2016-2017 Pens----Still with 100% more Kessel

Going into OT. Rags tied up the game with 11 seconds left

I'd hate to see Sheary, Rust, Guentzel, Murray, Cole and Shultz leave. Those guys protected from the expansion draft are the Pens core group of guys who the organization invested in after the 1st cup. Except for Phil, I think the Pens can do fine without him

Holy hell they won a shootout. It's about time.

the Rangers are as shaky as the Pens

the win kept them in the hunt for that 2nd seed though - I'd think they want that

They need to get the top gears back in the machine with a little oil or the seeding won't even matter.

I'm not concerned about seeding. The Pens need to get on roll before the playoffs. Whatever funk they are in it's good to get out of their system before the playoffs. I think the Pens can and will peak back up when it matters. Even on the losing streak, the Pens have done enough to win. My only concern is getting the NHLers back full swing

Pens should be up 2-1. Got robbed a goal. Puck was never frozen and went right through the goalie. Wow. Good chances and happy with the puck movement though. Defense is still iffy, but Murray is having a hard time controlling the puck and giving up some great rebounds for Carolina

Pens win 3-2
-better puck movement
-penalties were the Hurricanes way of scoring. Other than that the defense held up well
-Rowney's line had a big game. Scott Wilson is being the physical presence the guys will miss with Kunitz down
-Murray, having trouble looking in pucks, prone to giving up the rebound, but he's looking a lot better

Only 4 games left

Seeding does matter - open at home instead of Columbus, last line change, etc

Sullivan calls Kunitz's lower-body injury 'longer term'

Given the page on the calendar and the fact he'll be an unrestricted free agent after the season, winger Chris Kunitz might have played his last game in a Penguins uniform.

Kunitz is out “longer term” with a lower-body injury, coach Mike Sullivan said Sunday afternoon.

“I don't think there's going to be any one guy who replaces what Kuny brings,” Sullivan said. “He's a good player. He's a hard guy to replace.”

STILL HOPING FOR HEALTH

Ron Hainsey was in the lineup after sitting out Saturday's practice for maintenance. Kuhnhackl took Kunitz's spot on the third line with Matt Cullen and Hornqvist. Call-up Josh Archibald moved into Kuhnhackl's spot on the fourth line.

Beyond that, it was status quo for the Penguins, who are missing Evgeni Malkin (shoulder), Kris Letang (upper body), Carl Hagelin (lower body), Olli Maatta (hand) and Trevor Daley (knee).

Sullivan said the team has not ruled out any of those players for the start of the playoffs.

In a perfect world, he said he'd like to work some of them into the lineup for at least one of the last four games of the regular season this week.

“We'd love to get them to get some game action so they can improve their timing and game conditioning and all of that,” Sullivan said. “Our guys are doing their best to try to go through the rehab process to make that happen. At the end of the day, we'll see what we end up with and we'll make it work, regardless of what happens.

“We've got some veteran guys that have been through this in the past. Regardless of which way it goes, we believe they're all making progress. We'll be happy to have them back, hopefully sooner rather than later.”

LESS INFORMATION

With the NHL lagging far behind its pro sports counterparts in North America in the area of injury disclosure, Sullivan promised Sunday he'll release even less information the rest of the way.

“Moving into the playoffs here, I'd rather not put timetables on these guys,” Sullivan said. “We'll update you as these guys make progress.”

CBJ @ PIT tonight 7:00pm est
5:00pm MTC time

-with both teams already a secured playoff spot, I hope for a clean hockey game. Minimal to no injuries. Both of these teams have a dislike for each other. So yeah, just hoping for a clean hockey game

Good strong 1st period. 4th line of the Pens strikes again. Up 1-0 end of the 1st.
Two PP's already. Although the Pens didn't score. The puck distribution and play set up looked amazing. Quality scoring chances. Sheary had a nice look. The kid usually banks those in. Perhaps the team is holding back until the playoffs

Gave up a shorty.4-1... can they make it a game without injury?something in the water cooler?
