Bell - No Structural Damage

Saw Le'Veon Bell walking gingerly to his car. No structural damage means he can play if he can deal with weakness, stiffness. Meds can help

According to Scott Brown, MRI confirms no structural damage to knee or ligaments. It's a pain management thing at this point. Which is not an insignificant factor.

An MRI did not reveal any ligament damage to the knee that Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell injured Sunday night in a 27-17 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, a source told ESPN.

But Bell will have to play through considerable pain if he is able to suit up Saturday night against the Baltimore Ravens, the source said, making the second-year man questionable at best for the prime-time AFC wild-card game at Heinz Field.

Media doctor report number two!

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Le'Veon Bell (hyperextended knee) has avoided ligament damage, but is highly questionable for Saturday's Wild Card game.

Bell's Monday MRI confirmed he suffered only a hyperextension on Sunday evening, but Schefter reports it will be "difficult" for him to suit up against the Ravens.

Per Schefter, it will depend on "how Bell feels." The Steelers will move mountains to get Bell cleared for Saturday's game, but he'd likely be at less than full effectiveness even if he suits up. The Steelers' best bet may be preparing Bell for a potential appearance in the Divisional Round.

the game is Saturday... no time to get a guy ready. Micheal bush is available... Arizona cut him... he might know some of the leftover O from Arians or at least Ben and the guys could translate it better than Rice on the fly...

Chris Rainey is available. put him and Dri in the backfield at the same time.
flash and more flash.
woooooo

Eh screw it, lets go big... sign Rice, Rainey, and Dwyer... it can be the all domestic abuse backfield... then we can sell anti steeler t's to the protesters out in the streets and make serious bank...

I'd be more interested if Schefter would have described how Bell walked out of the training facility.

Lowest grade knee sprain recovery time is a few days to a week, if that's the case then Bell could be fine by the end of the week,

Media doctor report number two!

Here's "Media" Doctor (acually) report number 3 (or 300):

Written by an actual board certified surgeon for what it's worth.

We don't need bell to handle the Rats. We just don't.

We will need him against DEN, and will be in deep **** without him against NE.

Sit Bell for the wild card. Two weeks rest should get him close to 90%.

Josh Harris ripped of that nice 49 yarder that got called back on a penalty. I think he can carry the load for one game.

I hate to Willie Parkers his stats but, "take away his long run" and he had 5 carries for 7 yards, and 9 carries for 16 yards for thr season. About 1.7 yards a carry. And there's no way we should be looking ahead at all, you can't just rest a player in the play-offs.

I wouldn't suit up Bell unless he is 100%. Don't take a chance. They can say it's a pain thing but his knee is now in a weakened state. It won't take nearly as much for him to suffer a major knee blowout. Sit him this week and bring him back after we put the beat down on the Rats with Harris, Archer and whomever they can find as an emergency back.

In other news, Home City Ice is reporting a shortage due to sudden massive deliveries to the South Side, and it's not to Fathead's Bar.

Bell doesn't play,, the passing game immediately suffers.. Im talking in regards to Bell's outlet receptions,, and also picking up blitz's and blocking assignments.

Give Bell the Bettis numbing shot. Just make sure they stick the correct part this time..

Funny you should mention that. Here's another (real) doctor speaking to the media about Bell's situation:

“If he suffered no structural damage (ACL, PCL), then yes, he can play,” said Dr. David Geier, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist in Charleston, S.C. “He would just have to work through discomfort, stiffness and weakness.”

Geier said pain killers toradol and cortisone are popular treatments to allow players to get back on the field quickly after suffering injuries similar to Bell's.

How ******* great would it be to see Ray Rice in a steelers uniform on Sat night, sticking it to all the Ravens and their fan base? Epic I say!

I dont think there is a word that describes that....It would be way beyond epic....

It would boost the TV ratings 10 fold too I bet.

But alas.....It wont happen.

Consider that one a blessing in disguise.... because you know they quickly learned from that mistake,

They will not overlook the Ravens; who will play hard for sure. However the Ravens have not been playing in good rhythm over the last month; playing poorly vs. poor teams: losing to a 3rd string QB vs. Texans, barely beating the Jags and uninspiring win vs. a dying Browns team. A month ago many were picking Baltimore as the favorite due to the "easy" schedule down the stretch -- the Steelers however played teams playing for their playoff futures and won 4 straight. The Steelers are playing their best when they need to be, the Ravens aren't.

On top of it, it wasn't a coincidence Ben dropped 6 TDs on the Ravens, we have a weak secondary no question, but it's improving relative to how they started the season. The Ravens "better" pass defense has been the benefactor of playing back-up QBs the last two weeks and a rookie QB the week prior to that; the last three elite QBs they faced (Roethlisberger, Rivers, Brees) torched them.

It's ridiculous to think this will be an easy game; with or without Bell. But this is a match-up that favors the Steelers for sure and the fact they have a winning record means the Steelers should win....!

Ben hyper-extended his knee vs. the Chargers in 2005 and was out four weeks - but he was hit harder with foot planted and he was in crutches. Sounds great Bell is not in crutches. Here's to hoping that my comparison means Bell's is nowhere near as serious. But even if he is not 100%, if he can play he'll still command respect and and Ravens will have to account for him; the game will be won on the arm of Ben.

Bell is now riding stationary bike according to Tomlin. That a good next step. Need to keep it warm, get blood flowing, and not let the knee get stiff.

Tomlin said he had just seen Bell before his press conference and that the situation will be taken day-by-day.

"He was down there on a stationary bike training like he was preparing for the Tour de France, but that's Le'Veon," Tomlin said.

"It's going to be based on how he feels and how effective he is. Rest assured, we're going to make the right decision."

Tomlin confirmed that free agent running back Ben Tate was in the building but did not announce that a signing had been made.

"We'll explore that," Tomlin said. "We'll not only explore his health but his mindset... and where he fits."

Translation: "We're going to give him Legarrette Blount's phone number in case he ever wonders whether he'll have a bigger role here than backing up Bell."

Dude, we are way past avoiding it getting stiff. That has already come. I read that he can barely walk at all. But we have 4 days, we won't know until game time.
