My opinion on Willis

I think that the Steelers are in the perfect position to trade back. I wouldn't have a problem taking Willis at #31 so long as we have an extra second rounder in place to get the other pieces that we need.

The value in the draft is #15-45 and I keep hearing that the way players are being graded is as much down to fit in a system as anything else. So we will see what look like surprises to a lot of folks throughout the 1st and 2nd round.

Willis has openly said that he's not ready to start and he knows it which is good to hear. Adding a smart, athletic, high character guy with a cannon can't hurt. I don't think I ever heard Dobbs or Martin described as having a cannon so I think that those comparisons are invidious. Take a look at some unbiased draft profiles:

Dobbs:
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/joshua-dobbs/3200444f-4230-2360-8e14-dbbe1dede120
- Prospect Grade: 5.60 Candidate For Bottom Of Roster Or Practice Squad

Willis:
https://www.nfl.com/prospects/malik-willis/32005749-4c61-4428-8345-922a57c28423
- Prospect Grade: 6.34 Will Eventually Be Plus Starter

Very different projections for Dobbs and Willis.
Every year the media and experts find a jockstrap to swing from 24/7, Willis is this years guy. And while a cannon is nice accuracy, anticipation and reading a defense is way higher on the list. Take Willis that is fine but take him in the 2nd or 3rd where their is real value for him.

I agree this is a year to move back in the 1st round.

This argument is boiling down to 1st and 2nd rounders develop faster in the NFL than 3rd and 4th rounders.

Point taken....

And the only way we drop back, since it's difficult to drop back in the draft, is if we pass on a QB and someone wants one of them. That is it. That's the only trade back scenario. And it means we don't want any of these drafted QBs.

They draft for value at need. And sometimes reach. Them not taking a QB in 1 or 2 for me isn't a sign they don't want any of the QBs.It just means they aren't reaching.

true. and the only teams behind us in the first round who may be interested in a QB are the Titans (26) and Lions (32) - unless trading OUT of the 1st is an option

I see the Titans sticking with Tan unless they upgrade in free agency thru a trade. They would surprise me if they went QB early. In this uninspiring class.

my best friend and his brother are Titans fans. Living in Nashville and surrounding area. Tannehill lost a LOT of love this season.

I get that. He lost his play action capability. His strength. They should upgrade their backup RB to where they can give Henry a breather and be more effective say he goes down again.

They might be a realistic option for Aaron too. I look at them being a good landing spot along with the Niners.

rumors have swirled (i havent the desire to confirm/deny) that Aaaaron bought a house/land in the Nashville area.

Good point. Houston has an obvious need but I don't think they can justify using pick #3 on these QB's. They have #37 in the 2nd, may be willing to move from 37 to 20. That move would require them to give up their 3rd rounder, #68, and something like a 5th round pick in 2023.

Doubt that Houston sees itself as that close to being a contender, willing to give up that much draft capital in this QB pool.

If the Flaming Ts get Aa-Rod and Adams...AJ Brown and Adams...damn, that would be sick.

Yes. It’s my opinion. My opinion based on facts.

Dobbs

216lbs
32 5/8” arm length
9 1/4” hand size
4.64 40
33” vert
122” bj
6.75 3-cone
4.31 20-shuttle

61.5% 7138 yards 53 tds 29 ints

Willis
6-0.5
219lbs
31 3/4” arm length
9 1/2” hand size

Refused to work out

62.8% 5176 yards 48 tds 18 ints
I'm on record saying that I do not want Willis, and will be the Jarvis Jones pick all over again. HOWEVER, even posting the stats, you have yourself shown that Willis is above Dobbs quite easily. Those TD to INT numbers are not even close. Dobbs with 5 more TD AND 11 more INT. Dobbs also does not have the same shifty RB style moves of Willis.
You are arguing that Kendrick Green - a terrible center, awful, somebody who is talked about moving to guard because he is so bad at center - is comparable to Creed Humphrey, one of the best centers in the NFL as of his first year in the league.
Actually, the only thing he was comparing was their size, as another poster called Green a midget.

Sometimes these threads are pure hilarity with the lack of reading and comprehension.

He also dedicated several posts to explaining why Green struggled, it was his first year at C, he will improve, he is not that bad, Creed Humphrey not that much better. I did not compare Green's size with Humphrey, just his skills.

Hence my comment.

right now the **** are $6 mil in the hole on the Salary Cap.

If Aaron goes to 49ers I sure don't want Jimmy to come here, to many variables including not enough of a step up from what we already have rostered.

I think we are all guilty of that at times.

But you quoted his measurements post, not one comparing skill set.

I quoted numerous of his posts, the vast majority of which were stupid.

LOL. OMG. Can you read? LOL.

At a certain point, I don't care what the guy says any more. His insistence that Kendrick Green is not that far off from Creed Humphrey made discussions with him basically akin to talking to a ranting 2-year old.

Poor thing... Someone says something that is NOT true, it's pointed out and they get mad. Got to love the ranting of a 2 year old.

Go ahead praise Kendrick Green again.

LOL. OMG. BSRFS.
Great getting to edge and second level, outstanding motor, works down field as plays progress. He does need to work on pad level and punch. All of this while being bracketed by some of the worst guard play in the league and very little time as a center in college. He played like I would expect a 3rd round rookie to play. Like it, don't like I don't care.
OMG LOL Also still does not change the fact the OP was way off.

Well I guess that ain't happening.

thanks for the info, so that is probably out for the ****.

I don't think Aaron is our answer but I do think we can afford him monitarily-wise.
