2016-2017 Pens----Still with 100% more Kessel

The highlights to the flames and kings looked juicy. A lot of bad blood from the previous match up. Nice
 
Oooh Johnny Gaudreu got slashed. That game is looking ugly
 
Good hustle by Kunhackle to force a breakaway. Got be patient with the shot though

That puck to the foot/ankle looked painful. I hope he's ok. That was a nice goal the pens scored. Man the hawks goalie stopped some good shots. The pens not so much.oh well...next!

-clinched playoff spot so expecting some uninspired play remaining for the regular season

). Negatives
-blowout losses------especially on national tv. Nbcsn is too unkind atm. 4th straight loss
-defense. The WBS guys still have a loooot to learn. It affects certain pairings more than I thought. Ruhwedal and Gaunce stick out like a sore thumb. Good depth guys when the team is not so depleted with injuries. But having a 50/50 nhl/ahl lineup is showing
-MAF. The guy is just not what he was. I grew up in high school watching him as the main goalie. Sucks to see the heroes lose their mystique. The scary thing is both goalies are struggling

He came back in and played up to speed. Dodged a bullet. Crawford is a legit goalie. Chicago lost 7-0 a couple weeks ago and that game woke them up. Pens are just in a bad slump. All teams go through them
 
The Pens are basically Crosby, Kunitz, Streit, Cullen and Hronqvist plus a bunch of AHL'ers. You aren't gonna win many that way. Sure, they beat some ****** teams with that line up, but you won't last in the playoffs with that line-up. People need to get healthy quickly and get a game or two under their belts BEFORE the playoffs start. Columbus is physical and this won't get any easier. This is providing they don't slide to the WC position.

I don't think it's as much a goalie thing as it is a poor defense thing. They gave up 5 odd man rushes IN THE FIRST PERIOD ALONE. Not many goalies would be doing well with this defense in front of them.

Of course Columbus will be tough. They are physical, the Pens are not. But the Pens are majority WBS guys atm. That's evident in puck movement or lack thereof and trouble getting the puck out of the defensive zone. I still have the Pens going deep just based on this isn't the Pens team I'm expecting to see in the playoffs. CBJ and WAS do scare me atm though

While we are complaining WTH is up with Kessel? He is another one that we needed to step up through all these injuries, and he has been invisible for the most part.

1 point in 19 games? 20 games? Kessel has never been a physical guy. He's a sniper at best. Given the Pens current system, he hasn't really had much opportunity to shoot the puck and when he does shoot, they are from bad angles. He is what he is

We shall see Spike. We shall see. If any, I'll go down with the sinking ship. As much as MAF and Murray have been playing like **** lately. Wednesdays game was more of a defensive collapse. MAF kept that game from getting out of hand in the 1st
 
I won't get to see the game this evening so I'm sure they'll win 13-2 and Crosby will score 5 of them..haha

I am beyond the point of caring about any wins, all I want is for them to get through these last few games without any more injuries. Wins are a moot point now.

All we need is for someone to cheap shot Crosby and then it really would be over.

Agreed. Same boat with ya. I just want to see the guys get healthy and get a few games in before playoffs. Looks like Murray got hit. Pens are playing quite well
 
I always want them to win. Going into the playoffs getting your *** handed to you regularly is never good mojo. I do agree they need all of the guys ready to lay it on the line soon. May as well go down in the playoffs instead of close to meaningless games....still winning sets the mind right.

Pens up 2-0 right now
 
They are looking a lot more disciplined tonight as well. Defense still prone to giving up rushes, but they close in and disrupt. No complaints on the offensive side of things. The PP has looked solid, great puck distribution and play set up. Could be 4-0 Pens
