Watching Sanders play for the Broncos really pisses me off. It's quite obvious to me that he is playing harder, tougher and more focused than he ever did for Roethlisberger and Steelers.

No Sanders was a pretty good receiver now he is a pretty good receiver with a better QB.

Well, playing in that offense, you knew his numbers were going to go up. Denver's clearly the best team in the AFC and perhaps in the whole league. Will they seal the deal in January and February though, that's the question.

Again what is the point of instant replay?

It's not really the numbers, it's the fact he is consistently making the acrobatic/tough catches for the Broncos that he very rarely, if ever, made for the Steelers.

I always knew he was talented, but it is disheartening that the Steelers could not get more out of him.

Unfortunately it has to do with a QB that throws timing patterns instead of playground football that does not reward crisp route running.

Have to agree to an extent...case in point being that last td to emmanuel. couldn't have been more perfect. But this IS peyton manning, after all

What's more likely:

(1) Sanders became a COMPLETELY different receiver, dropped the constant brainfarts, and learned a million and a half new skills over this past summer

or

(2) he benefits from the greatest pure passer ever, running wide open across the middle on every snap as the least talented and accomplished receiver on the field?

Face it: if Wheaton signed over there tomorrow, he'd be putting up these same numbers.

We'll know by then if the fix is in for Manning to be the first QB to win a Super Bowl with two different teams. /slight sarcasm

Sanders was good with the Steelers despite what Steeler fans thought. Because he dropped like 3 passes and fumbled once he sucked. People argued with anyone who contended that he was a pretty good player. He was...and is. Now he's playing with Payton Manning so of course his numbers will be a little better but it's not like they were bad in Pittsburgh.

The last QB to win a Super Bowl over age 30 was Brad Johnson of the Bucs, all the other great QBs over 30 have failed repeatedly, Brady, Peyton, Brees, etc.

See how the calls go for the Broncos as the season progresses.

By the numbers, he was among the least efficient wideouts in football last year. Brown and Cotchery posted good to great efficiency numbers, while Sanders posted horrid ones. Numbers are "a little better"? Try better to an otherworldly degree.

Three drops? LOL.

People have complete revisionist history on Sanders. Complete. He was very consistent in his play. He had the big drop at the end of the year last year and people now try to act like he sucked the whole time he was a Steeler when in actuality it's just that they are pissed that he didn't make the big play.

He has the possibly greatest QB in NFL history, statistically speaking, throwing him the ball. Yeah his numbers are gonna see a definite uptick,

Aother TD catch for Sanders/

Manning is not the best pure passer of all time, Marino , Sonny Jurgenson and Unitas were all better, Put them in this era and they all are better than Manning.

That, plus they overpaid for him to keep him from going to the Pats*. Me and most of the board thought they should have let him go then.

Of this era, I should've said.

Pretty damn good company none the less.

No revisionist history in pointing to the stats.

What did you see that was consistent? He generated little yardage per target, couldn't get open v. over coverage, and was useless on deep balls.

Suddenly, he runs through miles of wide open grass with a pinpoint HOF passer and he's legendary.

This isn't an uptick. This is a jump from "among the league's worst" to "among the league's best" over one summer.

Manning is an interesting story, he is like Barry Bonds, putting up the best numbers of his career way past his prime years , although unlike Bonds he is not juicing and in fact is no where near as good physically as he was in his prime as his arm is spaghetti weak.

Sanders was not the problem. Ben has just never been an "on time" QB with his passes

Could be that they just weren't a good fit. Ward OTOH was kind of a freelancer himself so it worked. My knock on Sanders was just that he was out hurt a lot with mysterious foot injuries.

Sanders is a route runner. He always needed to be a slot WR and that was the plan when they had Brown and Wallace outside, but Sanders was constantly injured. Last year was his first real injury free year and with Wallace gone and Wheaton injured, and Cotchery being slow as hell, Sanders had to play outside.

These refs are awfully friendly to the Broncos tonight.
