Don't worry guys it's not Tomlin it's "outside noise..the fastest way to break up a team" from the media according to Najee. I would never question Najee's toughness on the field but this is weak, weak, pathetically weak sauce. So the guys in that locker room who are supposed to be mentally tough are brought down easily by media criticism. Dear God...........what a bunch of tittey babies and not just with the name Pickens. This is "Steelers Culture?"
It's hard to hear, but it's right at the beginning.

No way in hell I'd want that contract of Lawrence. That jagoffs are idiots for shelling that out to a guy not even remotely worth it.

Beggars can’t be choosers. Steelers have no QB. This draft sucks for QB. Lawrence has been up and down but he has tons of talent. He can be very good in the right system just like Goff. Maybe you can re-do his contract in the process.

Create a position inside the Steelers organization for him… move his salary there. Give everyone a BS excuse… he saves face, and the team gets a new coach.
It worked for Seattle.

Oh I've watching him some since he was drafted, don't forget I live down here. I have seen way more bad than good and some really awful play.

But if it got our HC on to his next job,I'd be all for it.

They'd love being .500 or just above down here.

I always think about what the Miami Hurricanes fans did. Flew blimps over the stadium with how they wanted that coach fired and shortly afterwards he was.

When yinz are ready let me know.

I was just going to post the same thing, Tape. I routinely watch high school offensive lines execute better.

This isn’t week 1. This is the playoffs and these guys still mess up plays regularly

What the hell do they actually do in practice? Play ping pong? Smoke weed?

You would think after an entire season of repetitions, this stuff would be second nature. Nope.

It all goes down the drain.

He did say he saw improvement in the passing but then came the Naw...

Sounds like he knows it doesn't matter who throws the ball if the game plan still sucks
I hadn’t thought about him not understanding the question. Or his brain, such as it is heard pessimistic. Guy is not all there.

Jimmy johnson just said the Steelers and the Cowgirls outgha swap coaches.

Hi guys... Ravens fan here, but I love the Steelers when we're not playing you. Our teams are among the last of the smash-mouth football era.

Have you seen the Steelers the past 10 years?? They are soft as microwaved butter.

Regarding Tomlin, we hear the same calls to fire Harbaugh when we lose a playoff game and it would be silly to do so. The big issue is this... who is a better available coach? The answer is usually "nobody".

This argument is called "begging the question." You presume that no better coaches can be found because no better coaches can be found.

Meanwhile, here are a few of the "not a better coach" guys hired the past 8 years:
  • Sean McVay
  • Sean McDermott
  • Dan Campbell
  • Matt Lafleur
  • DeMeco Ryans
  • Kevin O'Connell
  • Nick Siriani
  • Kyle Shanahan
  • Dan Quinn
I submit every one of those coaches is better than Tomlin. For crying out loud, if they trail at half of a playoff game by less than 20 points, they are by definition better.

As an outsider looking in, I think the same is true for the Steelers. Tomlin is a great coach.

Why would you say that? Because he "Barry Switzered" a SB with Cowher's roster in 2008?

In my humble opinion, he takes teams farther than they should go with the talent he has available (often to the detriment of the Ravens, btw). This year is no exception. The weak link in the Steelers organization is talent gathering, not coaching, and getting great players at every position is very difficult in the NFL.

He took over a roster with three HOF players (Roethlisberger, Faneca, Polamalu) and two more who merit serious HOF consideration (Ward, Harrison). He had incredible additional talent in players like Ike Taylor, Aaron Smith, Brett Kiesel, James Farrior, and Casey Hampton. With that talent, he won ONE SB.

There was a time when the Steelers had guys like Big Ben and Troy P with strong support at every position on both sides of the ball. What does Tomlin have now?

So Tomlin is put in a freezer and pulled out every July to coach guys he had no role in selecting? Or maybe, just maybe - stay with me here - he picks players who fit his imbecilic soft coverage, and brilliantly insists on playing 2 defensive linemen while getting raped by the opponent's running game.

Not much. The Ravens have been on a roll in recent years in the talent department. I guarantee you that, if Tomlin had the current Ravens roster to work with, you guys would be heading to the Super Bowl.

Look at the 2016 Steelers, with Ben Roethlisberger, Leveon Bell, Deangelo Williams, Antonio Brown, David Decastro, Maurkice Pouncey, Alejandro Villaneuva, Stephon Tuitt, Javon Hargrave, Ryan Shazier, James Harrison, and Bud Dupree that was routed in the playoffs? Like that, you mean?

There would be insane young talent lining up for this job, knowing they had job securrity for loooong time. That's why they won't fire him until the stands are empty, which will NEVER happen.

If he would agree to be traded, I really don't see a market for him. A few teams might inquire, but not the entire league as we are led to believe. I don't think the Steelers would get a significant return for him either. Organizations know he's just mediocre.

Coen would be a great guy to build around. He made Levis a 1st round pick and is doing wonders with Mayfield. His offense is fun to watch.

You're underestimating how many teams would love to have the Steelers issues. Unfortunately, he won't be going anywhere.

Actually, as a Ravens fan, I'd like to see the Steelers follow in the path of the Titans and fire a great coach. How'd that work for the Titans?
The Rams fired a great coach, how'd that work out for them? Oh that's right they went on to win the Superbowl.

How about Philly, they fired a great coach, then a few more and won a Superbowl 5 years later.

The Steelers are not going to fire Tomlin still owing him 48 million. I don't know if it's considered the Steeler way to trade their long-term coach if Tomlin wants to stay. I think our only hope in the near-term is for Tomlin to formally request to be traded since he's not going to walk away from 48 mil guaranteed. Unless someone gives him more guaranteed.

If that doesn't happen, the only thing that might save the team near-term is for upper management to handcuff Tomlin by taking away most of his power. I don't know what rights he has by contract, but tell him he's going to basically be a figurehead and face of the team with little input. Bring in coordinators and assistants that will actually have the power to game plan and call their own plays. Focus on people with a history of good player development. Taking away his power might be a way to get Tomlin to want to go on his own and make the team better at the same time.

I'm now fully on board with the Tomlin needs to move on crowd. I think a change of scenery will benefit him and the players. As of now, it appears that he's lost the vets in the locker room and on the field. He's not a developer of younger players (or coaches) outside of a couple of positions, so the younger guys never really improve beyond a point. I'd like to see them bring in fresh blood.

My youngest kids are more Chiefs fans than Steeler fans these days and it kills me. It's hard to want to be a fan of a team that never sniffs the super bowl. When your best defensive player has never won a playoff game in his career, that is something loosing teams players say. The Browns have won more playoff games than the Steelers since my youngest has been following football. I don't know how anyone can still back Tomlin at this point after the team no showed once again in a big game yesterday. They have plenty of talent especially on defense. What they don't have is someone at the helm that can effectively use it or make the needed in-game changes to compete.

A big part of this player development and roster management. I think they only have around 5 players who are on at least their second contract with the team: Boswell, Heyward, Watt, Freiermuth, Highsmith. I think that's it.
