Kavanaugh hearing

Booker must forget she brought these claims forward in July. He's painting Kavanaugh as saying she should be silent. ******* tool

I don't know, I would have expected Kavanaugh to stay the norm and be calm in the middle of the storm, steady hands on the wheel, etc. His reaction seems a bit over the top. Like with Trump and Russia, it's hard for me to understand why Kavanaugh wouldn't want an FBI investigation into these charges that clear his name beyond reproach. Instead, we're getting a visceral, emotional plea that's intended to pull on heartstrings and sway public opinion. From a bird's eye view, not very reassuring given he's up for a Supreme Court seat.

And if he was quiet and calm you'd be saying how could someone be so flat and unemotionless if they were falsely accused of such a crime.

Let's face it, with people like you and the Dems whose goal is to bring this guy down there is no way he could possibly act that you would view as a positive.

Willie Brown's mistress is awful. HOW is she being considered a Presidential candidate?

You know I think this Ford woman was actually brainwashed into thinking she was mauled by the judge. And how insecure is it when a person who teaches psychology has to go see a shrink?

It's like the old adage about comedians. They can make everyone else happy and laugh but are usually the saddest people on earth. AKA Robin Williams.

I can speak from experience that most people that become psychologists are themselves very psychologically damanged and it's a method of comings to grip with their issues.

Doctors are the worst patients. The list goes on and on.

I thought the hearing was gripping television. My opinion is as follows:

To me this was never about "who to believe". We knew it was a she-said/he-said from the very beginning. That's the point. You can't derail a nominee on only a she-said issue that happened 36 years ago when Kavanaugh was 17 years old. Not without SUBSTANTIAL evidence to support your claim. This accusation, no matter how heartfelt and honest appearing, does not have adequate corroberating evidence. It just doesn't.

I think the Democrats and Diane Feinstein in particular really took it on the chin with respect to knowing about this allegation for 45 days and not informing the other committee members and not asking for an investigation/FBI involvement earlier. They just can't shake that aspect of it and the obvious political tactic to withhold it and leak it to the press at an opportune time. That is a TRUTH no matter how Feinstein tries to spin it otherwise to "protect the victim". That's complete bullshit now that we know the leak to the press came from within her party.

I think he gets confirmed. I think Flake will vote yes and if he does it so will Corker. That's all they need.

In all honesty, after hearing Kavanaugh speak for probably longer than any Supreme Court Justice I know, I'm glad he's going to make it. He and his four nominated female clerks deserve it.

A lot of people who go into that field are ******* nuts to begin with. They're trying to figure out what's wrong with them as well. It's a sham. All of it.

Another beer break? ;)

And who cares if it is? Drinking to excess in high school is not a reason to tear down a nominee. Many successful and great people drank to excess plenty of times. And there is no if/then connection between IF he did drink to excess in high school he was THEN a serial sexual predator as a teenager.

I drank like a ******* fish in college. I binged drank almost every weekend. I cringe knowing just because I drank like that, in today's culture, I was probably a prime target to be falsely accused of rape and there probably wouldn't have been a damn thing I could say to defend myself.

And do I drink like that now? At age 48? Not even close. Not nearly as often. Not nearly to excess like that. I have a job, wife, kids and responsibilities that demand I can't just piss away weekends or be hungover. Bottom line: you GROW UP. Kavanaugh was GROWING UP when this took place. And it's bullshit to hold him to the standards of judicial behavior at age 17.

There isn't one 17 year old on the planet that acts "judicial" enough to be on the Supreme Court under the guidelines Democrats wanted to go by today.

Agreed. Earlier in the day I was concerned. Later in the day, emboldened. This turned on the Democrats in a way I don't think they saw coming. I don't think they expected Kavanaugh's fire for one. That opening statement of his was a thing of beauty. And by the way, his tears were real.

Then it turned massively when Graham went off. I think the Dems were TRULY surprised by that bold faced, stark attack. He put them on their heels.

And then Feinstein had been attacked so many times for withholding this evidence, that she felt compelled to answer. But they had really no answer on how this got leaked. She looked BAD trying to defend this. Bad.

Americans that watched saw this for what it was - a political ploy and I think Dems came of this looking very, very badly.

For the life of me I can't understand why won't he just say: “I would like to have the FBI investigate and I’d like you to call Mark Judge up here to tell you and the country under oath that this never happened.” He seems desperate to avoid saying that. If you were innocent, wouldn’t you say that?

No, because that in essence, is asking for a delay on the voting. And that means more time for more (in his mind) crazy accusations to come forth.

I wouldn't want that if I was in his shoes, would you? Drag this hell out further?

The ******* democrats sat on this for 45 days BEFORE the confirmation even started. They never ONCE asked for an investigation or FBI involvement. And they could have easily done that behind closed doors without the press getting a whiff of it and protecting her name.

This is pure bullshit by Feinstein and her posse and you know it. They were exposed today.

For the 10000000000 time. There is NOTHING for the FBI to investigate. She can't remember the ******* YEAR it happened. She also can't remember the house. All the people she said were there said they WEREN'T. There is NOBODY to interview and no place to investigate. It's a ******* sham. The FBI themselves said they don't do that kind of work. That's for the local authorities. But they won't take the case either because there is nothing to investigate.

Judge already did so under oath. Give it up. You're full of **** like your dem heroes.

Lets go farther... the locals that can investigate this are still an option if she really wants to pursue “justice”. she was claiming attempted rape and possible bodily harm... sexual felonies have no statute of limitations.

The reality every single Dem needs to swallow is that this was always a sham delay tactic and it doesn’t matter if you believe her or not. Period.. that’s the brutal truth... even if true, this matter handled like it was has become irrelevant to the vote. Hold the vote, confirm him, and literally say that playing politics like that with this kind of accusation will never be tolerated again.

Are there any laws about constituent confidentiality? Someone leaked this story to the press, and according to Ford she told no one except for her congresswoman and her senator. Maybe we need a special counsel.

well her senator said Ford testified that she talked to her friends about it....She didn't seem real pleased when Cruz asked the Chairman about if there was a procedure to handle an investigation quietly if she had brought the letter up when it was received...

Feinstein threw Ford right under the bus and blamed her. Just a horrible look all around for the Dems and her comments and walking it back as her staffers were handing her notes was mindblowing. She actually put at Fords feet as expected when things turned sour.

Today Judge once again offered to answer questions in private. Given his history of addiction issues it's not surprising he doesn't want to do it publicly. One can only imagine how Dems would treat him. Of course what happens to any individual human being is of no consequence to them.

Its OVER. Dem Senator Joe Mandion will be voting with the Reps for Kavanaugh on Saturday.

Little surprised to see all you 'moderates' so giddy to confirm a highly-partisan, emotionally charged judge to the SC. I prefer my supreme court judges less frantic and overtly emotional. Kavanaugh is full of rage and tears, railing against 'the system' and his 'political enemies.' He's not the first or last public figure to face sexual assault charges. How you handle them - provided you're innocent - says a lot about your character. To each his own I guess.

You're a hypocrite. If he had come in and been reserved and didn't seem upset you'd be the first one on here bitching because "Innocent people don't act that way. Where is his fire?". What tells me about your character is you are willing to destroy a man's career over a 36 year old lie with NO evidence, NO witnesses, NO corroboration. That tells me more about your belief system your lack of character than anything... But to each his own I guess.
