Archers 40 doesn't translate

Enjoy your day in the sun Archer-bashers. He's played three games in his rookie year and you guys are already gloating. Not sure there's a prescription for what ails you.

no need for a prescription for perfect eye sight. Are you saying you see potential out there? Like Shazier, when he was out there he was making mistakes. But you could see why they drafted him. You could see that when he's comfortable in the system he's going to be a good player. You can see what Tuitt brings to the table, and again with more experience in the system you can see he'll be good for us. What has Archer shown? He's shown he's not shifty and can't make anyone miss, he's shown that he can't set up a block, can't read the kick off coverage, and for a 4.2 guy, he's slow.

It's not gloating, it's disappointment. We saw the signs but hoped for the best, unfortunately we're getting what we all saw from the start. He's just not a very good football player.

Tuitt has 1 tackle and no assists so far. What do you see there besides the potential we saw at draft time?

I see Tuitt, with a little playing time / experience, becoming an integral part of this team. I don't see archer being that guy. I do know the coaches should use him a little bit differently than they have been. With a little time, both archer / coaches, will figure that out. Maybe he gets his shots, but it will be a slow process to get there.

Salute the nation

you're going to base his production on stats? A 3-4 DL isn't going to get a ton of stats. But he holds hist ground a lot better than Cam Thomas, you want the DL to keep the LBers clean so they can make the plays, take up blockers, collapse the pocket. He was right there on Worilds sack. He's shown a hell of a lot more than Archer has shown.

But you are going to base Archers career on FIVE touches? Hypocracy at it's best. Tuitt has 1 tackle so I will make excuses. Archer has 5 touches averaging 3 yards a crack. He sucks I told you so. LMFAO!!!!

Aaron Smith 44 sacks, 326 tackles, 7 FF, 9 FR, 20 PD, 1 INT.
Ray Seals 32 sacks, 191 tackles, 3 FF, 6 FR, 2 INT
Kimo von Oelhoffen 26.5 sacks, 253 tackles, 4 FF, 7 FR, 8 PD

Slow ? Good lord what are y'all watching ? He may not be an impact player yet but he's not slow at all. Your confusing yourself because he's not shifty... But he's fast. Marcus Allen was fast but not shift. Eric Dickerson fast but not shifty. While I know archer will never be what these guys are. There is no doubt IF injuries stay away archer will produce many good plays for us. He's def fast and is a play maker

Not hypocracy, because I'm not basing my evaluation of Archer on his stats but from what I see, which is nothing. No breakaway speed, no shiftiness, average hands, terrible vision, inability to set up blocks, no burst, etc.

Congrats, you just named 3-4 DE STARTERS, and those career numbers are staggeringly low compared to... what's that a LBer from a 3-4. I wonder why that is.

Where has he shown his speed? Certainly not on his kick off returns, and definitely not on his swing passes.

Marcus Allen and Eric Dickerson used in any conversation with Dri Archer is retarded, calling them fast but not shifty, even MORE retarded.

Yeah..that 4.2 is deceptively slow. He'd be tracked by LBs all day in this league.......look at his poor vision ..spot on !!!

Hes gonna make some plays this year......theyll get him the ball in space or in the seams and he will bust it...watch.....!!!! And youll notice how much separation he gets between his pursuers.

a pre-season game clip is your argument? Where is that speed now? Where is that vision now? A vanilla defense not gameplanning at all for the Steelers offense is your only argument? Great, you've convinced me that what I've seen the first five weeks of the season has been a mistake, CLEARLY I've just missed the huge plays he has made, the blazing speed on his four KO returns. You got me.

Here, I have a video of a preseason game too:

did he ever make an impact in the regular season?

Its seems like some posters on here were expecting him to be in the running for the pro bowl after 3 games? He has not shown much, but he hasn't been given much to work with either. 5 touches, from a **** OC that manages to score 1 touchdown against an 0-4 team with the best QB, RB and WR trio in the league. Dri Archer should be the least of everyone's worries.
Antonio Brown had 1 catch in his first 10 games. Good thing we didn't write him off to soon?

So tell me what in 37 defensive snaps and 44 special teams snaps what have you seen to declare Tuitt the heir apparent to Smith or Keisel? That ONE assisted tackle must have been impressive.

Congrats, you just named 3-4 DE STARTERS, and those career numbers are staggeringly low compared to... what's that a LBer from a 3-4. I wonder why that is.
Oh, so I should compare Tuitt to an OLB not a former 3-4 DE... Yeah... Mmmmm Hmmmm. OK! I am trying to compare apples to apples in which by your measurement in his young career Tuitt is a bust and hopeless. Oh, no he gets an exception to your rule because you liked the draft pick while Archer who was drafted 51 spots behind Tuitt is held to a higher level of expectations... Sounds fair.

Where has he shown his speed? Certainly not on his kick off returns, and definitely not on his swing passes.
Yeah, back in 2010 that bum Antonio Brown went his first two games without any targets or yards. Hell, wasn't even active the first game so after four games he finally gets a bubble screen thrown by Charlie Batch and it only goes for 6 yards. We better cut his *** right away!
Marcus Allen and Eric Dickerson used in any conversation with Dri Archer is retarded, calling them fast but not shifty, even MORE retarded.

I never compared him to Dickerson or Allen but HOPE he can become Darren Sproles.

I also love how Martavis Bryant who "should have been" the pick at 97 hasn't even suited up a freaking game yet, but gets a pass on his rookie year. At least Archer is on kick return duty and dressing for the team. What is his excuse?

Im just sayin....4.2 speed is no joke and at some point you will see it make an impact..... 5 games in and hes played in 2-3 of em. Give the kid a chance to prove his worth and try not to prematurely write him off as a waste.

He outran everyone on the field in NJ and the only thing that kept him from scoring was he ran out of real estate (sideline) but the footage shows just how fast he is when he hits that extra gear---nobody closed (on him). We havent seen that extra gear yet because hes not gotten the ball in positions that allow him to exercise his gift. But it will come im certain and when he gets a step count it 6 cause "aint nobody catchin him".

So you are saying that players are capable of running much faster than in Pre Season games than they are capable of running in Regular Season games. Do they allow rocket shoes in the Pre Season or something that I missed?

Who? Can't even get a uniform. Yet he is an Steeler Nation draft pet, so he is beyond criticism no matter if he never dresses. But that Archer, let's blast him because I didn't like the pick and it makes me sound REALLY intelligent amongst my draftnik friends.

Truer words never spoken...

He's touched the ball 9 times. It might be just a little early to pass judgement on the pick.

If it wasn't early BEFORE he touched the ball for these people, what makes you think it's early now?

Five games into a rookie seasons is about the right amount of playing time to determine if a player is a bust. Is it not?
