WTF is going on? So now Trump is turning on the deputy attorney general that he himself appointed back in January? The clown show continues unabated.

In a tweet early this morning, Trump said “I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt.”

It’s the first admission by Trump that the FBI is investigating him -- presumably for obstruction of justice. But he seems to be blaming Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general who appointed Robert Mueller as Special Counsel. It’s Mueller who is investigating Trump.

Later this morning, Rosenstein issued a statement that “Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous ‘officials,’ particularly when they do not identify the country — let alone the branch or agency of government — with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated,” adding “Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations. The Department of Justice has a long-established policy to neither confirm nor deny such allegations.”

So what’s going on? Here’s my reading:

1. Trump is furious with Rosenstein for appointing a special counsel, Robert Mueller, to take over the FBI investigation after James Comey was fired.

2. Trump would like to fire Rosenstein and put a loyalist into the position, in order to have more control over Mueller’s investigation. This would clear the way for Trump to fire Mueller. In testimony before Congress on Tuesday, Rosenstein vowed to refuse any order to fire Mueller without justification.

3. The FBI investigation is leaky. The Washington Post has been reporting on it daily, citing anonymous sources. The leaks could give Trump an excuse for firing Rosenstein, on the grounds that Rosenstein is doing a lousy job supervising the FBI.

4. Rosenstein doesn’t want to give Trump any excuse for firing him, so his statement this morning is best seen as a preemptive move.

On Friday afternoon, Claude Taylor, who worked under President Bill Clinton and still has a number of D.C. contacts, tweeted the news that Steve Bannon, Trump’s chief adviser, is now being investigated for obstruction.

Yes, and what makes it so ironic, with a republican congress, senate and cabinet firmly in place, it's still the LIBERALS and the MEDIA'S fault that Trump presidency is teetering on the edge of a cliff. It's hard not to sit here and laugh my *** off reading the alt-righters on this board try to defend Trump by constantly going on the counter attack. It's always someone else's fault. LOL. The alt-righters have over time become the very snowflakes they so gleefully mocked after the elections. It would be funny if Trump wasn't so damaging to the country. So I guess it's only funny as it relates to this board.

Yep, we all knew he was going to have to battle Republicans when he got to Washington, as well as the 3 remaining Democrats. No one predicted that the RINOs and other worthless Republicans would be this entrenched, nor did anyone figure out just how intensely deep state operatives would simultaneously work against him.

This is nothing like a Republican President having a Republican controlled congress.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Ca.) said on Sunday he believes the investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russian election meddling is just beginning.

“We are far closer to the beginning of the investigation than we are to the end,” Schiff, who is the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, told ABC’s Martha Raddatz on “The Week.”

Schiff also cited Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ testimony to the Senate last week, where he confirmed that the president asked him to leave the room before a conversation with former FBI Director James Comey. Comey separately testified that during the conversation, the president asked him to drop the FBI probe into ousted national security adviser Michael Flynn.

The Democrat added that he thinks the president knew asking Comey to drop the investigation was inappropriate.

“We don't have one ethical standard for this president and a different ethical standard for other presidents,” Schiff said.

“The president cleared the room of everyone except himself and James Comey [and] that signifies, I think, that this president knows all too well that it was inappropriate for him to be asking the attorney general to essentially drop a criminal case against his most high profile surrogate,” he said.

Schiff went on to say he believes there is evidence of obstruction.

"The fact that the president can fire someone for good cause and can fire someone for no cause, doesn't mean he can fire someone for malicious cause," Schiff said, referring to Trump's firing of Comey.

Schiff’s comments come after a Washington Post report surfaced this week claiming that the president was under investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller for obstruction of justice.

Trump said in a tweet Friday he was under investigation for firing Comey, although his legal team says he was not confirming anything.

Sorry Tibs, I think it's becoming more obvious by the day that this stuff is all a pipe dream and some extremely wishful thinking by Democrats and traditional Republicans. It's pure desperation to find some way out of their ideological crisis they find themselves in. If they were told that prove existed on Mars of a Donald Trump indiscretion, they would be pleading for money tomorrow to man a space mission in order to find it. When you don't know what else to do, you'll go to extreme measures.

The investigation needs to proceed unabated, free from any interference from the WH. Americans deserve to know if there was any impropriety or criminal behaviour by the president and his team before or after the election. It puzzles me that Trump supporters wouldn't want the President cleared of these charges, it would be in his best interest as well.

It's no accident or surprise. When you are viewed as a threat by BOTH sides of the political aisle, you need to be prepared to deal with shots fired from everywhere, whether they have any basis or not. There has been complete desperation to get him out of office from day 1 and they will look for anything they think they perceive they can find a weak spot with. Color me unimpressed.

We know Bill Clinton took $500K from Russia. We know Hillary gave up 20% of our uranium for cash that benefited the Clintons and the Clinton Foundation. We know that a senior member of the Clinton Foundation has a brother who's a registered agent for a bank in Moscow. We know the Clinton Foundation regularly took cash from our foreign enemies in exchange for pay to play.

But NOTHING compares to this outrage! Ivanka Trump and a world-wide billion dollar business MAY have done business with Russia! Burn them at the stake!
