Bob Woodward's New Book - Fear: Trump in the White House

Ahem, my response was to this post by Davenport, who seems to be suggesting the whole Op-Ed is a sham not even written by someone in the WH.

It wouldn’t be the first time the Times did something like that... you just have to go back to the last two republican presidents to find simular senior white house official claims that ended up being interns or previous administration people... there used to be some smartass times hater published an annual book of everything they got wrong, blatantly lied or mosled about, exaggerated, ignored, or buried to further their own narratives... an annual book.. think about that... remember retractions aren’t front page news and typically news reported wrong is always forgotten by everyone but the extremists...

If this op ed is correct, great, but if this does end up being a conflated stretch to get Trump, then it is time that the Times faces charges... its no different than anything else... you have freedom to publish truth, regardless of what that publication brings with it, but once you start manipulating stories to meet agendas you are propaganda and no longer the press... and again, if the op ed is actually written by a trump senior official thats one thing, but as more and more are not only denying it but giving the times the ok to release their name if it was them, the pool of such people is dwindling quickly.... if this turns out to be bogus it doesn’t end well for the times

Unnamed sources along with printable verifiable facts are fine, particularly ones with multiple sources.... but again you need documentation of actual facts to back up that story first... this random 1 source no name bullshit that has taken hold the past decade or two is gossip... not news.... this is narrative writing in the press at its worse... its why the Times is headed to national enquirer status...

Frankly with the way Republicans have been treated for decades, the way Bush was slandered, the way Conservatives daily across the country are called racists and every phobe under the sun, the way Hillary addressed us all...it doesn't make it right but it sure is fun as hell to see the shoe on the other foot. We took it pretty damn well for 30 years. Now when Conservatives are on the attack, Liberals melt.

You can be tough and get stuff done without grade school insults. The blatant lies are insulting to American peoples intelligence. Sorry but I simply cannot tolerate anyone that gets up in arms over Trump's lies.

Either you all forget past President's lies...Obama was one of the worst. Or you just didn't care about the lies then. Or you justified the lies then, or excused them. But to now, all of a sudden feel like politicians lying matters or it's new is simply laughable.

Absolutely does not bother me in the slightest. When you believe that Washington is filled with ******* scumbag liars like I do, you don't feel sympathy when someone calls them a grade school name. I'm not going to list all of his 4k lies here. My original point was he is constantly going on insult rants at rallies or on twitter. Then when this book came out he stated he does not talk like the book portrays him. If he really believes he does not talk like that then obviously he is not mentally there. I mean how many times has he said something then in the next couple days say "i never said that". I know all politicians lie, but some of it is not just the lies, it is the behavior. I just do not feel he is a stable person.

Seriously? A few posts ago I pointed out a lie. Its not hard to find a list of his 4k lies. Some of those are debatable of course, but others are blatant. He lied about David Duke, Stormy, Trump Tower letter, trade with Canada, "I dont talk like that", the Obama birth certificate, he has flip flopped countless times, sometimes several times with in a few days. It just goes on and on. For the record I never said Trump was racist. At this point I do not believe Trump is racist.

I do not care what the MSM says. I am not debating jobs, military, etc etc. I think that part is going well. Like I said I think the policies are fine. I just wonder how much of it is Trump and how much is the rest of the staff. Trump does not seem very bright and is unwilling to learn. What concerns me is if what is stated in the book is true about him not listening or people stealing documents off his desk for national security purposes then that worries me. If you can not come up with intellectual factual arguments as the president of the United States and resort to teenage insults and repeating the same 5 catch phrases over and over then that worries me. It also worries me that people are willing to defend him at all costs. I feel like the majority of die hard supporters are totally brainwashed.

I dont need the mainstream media to tell me about Trump. Remember Trump "knows more about ISIS than the generals."
