This game was a tale of two halves and unfortunately the Steelers couldn't do anything on offense and couldn't stop Cincinnati's offense either in the second half as our Steelers drop to 3-7 on the season. I'll say this Kenny Pickett played very well in the first half making good reads and good throws....I'm not sure what happened in the 2nd half but it would appear the Bungles made the necessary adjustments in the 2nd Half to pave the way to victory. I am sitting here wondering if the Steelers and Coach T made any adjustments in the 2nd half because it sure as hell didn't look like they did. Pickett and the Steelers offense struggled in the 2nd half at one point Kenny was 5 for 16 for 47 yds in the 2nd half.....just Brutal! A week after seeing the Steelers have good success running slants over the middle of the field our Steelers failed to run a single slant this game. I guess it worked too good last week as we completed 4 slants last week, 3 for first downs. Instead Matt Canada put in more WR wrap around runs and WR handoffs and shovel passes to backup TE's to try and offset the success we had last week running slants. At this point Matt Canada has shown me enough to convince me that he has gotta go! I'm still pissed off he wasn't FIRED during the BYE Week. The Steelers offense needs a few more HOGS up front on the O-line and it should start with a new anchor at LT unless the Steelers can get Will Anderson Jr in the first round. The Steelers sit at the 6th overall pick in the NFL Draft if the season were to end right now.

As for our Defense I have lost all confidence in Teryl Austin as our Defensive Coordinator....not that I ever had much faith in his ability as a DC especially after a horrible performance with the Bungles in 2018. This $108 Million Dollar defense has far superior talent on this roster than the 2018 Bengals Defense. This Defense is giving up an average 387.1 YPG through 10 games and with 7 games remaining they are on pace to come close to one of the worst Defenses in NFL History! The 2018 Cincy Bungles Defense yielded an AFC Record worse 6,618 Yard given up in the 2018 season. The only NFL Defense that was worse statistically was the 2012 New Orleans Saints who gave up 7,042 yds on the season. The performance of this Defense or lack of it seems more like scheme to me than talent. These guys should be a Top 10 Defense with the kind of money they've invested in these players! I'm not sure what the solution is here going forward but I'm confident that Teryl Austin has gotta go! I don't know if you give Brian Flores a chance here or not? Flores could be a Head Coaching candidate in the off season though I'm not sure anyone would hire the guy with his track record in Miami and the aftermath that occurred there.

I still say this team is underachieving this season.....I did see some progress today from Kenny Pickett despite a terrible 2nd half and I'm excited to see how he does the rest of the way. He made some nice plays out there today......I feel like he's making better decisions with the football but still missing some plays out there....that should continue to improve going forward. George Pickens needs to get the ball more....the guy is going to be an absolute monster for us in the future. Najee is showing good improvement and is more decisive in his runs. With 7 more games to go this season I just hope we continue to see these guys get better and better. Just imagine how good they could be a with a real Offensive Coordinatior!

TJ Watt - This guy is an absolute monster on the field. He can't do it all himself but his INT today was just ridiculous....and it's the 2nd time he's done it in 3 games this season.
Pat Freiermuth - 8 rec 79yds....great effort today after the catch.
Cam Heyward - Once again he was disruptive for much of this game 7 tackles, 1 sack

Game Goats:
Pressley Harvin - This guy started the game with 2 months punts 56 & 52 yds...his other 4 punts he averaged 41 yds including a 39 yd punt when he needed to flip the field. We can find a better punter on Waivers
Arthur Maulet - I hate the put this guy on here because he plays with heart but Tee Higgins ate him alive on several plays today....Why was he covering the Bungles #1 WR several times today? Teryl Austin?


FU's:
Matt Canada - No Slants thrown today after 4 successful slants last week led to 3 first downs. This man should have been FIRED during the Bye Week!
Teryl Austin - This guy flat out sucks! He was terrible in Cincy in 2018 and he might actually be worse now considering the talent he has on that $108 Million Dollar Defense
Mike Tomlin - **** YOU for not firing Matt Canada during the Bye Week! "We don't live in our Fears!" 3rd & 25 at Midfield and you run a draw play? THROW THE DAMN BALL! Play to win!

Yep and they did nothing to schematically slow him knowing the success he was having. They keep putting round deficient area players in the same square peg.

The two best coordinators during Shades' tenure have been LeBeau and Haley, the only two he didn't hire.

The whole thing is like groundhog day. Same passes, same guy beating us on D, just no adjustments. The first half was promising offensively then they just totally shut down the second half. What team does not throw a single slant? I don't even blame Maulet 100% he was not given much help. Can't imagine if Chase was playing

I want to see a copy of Canada's playbook....I'm curious how deep the playbook actually is. Hearing stuff like this makes it all the more frustrated that Tomlin didn't fire this guy.....Yes Kenny Pickett is getting experience but now he's and the entire offense is going to have to learn an entirely new offense next season. And one of the biggest reasons this team needs a change. How many years have I been preaching about the lack of X and O's? Hard to win consistently when you aren't a smart team. When you are dumb on both sides of the ball. Effort only takes you so far. You need to be able to make competent offseason and in game decisions.

With the talent level being high on every single team in the NFL, the coaching,play calling and teaching become the most important variable in achieving excellence.

That part of the league is not equal in talent.

If the standard is just to compete every year. Then the Steelers hit it.

I haven't seen anything in a long time that would lead me to believe the objective is to be the best.
Now it needs rebuilt from the lines out. The status quo of coaching and player development needs to change to bring back a culture of striving to be the best.

They have an obvious pattern. The HC is incapable of running the X and O and hires coaches that aren't highly proficient in that area as well. Canada is more gimmicky than smart. With the DCs failing track record he was promoted to DC? Oh we will be able to out execute them. If you have a group of stupid you will perform to that level no matter how you execute. Your talent can win you some games here and there. But stupid will always float back to the top.

Harvin wasn't nearly as bad yesterday as painted. Punts were 56, 48, 39 (not good but not a shank), 54, 41 (fair caught at the 10), and 35 (fair caught at the 7). All of that in windy cold conditions. I'd actually call that a pretty good afternoon.

Canaduh just has to go. The first half, they made things work but his 2nd half play calling especially in the 3rd quarter where we gave up our lead was horrendous. Three 3 and outs to start the 2nd half all with dumb first down calls. Then we had a 3rd and 10 or less and the play was to have Gentry go out 6 yards and turn around. WTF was that? That was THE play call. It had no chance of converting. Didn't coaches used to teach players to get passed the line to gain and then turn around? I don't get dumb plays like that.

He can improve the talent level which can improve chances of victory enforcing wills. But that won't get you victories when it matters most- when you need to be able to adjust in critical moments of the game. The choo choo will continue to roadblock. Some fans will say hey they are more competitive though! But those pegs will be still there trying to force their way in.
