Yep Johnson can play a big role. Time to step up.
Ben was "being Ben" on that INT. He tried to force the ball in between two already turned around defenders. Yes, the pressure didn't help; but, that INT was 90% on Ben...
Name one DB that is 6'9"??? This is just hilarious...I think that's the key... Archer is just not cut out to be a quote-unquote "running back" in the NFL. He's small for a receiver, which works against him as well. But there are certainly ways that you can put him on the field and use him to create opportunities. I just don't think he's ever going to make a big contribution in a more "traditional" role. And that's the reason why I have never liked the pick - because gadget players, like gadget plays, have very limited usefulness. It's not worth putting Archer on the field 20-30 times in the hopes that he'll break one big play, if we can't also expect him to contribute in the role that he's assigned when he's on the field, like running between the tackles or lining up as a receiver and beating a DB that is almost a foot taller than he is.
I'm a strong believer in having the right tools for the job at hand. In the Steelers' toolbox, Dri Archer is like a gear puller - a tool made for a specific job, does that job very well, but doesn't do anything else effectively and isn't something you need very often compared to, say, a screwdriver or hammer.
My hope is that Josh Harris continues to show during practice this week what he flashed last night, and we get a chance to let Bell rest
Last night listening to the post game sports talk I heard a name brought up by one host that I never thought I'd ever hear mentioned to be a candidate for the Steelers RB. A former Baltimore player too. I wonder if it's crossing the teams mind at all if Bell can't go for the week.
I just said this factiously in another thread (can't remember which); but, I might just give ol' Ray Rice a ring on "Tuesday" (that's a new song BTW)If he knows the rush is not going to be stopped and should have been able to, clearly, see AB wasn't open, why wouldn't he have thrown it away? You can be rushed and still not throw into double coverage.
Spike already said it - THROW THE BALL ALL OVER THE PARK ON SATURDAY.Lets be honest, we weren't running on the Ravens anyhow and frankly we shouldn't even try much more than to keep them honest. last game.... the one we won with 43 points... bell had 10 carries for 20 yards. You know how our pass D has blown monkeyballs this season, well the yardage difference between us and the ravens was a paltry 70 yards.
Yes it sucks, but we can play this one minus Bell and win
It was definitely miscommunication between him and Brown, Brown kept running, Ben thought he was going turn in, they were talking after the play for some time.
So Ben being Ben is when he screws up? Ben has done a lot more good then bad, so I'd say Ben being Ben is a good thing, maybe it was "Brown being Brown" because he's run the wrong route several times this year too.
Hoping for the best. Get well soon Chocolate Diamond.
Per schefter...
@AdamSchefter: MRI did not show ligament damage to LeVeon Bell’s knee, per source. Will be difficult to play Saturday, but will depend on how Bell feels.
Great news!!
If he doesn't play, or it is advisable to rest him, I still like our chances. **** Harbaugh and his misfit toys.Knowing that Bell is a competitor, I bet he plays.
No way I play him unless he is at least 90%. This kid is our future. If there is the slightest chance he can do more harm not only to his knee but to his head I honestly call RR. Bell was scared shitless last night, no way that don't mess with his head if he isn't close to a 100%.
As someone who just had a full knee replacement in may at the age of 53 this isn't something to **** around with. I have had four major surgery's on my knee in the last 20 years it's no joke. I take zero chances with Bell. ZERO
