have a very different viewpoint on that situation. Just because you can keep something quiet doesn't make it good. I mean Brown made his stats, made his money and of the three winning championships was third for sure. And I don't think there is anyway you can win with a guy like that. He just breaks your locker room in half. A wiser leader wouod have shipped him off when his return would have been huge.

Having one of your most important players being so selfish and disruptive is definitely not conducive to winning championships.

Considering the Steelers need major contributions from Pickens if they're going to get where they ultimately want to go, the behavior he has displayed early in his career is not particularly encouraging.

Questionable attitudes are common among NFL receivers in general, but the Steelers seem to have gotten it worse than most in recent years between Brown, Johnson and Pickens.

Which is why I like the Wilson pick. Even if he doesn’t star he should be serviceable and with no behavioral problems attached.

He behaves nicely whole the lights are bright and the cameras roll. Is he classy when the lights go dim and he isn't the center of attention?

There are always reasons why first round talent falls. It's not a perfect science but these guys can judge football flesh. 1st to early second....sure. That can be other team needs. But 1st to third its health issues or attitude/off field. Not sure on the deal with Roman Wilson so far but let's be honest he is a child by NFL eye test.

I dont think many teams would ship off arguably the best WR in football in his prime. Also at that time the WR market was not as crazy as it is now. Im not a Tomlin or Brown fan, but Brown sure came to play on game day and made some phenomenal catches in crunch time.

I do not think there is anything glaringly wrong with Wilson as a prospect, per say.

WR is one position that just seems to be deep in every draft anymore, and there were a lot of bigger WRs who run just as well as Wilson drafted ahead of him. It doesn't necessarily mean they'll be better pros, though.
