We need a big ole bubble butt NT.....That is what makes the 3-4 work......Unfortunately those guys are few and far between.
Denver would bring in a pass rusher and a corner in our situation
let us see what this FO does this offseason
I wonder if going to a 4-3 would be an option. They are struggling with OLB. The front 4 could be McCullers and McClendon at tackles, Heyward and Tuitt at ends. Shazier becomes an OLB, maybe Timmons the other OLB, and Williams Middle. I don't know. I'd explore it. They have to do something different on that side of the ball. Of all the plays that were frustrating last night, the one that got to me the most was when it was 20-15 and they got the Ravens to a 3rd and 13 and Blake gave up the first without any fight. The defense has just been played too long and everybody knows what is coming. That's fine if you have great talent, but they seem to be having trouble finding the talent at key spots.
I said this in an earlier thread, but Howard Jones has an opportunity here. I really hope he watched everything that Deebo did this year. From getting to the facility early to lift, to his film study and preparation. There's no other guy he should've been learning from besides Peezy and Butler.
I've been considering that they may even be drafting preparing for a 4-3 switch, but who knows. We have drafted well offensively (WR especially), but Def has been an issue in drafting and it never used to be (Although Tuiit looks like he'll be great, Heyward is already coming into his own, Jury's out on Shazier yet, Jarvis isn't progressing but he may yet improve still up in the air with him, haven't seen Shamarko yet don't know what's going on with him, Spence and Williams have been good not great, and Timmons has been underrated for years). Defensive and Offensive line (Maybe having Munchak's opinion now will continue to help) drafting must improve
whatever it takes to get to a QB. If a move to a 3/4 a few DTs will be needed. One to replace a ineffective Cam Thomas, the other for pass rush depth at the position..........
That leaves Heyward and Tuitt as your pass rush. One more collapsing the pocket body is desired. Not sure Mclendon or McCullers brings that push on a consistent basis.....
More so McCullers.........
Both Tomlin and Colbert will be here as long as they want to be now to many of our dismay.
I have no idea how they won 11 games.
They lost to the Jets, went 2-2 against the worst division in football, and even the so-called great offense Tombert has assembled has struggled to score for the past month and has been made to look better than it is overall by a few isolated offensive outbursts.
As it pertains to Colbert, I just do not think the drafting of Bell and Bryant should offset all the mistakes that have been made on the defensive side of the ball.
yinz mean Jarvis?
Well, him too. But I really meant this guy: http://www.steelers.com/team/roster/Howard-Jones/23382add-0b4c-4c18-b8ac-c9ee2c890fca. The undrafted rookie OLB on the practice squad. Harrison's story should be an inspiration and driving force for H. Jones. And he has had the opportunity to observe how Harrison prepares, etc. I hope he used this time wisely.
Of course, they got to the playoffs.I'm curious to see if he extends Tomlin the customary "two years left on the contract" extension this offseason.
Of course, they got to the playoffs.I thought the extension was a certainty going into last night, but given how poorly they played, I honestly don't know now.

Jones is a natural pass rusher, but coming from shepard, I doubt he has the pedigree our coaching staff needs to give him a legit chance
Oh yeah forgot about him. Give him a shot sure. But that should be in a backup concept with still bringing in proven talent..............
If I was a betting man I would have won a **** load of money predicting this thread......Pitiful that so many of the members here constantly want to play the blame game....thank GOD none of you run the Steelers organization....The Steelers haven't had a losing season since 2006 and still we complain...If you don't like the Steelers do things then root for someone else...to be upset with the loss is one thing but some of you take it too far....
