Canada FIRED

I’ve never heard of one guy being OC and another calling plays…says a lot about the quality of the staff that no one on staff can do it all in my opinion

I actually like this idea, because of mid season and a lot on the plate for the one guy. I think each, respectively, will be doing their respective jobs as well.

Tomlin sounded like a petulant child at his PC today...really makes me believe that firing Canada was NOT his decision.

Tomlin needs to start feeling the heat, he should have felt it 6-7 years ago but it needs to happen now. He's responsible for this mess with the offense. He had a say in the Fichtner, Canada offenses and he will have a say in what happens going forward. Tomlin is the problem.

Yep. We will see. We need to because if it is Pickett we need to decline his 5th year option. As we should with Harris' 5th year option. Colbert didn't hit any homeruns in the first round his last handful of drafts. That is for sure.
We have to make a decision on Harris this offseason. pickett has another year. Based on the presser, there is 0 chance pickett is close to being benched

Here is the thing… the players were in open revolt… they were a few pitchforks shy from storming the south side facility and liberating tge offense by force… that in and of itself was a very good reason to terminate him… as was his three year absolute miserable results…

But THE most fireable offense came Sunday

And I am not just talking about the weird play designs or miscommunications… because you can sort of pin some of that on players doing the wrong thing…

After the Owner had dismissed Fitchner because of his inability to get a good run game together… and brought in Canada because he was going to rebuild the run game…

The team lost by three in a game against a division rival with the best pass d in the league… and the Steelers had a RB averaging OVER 14 YARDS per carry… and we called 9 total run plays for him… in fact, we called a lot more pass plays than run plays that game… and more running plays for the other back who wasn’t as productive…

I mean the playcalling was always out of sync… but that usage was criminal
lol

Tomlin compared Canada to Cam Hayward in replacing him on the field, you need two people to replace him lol. That's classic. The accurate comparison would be Limas Sweed, where anyone can replace him. Tomlin was shook during this press conference.

Sounding petulant probably because the fans got their way and not him.

Basically they to do what they did with Haley, meaning the FO hires a new OC and tells Shades to leave him tf alone.

And because Duh was HIS guy, HIS hire, and everyone could see that he was terrible.

Bill O'Brien when he gets released from the Pats after this season would be on my short list. Also, Jon Gruden would be someone I called today to gauge his interest.
Bill O'Brien is an asshat and should go back to the NCAA where he belongs. Gruden has too strong of a personality for Mike Tomlin to handle. MT couldn't handle the Bruce let alone chucky

Chucky’s doll would eat Tomlin alive.!!!

Sounds to me like Faulkner will handle the running aspect of the offense cause he's the RB coach and Sullivan the passing cause he's the QB coach... yes, this is how Tomlin makes his decisions lol. This team is a disaster.

To be fair it was twitter
If it was Steelers depot on Twitter it was still Steelers Depot.

To be fair someone who claims to know football extensively should be able to decipher a simplistic message board rule

You can go back to pretending you have me on ignore now.

Hi.

So we have one guy being OC and one guy calling plays. How does that work exactly?
Plenty of teams do it. They'll have an OC and head coach will call the plays.

Since we are all speculating that ARll did the firing .... Which is true, as he is the owner and had to sign off on it anyway .... How about we speculate this.
It has been reported that Tomlin was kinda upbeat after the loss Sunday.

Is it possible, especially given the Steelers history of not firing OCs during the season, that Tomlin went to ARll earlier about firing Canada and Deuce said no? Or, I haven't seen enough to fire him based on our record. Is it also possible that Tomlin was upbeat following Sunday's loss because he felt he now had enough ammo to take to Artll to get him to sign off on firing Canada?

I think this is at least as likely as Deuce making a "call from above". My personal belief is that Tomlin wanted to fire Canada after the Houston debacle (when he said "changes are coming") and Art ll said there wasn't enough "stink" to the offense for him to sign off on the firing.
And the defense rests, Your Honor...

This is Tomlin trying to appease people to keep them happy. I bet they both wanted the role so he's splitting it to not upset someone. This is how Tomlin runs his teams.
