Adrian Peterson indicted in child injury case

P.S. My kids are grown and out on their own. I would no more whip or strike one of my four-year olds than I would light myself on fire.

What Peterson did is sick. Seriously, using a branch on a little kid?

You don't switch or belt a 4 year old.

No discussion needed. The dude needs consequences and help. That means jail time and counseling. The only positive thing is that the league can't POSSIBLY hide this, can they?

Hide it ... no. Hide "FROM" it ... yes. Don't you find it kind of odd that with league being in the spotlight for Rice, Hardy, McDonald, we have basically heard nothing from "El Jefe" regarding the Peterson issue? He's been in hiding; hoping all of this will just blow over if he isn't seen or heard from.
 
His tweet today is that he's upset he unintentionally hurt his son. How do you not know that whipping a toddler's naked skin with a tree branch is hurting him? That says uncontrolled rage to me.
 
Agree, OFTB. think he just lost it...black out or whatever...

Im not against discipline, but this is beyond that, as the child is young.

I got beat with a belt or a hand. Have had welts on my back, ***, and legs...wasn't fun, most weren't justified. Dad was drunk most of time. I know he didn't mean it, but it made my young life hell. Made me shy, insecure, and non caring...about my self.

I have spanked my children, twice with my oldest and once with youngest. Open hand on a clothed ***.
I talked with them all the time. about anything and everything. I was always there when they failed and succeeded. They were and are my life. I never ever wanted them to experience the childhood I had. The thing my dad did that hurt worse than any whipping, was not being there for me. My games, my school functions, etc...he was to busy drinking

The greatest thing I've ever accomplished in my life is raising to great boys. By being there, being open and honest about everything, and about talking with them how people should treat one another. I'm very proud of my sons.

sorry I didn't put this in original post...Was getting at the fact that he's never there for his child/children. He can't be there to talk with them, hold them, or help them. AP may not be smart enough to realize that populating the earth isn't an achievement
 
Peterson is now being investigated for beating ANOTHER of his kids, this time leaving a scar above the kid's eye.

The mother turned in texts of him admitting to it. "Whooped" the kid in the car, causing him to injure his head on the car seat.
 
At least some Vikings Fans taking a stand against Peterson and the way the Vikes are handling the situation. They shut down their fan board and posted the following Message:

Face it, AP is the entire Vikings franchise and they can't win without him. Wins are obviously more important than any abstract concept (like morality, for example). Then again, one could say that about the Steelers too with the Doobie Brothers incident though their crime pales in comparison. I guess it's all about the money and putting fans in the seats.

CAR SEAT? Jesus, he beat a child in a car that's young enough to still be in a car seat?

Look, I was spanked as a kid. GRBdad had a paddle and wasn't afraid to use it on both my brother and I...and yes, we earned every single one of em too... but damn, Adrian Peterson is straight-up abusing kids. Leaving cuts on the kids legs, arms, chest and privates. There is no defense for this type of thing. This is slavery-era whipping...on a 4-year-old child. If I were the prosecutor in East Texas, I would tell Adrian Peterson's lawyer "you'd better prepare your client for prison...because that's where he's going."

...and what do we hear from the Commissioner's office? *crickets*

she also "shopped" the charges to different states.
an adult who was with AP at the time stated that no incident occurrred that would have been considered child-abuse.

That was the only Viking board I'd been on. This is the last thing this team needed. No AP is not the entire team, not by a long shot. He is simply one of the greater running backs in the game. Awful to loose a tool (pun intended) that good from the toolbox.

This issue with AP clearly is one needing quick resolution but the legal system moves like a snail. What else can the team do? They did deactivate him for a game showing they ARE taking it seriously. So what now, keep him deactivated until this is all done? There are two issues, one what he did do and two, he needs some sort of help himself with parenting skills. He may be one of the Greatest Running Backs in the game but his Parenting skills suck.

Again, the team isn't saying he's in the right. Far from it. But what are they to do?

As a Viking fan I'd be okay with his remaining deactivated while dealing with this situation, say getting him some help, as he clearly needs it. But keeping him deactivated through the entire legal process might not be logical.

Something needs done, period. I wouldn't mind seeing him being traded. It's going to remain a distraction no matter the outcome or resolution. AP has **** the bed, now he has to sleep in it. Viking fan base deserves better.
 
Max, I think I understand your point...but Peterson has now been indicted by a Grand Jury...so if I'm the Commissioner, I suspend him indefinitely pending a League investigation and legal resolution.

I'd do the same for any indictment...
 
First, I'll state that "not everyone should be a parent". For those that are, it takes a lot of patience, trial and error to become good at it.

There is NOTHING WRONG WITH CORPORAL PUNISHMENT. Nothing. As it has been stated already, if you need to administer CP - one should calm down first before commencing w/ the activity lest it turn out like AP's.

We know that AP punished the child (yes, perhaps a bit overboard). We know that he has multiple children outside of matrimony. What we DO NOT KNOW is "what did the child do to warrant this reaction"???

With the evidence that has surfaced thus far - I would be ashamed at the NFL and Vikings, if they respond w/ a knee jerk reaction and suspend this parent for spanking his child w/ a switch. 3-4 game suspension would be more fitting...
