Canada FIRED

Why would Ben want to come out of retirement, being with his wife and kids all day, every day, to come back to help a team that basically pushed him out the door. He has said repeatedly that Tomlin did not want him back. Would you come help out if that happened to you?
If Ben decided to come back to help out it would be for his ego. And Ben does have a massive ego.

I Guess this means we will pass to the tight ends over the middle of the field
The organization saved huge on sod replacement because there was no wear and tear on the centre of the field....

Baby steps ..... that savings on turf offsets Matt Canada's remaining salary

So, here's a possible plot twist. What if the Deuce did this without Tomlin agreeing and Tomlin is now pissed off? Would Tomlin walk after his contract is up? If Tomlin raises a ruckus but plans on staying, would the Deuce not renew Tomlin? Hmmmm........

Such a massive ego that he has basically stepped away from the team and the spot light, done nothing with a broadcasting job on any of the networks, and instead hosts a tiny podcast in his basement.

See my post on the MT presser...

Sorry, but if you watched that whole presser and still think that was on Tomlin, then we will agree to disagree. He was defiant and short with anyone trying to get any information on the entire situation. He was literally acting like a petulant and sulking child

Ok. I didn't see the whole thing and I know you wouldn't lie to me... like Cooch and Bob.

I’ve watched quite a few of his podcasts and am actually surprised about how humble/ down to earth Ben can be. Of course he has a bit of an ego.......what superstar athlete doesn’t?
Reminiscing with your buddies, free beer, hundred million in the bank.....I think he’s quite happy doing his podcast.

Perhaps getting used to the microphone for the future? Who knows.

Coach Tomlin's opening statement was "I made the change at the coordinator position" ~1 minute 24 seconds from the beginning...I'll keep watching but are you saying/implying that he's lying??? Just curious...

He may have made the change, but I’d bet he was forced to do it. Pittsburgh media is reporting ARII made the call to fire Canada.

That's cool - a non-issue for us fans. The result is what we were all looking for so there's that...

While we are all celebrating this victory, who here actually believes this will fix our offensive issues?

Changing OC mid-season means that, on the positive side:
1. We CAN eliminate bad/poorly designed plays from the playbook.
2. We can slowly add new plays that include different blocking schemes, patterns, reads and/or options.
3. We can change the "look"/progression on some plays to make them less predictable pre-snap.
In other words, we can limit our play selection to stuff that mostly works while adding new stuff slowly.

What making this change WON'T do:
1.Fix our OLs inability to pass block for more than 2 seconds.
2. Change the ability to see what/if the issue is KP in the passing game (see 1.)
3. Fix the issue that all teams will know our upcoming plays before we attempt to execute them (at least not until pre-snap looks are changed/disguised).

Ben has said it too, we won't be able to properly evaluate KP until he has an off-season with an "actual" NFL caliber scheme. PLUS, if we don't replace our OL coach with someone who can teach our OL how NFL players use their hands/grip to engage the DL on pass plays and stop w the "punch" contact BS, we won't be able to pass any better, IMO.

So here is my feeling. It's not getting much better this year because they are left with the same play concepts. There just is not enough practice time in the season to overhaul this mess. So at least the distraction is removed and perhaps there will be emphasis on what might work. I'd have preferred to bring in the play caller working along with the staff and current verbiage. But I get why they did what they did
I just feel bringing in someone now couod have led to hitting ground running next year.

11 pages on a Tuesday, lol. I didn’t even hear about this till now.
I hope all of you guys didn’t cruise the internet all day during working hours! 😁😁😁

I’m not going to harp too much on who did the firing. It’s done. It’s a step in the right direction. And of course....it’s about time! I’m not expecting miracles, but it sure will be interesting reading the body language on Sunday.
