Iran's response ... missile attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq

An engine fire isnt going to make it explode into little pieces right after take-off

I watch all the Air Disaster shows, im an expert investigator now

Maybe someone installed one of them spark plug igniters in the center fuel tank again, what missile?

I haven't investigated the plane crash yet..Been too busy briefing Trump this AM but anyways....

LOL at the big bad response from Iran last night. Hell I been more impressed with what the neighbors set off over the 4th of July. There is more to this deal than meets the eye I think. Has anyone ever thought that Solemani was set up by Iran themselves? Someone internally wanted him dead? I guess we will never know but I don't buy how easy it was for us to have a drone and a couple of hellfires waiting for him at the airport. He had asurances on the Iranian end he was safe. No way he had a brain fart and set himself up like that.

Someone feeds the CIA some info, he thinks he won a all expenses paid vacation in Baghdad, and boom he's dead.

I apologize for airing out my frustrations on the board last night.

You're no more sorry than the raging alcoholic who says "sorry" in the morning and grabs the bottle again that night. Spare us.

There is no need for it

The FIRST accurate thing you've ever written on this board.

, you all know what I think and how I feel about this President.

Yep. We understand your obsession, TDS and psychosis knows no bounds.

You forgot to admit, you really do enjoy hearing yourself talk.

I repeat, **** off. If you can stop being an insufferable, insulting, group-labeling, vile prick you Alt-Left, AntiFA fascist, we can all engage in decent dialogue (see how that works).

Listening to the media on all of this, had they and the far left been in charge in the 80's, the Berlin wall would still be standing.

Sometimes you can't be a complete *****.

Sometimes you can't be a complete *****.

The hell you can't be.

And we didn't tell the dems. Imagine that. Those asshats would out all of our intel sources in a flash just for political gain. A LOT of people in Iran want that regime out. That's why we will get a ton of great information and it will continue.

Trump won. Iran looks like imbeciles again. No one, except for those who want to, thinks that the Iranians did anything, or stood up to the US.

Dead terrorists are good. Strong military is good. Trump is good.

Next.

Thank you, President Trump, we are finally at war again, something deeply missing from our lives.
Tibs, I know you get frustrated, but you DO know that Obama had us involved in more military conflicts and wars for longer than any president in U.S. History, ya?

Obama was actually the greatest warmonger president this country has ever had.

As for the answer to the Embassy attack, this guy was actively trying to attack American soil and kill every person inside the Embassy. And you think the U.S. ought to have just... maintained our 20 to 25 years of foreign diplomacy? What happens when they drop a suitcase bomb in St. Louis? Do we maintain our 20 to 25 years of diplomacy and start scouring YouTube for the specific "mean video" that made those folks in St. Louis deserve to die?

I am not a tremendous fan of how much money is spent on U.S. military maintenance. But the truth is, we have far and away the most advanced, well-trained military in the world. The ONLY thing keeping the U.S. from literally decimating (look it up) Iran is how upset it would make the rest of the world, and of course our sickening determination to use up all THEIR oil before we use ours. Hell, WE don't even have to fight. All we have to do is tell Israel, "You know what... Go ahead." Israel could wipe Iran off the map in 2 weeks. And that's if they did it all subtle-like.

I'm no fan of foreign aggression, but when someone tries to kill everyone inside your embassy, you HAVE to respond. Immediately and convincingly.

My’ ******* President? President Obama was ‘your’ ******* President as much as mine, for two terms.

You’re sad and pathetic. We can trade barbs and insults until the end of time.

I want to see America back to being the country it’s been for over 200+ years. Trump is an ingrown toenail. He’s an outlier, not what America represents or is all about. Hopefully this alt-right nightmare will end and America can get back to normalcy.

It will end in 2024 when Nikki Haley gets elected.

This could be the greatest conservative renaissance since Reagan. Of course it's not the conservatism you like. You're a wannabe socialist and globalist, you just don't have the balls to admit it.

I love nationalism. I love this country. I don't believe in apologizing for what we did 100 years ago.

Iran is a bad actor. The Iran deal was never going to work. Iran was more involved with disruption in the Middle East the last 5 years than they have been the previous 20. That's on Obama's policies, not Trump's. Iran was emboldened by Obama's passive nature and their growing wealth to promote Shiite extremism in Yemen, West Bank, Syria and elsewhere.

All of these conflicts, despite Obama's drone warfare against them, were being funded and supported by Iran.

Under Obama, starting with the stupid withdrawal in 2011, Iran has infiltrated and basically turned Iraq into a proxy ally. Iraq's Sharia-Law Constitution (which never should have been allowed or supported) gave all political and monetary power in Iraq to Shiite Muslims in the south of the country. Their Constitution and form of government gave little to no power to Sunni and Kurdish minorities in the north (and partly led to the rise of ISIS, which is a completely different discussion).

Trump's 2016 platform was simple. Withdraw from the Iran Nuclear Agreement because it was flawed and not going to work. Iran's aggression since then is completely THEIR CHOICE, not forced, not unavoidable. Iran's proxy wars around the region, which started under Obama, just increased during Trump's Presidency until Trump decide enough was enough.

Iran has publicly, for years, espoused the spread of Shiite Islam through the use of violence. This is a position supported by a MAJORITY OF THEIR POPULATION, not a fringe, radical position held by a few in positions of power. They denounce the existence of Israel (again, a MAJORITY OF THEIR POPULACE WANT THIS). They condemn and wage war against fellow Muslims of Sunni faith.

There is nothing righteous or good about Iran right now. The fact millions protest in the streets should tell you the level of radicalism and anti-western rhetoric held deeply by their populace. They ARE the enemy. The propaganda, the leadership, the populace. All forces against western ideals and positive economic and religious change in the region. They are the ugliest side of what Sharia Law can and often does to a country.

The United States, its allies and our people should be in solidarity against perverted Sharia Law in all forms. Just like we were once (and should be again) against Communism and the totalitarian regimes of Russia and China. They are forms of government that ABUSE, RESTRICT and KILL their populace with no sense of law, order or justice.

I don't know what happens next. I think Trump has shown great restraint. And I know he will not lead us into a ground war with Iran. Whether we retaliate against these attacks that took no lives is unknown. We might just let it lie quiet for a while until Iran chooses to continue their proxy wars further against Western or Sunni assets. Trump has shown that he will not accept aggression, no matter how small, when it takes the lives of U.S. or western civilians or military personnel. That's the line in the sand and Trump isn't going to be ***** Obama on that. And it SHOULD be the line in the sand you agree with.

The fact you don't speaks of how distorted your world view has become in your cloud of hate for Trump.

I want to know how Canada is going to respond to the airplane crash and subsequent refusal to turn over the black box.

There were at least 30 Canadian kids on that flight. Trudeau has a serious problem. He may actually be required to DO something.

They’ll ask for it and maybe get it after Iran has scrubbed what they need to. Or they will state it was destroyed and nothing was salvaged

The White House
Office of the Press Secretary
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 8, 2020
REMARKS BY PRESIDENT TRUMP
ON IRAN
Grand Foyer
11:28 A.M. EST

THE PRESIDENT: As long as I am President of the United States, Iran will never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.

Good morning. I'm pleased to inform you: The American people should be extremely grateful and happy no Americans were harmed in last night’s attack by the Iranian regime. We suffered no casualties, all of our soldiers are safe, and only minimal damage was sustained at our military bases.

Our great American forces are prepared for anything. Iran appears to be standing down, which is a good thing for all parties concerned and a very good thing for the world. No American or Iraqi lives were lost because of the precautions taken, the dispersal of forces, and an early warning system that worked very well. I salute the incredible skill and courage of America’s men and women in uniform.

For far too long -- all the way back to 1979, to be exact -- nations have tolerated Iran’s destructive and destabilizing behavior in the Middle East and beyond. Those days are over. Iran has been the leading sponsor of terrorism, and their pursuit of nuclear weapons threatens the civilized world. We will never let that happen.

Last week, we took decisive action to stop a ruthless terrorist from threatening American lives. At my direction, the United States military eliminated the world’s top terrorist, Qasem Soleimani. As the head of the Quds Force, Soleimani was personally responsible for some of the absolutely worst atrocities.

He trained terrorist armies, including Hezbollah, launching terrorist strikes against civilian targets. He fueled bloody civil wars all across the region. He viciously wounded and murdered thousands of U.S. troops, including the planting of roadside bombs that maim and dismember their victims.

Soleimani directed the recent attacks on U.S. personnel in Iraq that badly wounded four service members and killed one American, and he orchestrated the violent assault on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad. In recent days, he was planning new attacks on American targets, but we stopped him.

Soleimani’s hands were drenched in both American and Iranian blood. He should have been terminated long ago. By removing Soleimani, we have sent a powerful message to terrorists: If you value your own life, you will not threaten the lives of our people.

As we continue to evaluate options in response to Iranian aggression, the United States will immediately impose additional punishing economic sanctions on the Iranian regime. These powerful sanctions will remain until Iran changes its behavior.

In recent months alone, Iran has seized ships in international waters, fired an unprovoked strike on Saudi Arabia, and shot down two U.S. drones.

Iran’s hostilities substantially increased after the foolish Iran nuclear deal was signed in 2013, and they were given $150 billion, not to mention $1.8 billion in cash. Instead of saying "thank you" to the United States, they chanted "death to America." In fact, they chanted "death to America" the day the agreement was signed.

Then, Iran went on a terror spree, funded by the money from the deal, and created hell in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and Iraq. The missiles fired last night at us and our allies were paid for with the funds made available by the last administration. The regime also greatly tightened the reins on their own country, even recently killing 1,500 people at the many protests that are taking place all throughout Iran.

The very defective JCPOA expires shortly anyway, and gives Iran a clear and quick path to nuclear breakout. Iran must abandon its nuclear ambitions and end its support for terrorism. The time has come for the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Russia, and China to recognize this reality.

They must now break away from the remnants of the Iran deal -– or JCPOA –- and we must all work together toward making a deal with Iran that makes the world a safer and more peaceful place. We must also make a deal that allows Iran to thrive and prosper, and take advantage of its enormous untapped potential. Iran can be a great country.

Peace and stability cannot prevail in the Middle East as long as Iran continues to foment violence, unrest, hatred, and war. The civilized world must send a clear and unified message to the Iranian regime: Your campaign of terror, murder, mayhem will not be tolerated any longer. It will not be allowed to go forward.

Today, I am going to ask NATO to become much more involved in the Middle East process. Over the last three years, under my leadership, our economy is stronger than ever before and America has achieved energy independence. These historic [DEL: accompliments :DEL] [accomplishments] changed our strategic priorities. These are accomplishments that nobody thought were possible. And options in the Middle East became available. We are now the number-one producer of oil and natural gas anywhere in the world. We are independent, and we do not need Middle East oil.

The American military has been completely rebuilt under my administration, at a cost of $2.5 trillion. U.S. Armed Forces are stronger than ever before. Our missiles are big, powerful, accurate, lethal, and fast. Under construction are many hypersonic missiles.

The fact that we have this great military and equipment, however, does not mean we have to use it. We do not want to use it. American strength, both military and economic, is the best deterrent.

Three months ago, after destroying 100 percent of ISIS and its territorial caliphate, we killed the savage leader of ISIS, al-Baghdadi, who was responsible for so much death, including the mass beheadings of Christians, Muslims, and all who stood in his way. He was a monster. Al-Baghdadi was trying again to rebuild the ISIS caliphate, and failed. Tens of thousands of ISIS fighters have been killed or captured during my administration. ISIS is a natural enemy of Iran. The destruction of ISIS is good for Iran, and we should work together on this and other shared priorities. Finally, to the people and leaders of Iran: We want you to have a future and a great future -- one that you deserve, one of prosperity at home, and harmony with the nations of the world. The United States is ready to embrace peace with all who seek it.

I want to thank you, and God bless America. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you."

He finished his speech, turned around and walked back into the sunlight.

Brilliant

This guy is more like DCS/Ops and he was in country directing the storming of and attempted take over of our embassy. Not an apples to apples comparison Tibs. If you had ever served you would know command and control assets are valid targets.

But it's not like Soleimani had a military rank or wore a uniform, Ogre.

1.7958553.3586453875.jpg

Okay, but it's not like the Viet Cong and NVA targeted leadershipt (command and control).

Wait ...

Thanks DBS for making my point. Soulimani has been a strike-dead target for decades. He could have been taken out a long time ago. The overriding sentiment was, why drop a match into the powder keg that’s the Middle East?

More like dropping a turd into a cesspool, Tibs.

**** the Middle East. **** them. We don't need their ******* oil. Let those goat ******* kill each other.

Trump just stuck a finger down his throat and decided to heave it all up, 20-25 years of foreign policy down the drain.

Seriously, you're defending the American policy in the Middle East over the past 20 years?!? You correctly pointed out that the Iraq war was a monumental waste of American troops and billions upon billions of dollars. I argued that keeping the conflict over there had value, that establishing an actual functioning, representative government in the Middle East (besides Israel) had long-term value, etc.

But as it turns out, spending a trillion dollars in the Middle East and more than 6,000 troops dead, 50,000 injured (some horribly), was a giant ******* waste. A horrible waste of our people, some of the best we have - brave, healthy, ready to make our country safe.

If we spent a trillion dollars defending our Southern border and put those 56,000 men to work in manufacturing and construction, and if we actually took steps to protect our nation from our greatest enemy - China - our nation would be VASTLY better.

So when you criticize the President for throwing out a failed foreign policy, please try to remember that you correctly argued that foreign policy sucked.

**** the Middle East. Fracking means those countries can take their oil and use it to lube a goat's ***. **** them all.

This is a position supported by a MAJORITY OF THEIR POPULATION, not a fringe, radical position held by a few in positions of power. T

Great post Sir. I only disagree with this part. My limited exposure through organizations working there, and foreign press seems pretty sure that the populous at large there hates the oppressive government, and would love to return to a pro-western, peaceful society.

Our foreign policy as it relates to the middle east has been misaligned for decades. We should leave the middle east alone. Let them fight it out. We don't need their oil or their people. Cut them off from the west. Let them figure it out. We can't export western society to people that are still in tribal mode.

We have had to spend so much - incalculable in terms of the people lost, billions upon billions in terms of dollars - to learn that. And now that we are free of the crippling reliance on the oil from that part of the world, every leading (D)im candidate promises to shut down fracking, the very reason we are free of their oil and now - FINALLY - energy independent.

So what you're really saying is that Democrats are stupid?

After weeks of peace and sense, Tibs shows up last night like:

After no one died, and Iran's attacks were feckless and ONCE AGAIN it looks as if Trump is smarter than damn near all of us, Tibs be like:

You need a new magic trick Tibs. After seeing it 39 times, we're bored.
