I like it but just like coordinators, Shades could go winless the rest of this season and all of next season and he will be here until his contract runs out. If Deuce won’t eat Canaduh’s salary for sure he won’t eat Shades’ millions.

It's a dream but if yinz are going to dream dream big! 😁

So here are a few guys I would immediately be thinking of as HC candidates to replace Tomlin. And I know the easy answer is "it'll never happen", most likely yes, but these are who I'd be looking at for HC. Nowadays OCs are in high demand, when you have a good one you rarely hang on to them, because they get hired to be HCs now. I believe someone on this site said the best thing nowadays is to get a young great offensive minded head coach and then a defensive specialist to be defensive coordinator as they aren't really hired as HCs as much anymore unless they really really stand out. That is spot on in today's NFL.

In no particular order:

Houston Texans OC-
Billy Slowik

Miami Dolphins OC-
Frank Smith

Buffalo Bills OC-
Ken Dorsey

Philadelphia Eagles OC-
Brian Johnson

Minnesota Vikings OC-
Wes Phillips

Detroit Lions OC-
Ben Johnson

Los Angeles Rams OC-
Mike LaFluer

San Francisco 49ers QB Coach-
Brian Griese (this one might be a make him OC first before a head coach) same goes for Assistant QB coach Klay Kubiak (maybe hire his as a QB coach/passing game coordinator)

Washington Redskins OC-
Eric Bienemy (might be my least favorite of the choices)

Does all those OCs call the plays? Specifically Frank?

You have to love what Bills, Dolphins,Texans,49ers, and Lions are showing. Rams too they are just injury bitten.

I'd have to check out age too we like our coaches to stay around until you can stick a fork in them.

The Tit-ans are gonna fire Vrabel and we would take him if the Pats don’t because Defense and other 70’s thing…

That I'm not sure, that'd be something the front office would have to investigate and learn during interviews, I know that Sowik does since Demeco Ryans is a defensive guy, and Sowik was in the Shanahan tree for 6 years. At least Smith could be considered part of the Shanahan/McDaniel tree. I like what all those teams are doing with current NFL offense, they scheme well, and game plan their opponents weaknesses, what an amazing thought.......😐

If Vrabel gets fired khan could trade Tomlin for a princely sum. Bring in Slowik.
Never a losing season. Greatest coach ever.

Stupid Mike Flurio yesterday said on 93.7 The Fan two things that blew me away. ******* moron!
A) If we fire Tomlin he would have a job within the week. My rebuttal to that is “Who ******* Cares”.

B) if we fire Tomlin who would you get better.
My rebuttal, the above list you mentioned. Looks like a lot of bright, innovative young coaches to me.
Mike Flurio is a mental midget. Where do they get these guys!
Btw it’s Bobby Slowik and he’s a good one down here in Houston.

You're more likely to see Tomlin turn to Miami's QB coach/passing game coordinator; Darrel Bevell. That is assuming they didn't butt heads the year they spent together in Minnesota. And, given his history, it might not be a bad choice.

I considered Bevell, but moving from QB coach/passing game coordinator to head coach is a big leap, but I guess I could've listed him as an OC candidate kind of like I did for Griese and Kubiak

And if anything, we know Tomlin will just promote Sullivan or Thomas or grab some random Podunk OC from NCAA that hasn't done nearly anything deserving of a leap to the NFL

Ahhh, but we also know that Tomlin places a high value on his familiarity and comfortability with his coordinators. He has a history with Bevell.

Straight up Vrabel for Tomlin switch could be a breath of fresh air for both coaches and teams. I don't think Vrabel would be a good long-term option, but for 5-6 years I could absolutely him turning the team around.

Everyone he’s hired was either someone he knows or worked with before except his two best coordinators, Haley and LeBeau, and you can lump Arians in there if you want, a Tomlin promotion but not a Tomlin hire.
That’s his big weak spot, only hiring people he knows.

Just me, but I wouldn't want no cheatin' Vrabel around the Steelers. No more patricheat stink in the burgh. It's bad enough we got Gunner hanging around.

Philadelphia Eagles OC-
Brian Johnson
Well, hell's bells, he's done wonders with Hurts' development but the jury is still out if the leap from QB coach to OC isn't too much for him. History tells me, though, that any major hires by this organization are improbable but if so, I'd be thunderstruck if it did happen. But if it did happen, I'd be optimistically joyful and be the first to tell all my Steeler Nation brethren and sistren, "have a drink on me."

Nicely done!
