LIVE THREAD:RNC National Convention Day 1 July 18, 2016

I can't believe the hub bub over the plagiarism. It got Joe Biden to Vice President. And since she's not running for office, idgaf.

This "controversy" has taken the spotlight off the speeches of Rudy, the Benghazi mom, and the cop (Clarke???) . All three knocked their speeches out of the park and HAMMERED Obama, Hillary, and the MSM. THAT is what we should be focusing on, not a few words that have been in every ******* political speech since the beginning of mankind.

It is purposeful. The last thing they want anyone doing is focusing on those other speeches, because those speeches are the truth. Every night there is going to be something else to take the focus off of the true substance.

Agreed. We are on the same side of the argument.

So you're generalizing that all models are stupid? The likes of Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Cameron Russell, Gemma Ward, Tyra Banks, Laura Shields, Iman, Karlie Kloss and Lilly Cole would love to take issue with you.

And being married = exchanging sex with a man? Instead of saying she's married to Donald Trump now for 11 years, to you she simply exchanges sex for his money. So using your logic, Moose smothers Bammy for his power and to be First Lady, it's an exchange agreement - they aren't married?

Got it.

Go on, please.

Man are you uptight!

Jus like I perdicted!

It's official: Trump is Republican nominee

The New Yorker's embrace by the Republican National Convention marks a remarkable moment in U.S. political history and validates a campaign that shattered precedent, defied pundits and usurped the GOP establishment.

In Trump's age of social media campaigning it was a pretty big flub to have her speech so easily made fun of in a nice 30-second clip for the world of facebook.

I don't think it will hurt in November, but it took away an opportunity for Melania to HELP in November with some women voters that might be on the fence about Trump. It's unfortunate but for 99% of the country, that little 30-second cut up is what they will remember of Melania because I actually think she's got a pretty good head on her shoulders.

She certainly would be as good, if not better, than the precedence of first ladies before her. She'll find a cause, attach her name to it, visit with school children, wine-and-dine the dignitaries and their wives and probably clean up the White House and make it a lot better after the Obama's. Let's face it, what property EVER gets better after blacks live there... :censor:

I, for one, hope that Melania will champion the Free The Nipple movement. And you pathetic libtards who think she mimicked the Moose, this are common phrases that the Odummas do not have trademarked. And she could have said it in five different languages that your dumbasses couldn't comprehend.

I agree that we have heard that speach before, however it is almost word for word what Obama said. If it was song lyrics and it went to court trump's team would have no shot at winning.
I am sure other people have stole speeches or parts of speeches before but that is not the issue. You are talking about having 1.5 months to prepare a blockbuster speech and they use that.
Best case scenario is the Trump campaign is totally clueless and used a crappy generic speech. Why not have Melania talk about more personal things. I mean she lived what Trump is preaching. I seriously bet that half the board members here could have written a better speech in a day..
Worst case scenario is they liked what Obama said and tried to sneak it in there.
Someone should have stepped in and nixed it. Now instead of talking about all the powerful speakers, people are talking about stolen words. Just a horrible campaign strategy.

she did talk about personal things. Those similar lines were a minor part of the speech and it was the only similarities.

If it was a trial as you say, Trump would win. They would argue Michele didn't write it either, that it was a common theme that should be considered in the public domain like borrowing from Shakespeare.

If it happened on the other side, you'd be criticizing it the same way the left is............don't bullshit.

This goes to show this Trump ensemble is amateurish. They have no compass, they have no real strategy other than to repeat, repeat, repeat the same talking points and we listen to Oompa Loomp Orange Sherbet over use the word "really" and inflate himself like a penis tube. This is comical and should he win in November, SNL skit writers will have a smorgasboard of material from which to craft. Couldn't have handpicked a more "lost bunch" from a row of bars in Milwaukee.

a real dumpster fire on live cam

Methinks you missed Supe' s misogynist point....

Michelle plagiarized from Saul Alinsky book "Rules for Radicals".

Michelle Obama: “…the world as it should be.” In 2008, the aspiring First Lady was accused by bloggers of lifting lines for her DNC speech from Saul Alinsky. Alinsky wrote, in Rules for Radicals (emphasis added): “The standards of judgment must be rooted in the whys and wherefores of life as it is lived, the world as it is, not our wished-for fantasy of the world as it should be.” Michelle Obama said: “And Barack stood up that day, and he spoke words that have stayed with me ever since. He talked about ‘the world as it is‘ and ‘the world as it should be.'” (Perhaps Mr. Obama who left out the attribution.)

It's all speech writers putting together focus grouped catch phrases they have generically worded so as to appeal to as many people as possible while offending no one. It's a bland way to say nothing much and so the speeches sound virtually identical. Tempest in a teapot type stuff.

Donald Trump's children painted a deeply personal picture of their father on second night of the RNC

gettyimages-577715912.jpg

Donald Trump’s children sought to paint a personal picture of their father during signature Tuesday speeches before the Republican National Convention.

The Manhattan billionaire’s lesser-known daughter, Tiffany, stepped into the spotlight first, characterizing her father as a caring, reliable figure in the family.

"He's always helped me be the best version of myself," she said.

Offering an anecdote, the 22-year-old offered explained that she had saved all her report cards from grade school because she likes to “look back and see the sweet notes” her father wrote “on each of them.”

Tiffany then touched on a more powerful story, explaining how her father helped her through a dark period in her life following the death of a friend.

“I believe a measure of a person is revealed in their darkest times. … Without his unwavering support and care for me during such a challenging time, I don’t know how I would have made it through,” she said.

Tiffany concluded her speech: ”I have admired my father all of my life, and I love him with all of my heart."

Donald Trump Jr., meanwhile, touted his father's business credentials, asserting that the Republican presidential nominee made hiring decisions based on "character and street smarts" rather than attendance at elite universities.

"We didn't learn from MBAs. We learned from people who have doctorates in common sense," Trump said.

Donald Jr. added: "He didn't hide out behind some desk in an executive suite. He spent his career with regular Americans...He listened to them and he valued their opinion as much and often more than the guys from Harvard and Wharton, locked away in offices far from real work."

Donald Trump Jr. also painted Democrats as insensitive to American workers.

He criticized Democrats for stagnating wages and the party's support for a pathway to citizenship for individuals living in the US without permission, which Donald Trump Jr. claimed "favor illegals rather than those trying to go through the process legally."

Donald Trump is expected to accept the Republican nomination for president on Thursday night.

Trump could seek new law to purge government of Obama appointees

If he wins the presidency, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump would seek to purge the federal government of officials appointed by Democratic President Barack Obama and could ask Congress to pass legislation making it easier to fire public workers, Trump ally, Chris Christie, said on Tuesday.

Christie, who is governor of New Jersey and leads Trump's White House transition team, said the campaign was drawing up a list of federal government employees to fire if Trump defeats Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the Nov. 8 presidential election.

“As you know from his other career, Donald likes to fire people,” Christie told a closed-door meeting with dozens of donors at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, according to an audio recording obtained by Reuters and two participants in the meeting.

Here's something I saw on FB.....something to think about.

There HAD to have been sabotage by the DNC over Melania's speech....who remembered THAT part of Mooshelle's speech? And how was there a comparison, word for word, basically AS IT WAS HAPPENING???

Day two of the 2016 Republican national convention is in the can. Here’s what happened:

Donald Trump was formally nominated by the Republican party to be president of the United States and Mike Pence was nominated to be vice president.

Once upon a time, the question was whether Trump could hit 1,237 delegates. In the end he got 1,725. Ted Cruz was second with 475. John Kasich got 120 and Marco Rubio 114.

Award for liveliest floor speech went to Chris Christie, who hid it well if he’s sour about not being named running mate. Christie, a former prosecutor, pretended to prosecute Hillary Clinton, and the crowd got to yell “guilty!” over and over. They also chanted “Lock her up!”

Donald Trump Jr won praise and applause for a speech that appeared to be undergirded by some conviction about his father’s virtue and industriousness. Tiffany Trump also spoke, with poise.
