The court system has become a public reality TV show and the mob is the dictator of outcome. Thank god these just souls didnt fall.
I have a lot of faith in the jury system. You know why bizarre results - hot coffee, $800,00 verdict! OJ found not guilty! - make the news?
Because they are really, really rare. You don't hear about the approximately 750,000 jury trials every year (civil and criminal) that result in intelligent, well-founded verdicts.
Juries are smarter than a lot of people who don't have experience with juries believe. Again, the outlier verdict gets all the attention. A jury of 12 will inevitably have numerous homeowners, apartment residents, professionals, those with graduate degrees, college graduates, high school graduates, those who work full-time, part-time, students. I talk to juries after trials and find out they noticed things I did not, or put evidence into context that I did not. 12 sets of eyes see more than one.
The concept of a trial by our peers began in England in 1215. I have read pompous bleating from liberal blowhards, diminishing the Magna Carta. "Hah, it talks about castle guards!" The Magna Carta provided that citizens would not be held without a speedy trial (6th amendment), the punishments must fit the crime (8th amendment), no citizen is to be held without sufficient sworn testimony to support a charge (4th and 5th amendment), and citizens are entitled to be judged by a jury of their peers (6th amendment).
The utter ignorance of those mocking this document is breathtaking. Juries work. Believe in them - and believe in the American system, the greatest rules for governing the populace ever devised.
Tv, media, press all must be separated from this or it shall too fall.
Agreed. It is so easy to destroy, to burn, to denigrate. That is what the left does - they never build anything, they just destroy.
The bill of rights should be the beginning and end of every question of those who think they can rule me or my family.
