James Harrison....weightlifting animal....

I could get a hell of a work out just loading and unloading the leg press.

James will defintely be ready this season unlike last. He will be ready to go from day one. His workout routine should be setting the example for the young gauys. Hopefully Uncle Jarvis is watching.

I wish he would stop the workout videos etc. He is drawing unnecessary attention to what might be in his supplement regime. Bad move.

When reading some of them I was having flash backs to Coaches posting of his wonderlick score. I think that is fairly impressive work out when you consider he is doing it in sets of 15 and multiple sets. I remember as a young Police applicant many years ago they tested us on the max we could lift at various positions on the universal gym and I was able to leg press the entire stack, but that was one time and many years ago. The really impressive thing is he does that and has agility and speed and tremendous power from many other muscle groups as well and he is no longer college age but getting close to 40. James plays the game the way it should be played and works out to be able to do so, I said it before he should have been the one we kept not Woodley.

Blood, sweat and tears - all with natural black and gold coloring.

as I believe it to be as James has always been a workout warrior. Anyone spend that much time in the gym you are going to see results.

As far as his on the field play I am sure it will be a part time role as Porter described it in the one article we talked about............

The fact you think he is on something illegal is very humorous to me.
Don't be such a homer. If Ray Lewis at 37 years of age (and looked done three years before that) was putting out workout videos that were over the top (Leg pressing 1000lbs, Single arm pressing 150) What would you say. Be honest with yourself. I'm not saying anything about what he is taking. I'm saying he is drawing undo attention to it. And frankly I'm not such (a Steelers player would never do that) fan to think he wouldn't.

But Harrison doesn't use deer antler spray...

Ray was done ... then suddenly reclaimed a burst.

Deebo has slowed, and will continue to slow, but is still strong as a ******* ox. working out like that keeps him strong. obviously.

Can't compare normal people to the genetic elite.

If he is on something it is probably on low doses of testosterone propionate and a little growth hormone. Easy to pass tests on that protocol.

Dude is a flat out monster.

The haters comments below the article are pretty pathetic as well.

Call me a hater -- but I've done 1000 LB leg presses -- heck hit 1300 lbs. It's really not that hard -- I guess from my perspective.

Now that is not to say he's not a workout warrior. I'm willing to bet he could rep out 20 of those easy if 2nd or even 3rd leg exercise which I could do 12-15 if it was first exercise. And even more amazing was his one arm 135 LB military press not with a dumbbell but with the bar is inconceivable. His training regimen is unreal -- which he's played at Hall of Fame level from 2007-2011.

Not being a homer - but, Silverback is NOT your average NFL player or human being at the age of 37. He is a consummate workout warrior, who, takes it very seriously. The man literally "started from the bottom (now he's here)" LOL

A few years ago James Harrison was talking to someone about how much he spends on taking care of his body. His comments were he makes his living from what his body is capable of doing so he trains very hard and does things of a therapeutic nature to maintain it, like acupuncture. On the steelers web site Pouncey was talking about some of the things the offensive lineman have begun doing to try and stay healthy, he mentioned the acupuncture treatments and that they got the idea from James. I suspect he is one of those gifted folks that is exceptionally strong anyway and he trains really hard to make the most of what his genetic ability gave him.

Every so often you will meet someone like this. One guy I knew like this was huge and in and out of mental health wards for years. In addition to being huge and not fat he had an extremely large frame, handcuffs would not go around his wrists they were too big. We ended up using leg shackles on his wrists and transporting him in an ambulance because we could not fit him into the back of the smaller police cars when they started buying front wheel drive cars.

Felt sorry for the guy in a lot of ways, completely unable to take care of himself for the most part and generally not a problem most of the time. Had tremendous athletic potential that was untapped and unable to be used.

Is he doing curls with Archer?

yes

he picks up archer with one hand and curls him extends his arm back and curls him again repetitively

then when he gets tired he switches hands

it is what in the weight lifting world we call a "light workout"

Really, this is ignorant -- plain and simple.

A leg press of 1000 lbs is not that hard. I'm not even near my peak and I could do it right now -- its harder work to move and replace all the plates solo....

The man trains at a different level: guys like (even if you didn't like) Ray Lewis, Jerry Rice --- while say a Hines Ward trained hard, there are some guys that are even more intense & driven about it.

Harrison never lacked the physical ability to make it in the NFL, but coming from Kent State he didn't have anywhere near the proper coaching. Before you cite Jack Lambert from Kent State -- I cite a time where less was asked of him immediately on both team and rules. Once Deebo learned the game, and how technical and specialized it is today (and do we REALLY know what that was, he looked ready to start in his brief times in 2004 and 2005) -- he was never beating out Joey Porter and Clark Haggans was getting it done very solid himself with no reason for him to lose his job.

A Harrison & Porter combo would have been devastating.....but off point....

You can't sell stupid -- and when some fool says Harrison is what he is because of HGH has no idea the dedication it takes to do what he does. Because no one who doesn' twork out realizes how hard it is and always want to go the "you're taking juice" route. Let the idiots be idiots.

Nice post. One also needs to look at someone like him also being genetically gifted as well. Some folks start out with some very natural advantages like pro athletes and when they work like Harrison they get results that the rest of us could not given the same effort. Does not mean they are cheating in some way just that they had better genes than the rest of us.

Read what I said. The point is train as hard as you want, just don't post attention getting videos of it. If leg pressing 1000 lbs is nothing, why make a deal of it? And anyone who says that if a player on another team, of the exact same age was doing the EXACT SAME THING, there wouldn't be big questioning of his supplements, you're a liar. Its the same thing with the Ben thing. You replace the name Ben Roethlisberger with Tom Brady and there would be an insatiable, non ending enjoyment. I'd be the most happy. BUT I CAN ADMIT IT.

Better genes in the stregnth athletic department, not neccessarily, genes in general. Just saying.....
