Not too early: what to do at QB?

The more I think about it, the more I am leaning towards offering Fields a 4 year B/U contract with incentives. If he does well he gets paid well, if not then he becomes the B/U. I would also offer Allen the same contract and see if either takes the starting job. I would also bring in at least 2 UDFA QB's to fight for the B/U and #3 position.

There really isn't anyone out there this year that looks like a surefire starter in the Draft or FA. Fields has as much potential as anyone, and he has been in the system for a year, Allen too.

Any qb that holds a roster spot here must wear a Tomlin straight jacket. Notice i didn't say play here, just hold a spot.

As each day passes, more people are talking about Rodgers going to the Steelers. Seriously?!?! I hope Rooney and Tomlin aren't that stupid. DO NOT even consider Rodgers.
The Steelers are the only interesting team that needs a QB. They win enough to be a borderline "contender" and the media loves Tomlin. They'll connect the dots because Tomlin and Rodgers made eye contact during the game last season. At this point I don't even care. Maybe Rodgers would be enough of a disaster for this team to make significant change. Let's just make it a QB retirement tour. Rodgers in 2025, Stafford 2026, etc.

I think the Steelers will stick with Fields, and try to mimic what the Eagles do with Hurts and the Ravens do with Jackson.

Fields has dynamic running skills, arguably on par with Jackson and Hurts. That's a commodity that needs to put to use in the right system. The read/option and designed QB runs are very difficult to stop, if, the QB shows he can pass accurately.

That, IMO, is where I expect the Offense will move towards.

Ironically, I think we have bigger problems on Defense than on Off. Watching the Superbowl, it was just incredible watching the Eagles getting massive pressure with 4-man rushes. We can't get QB pressure with 4-man rushes in under 4 or 5 seconds....our line gets stoned.....

Rodgers or cousins behind our line would be an expensive disaster. Both guys are also nowhere near prime. Rodgers didn't have terrible numbers, but i saw a few Jets games and he looked bad. Cousins ended up getting benched.

According to the jags Steelers have inquired about Lawerence. Makes sense if the jags were going to make a move now’s the time to do it… Lawerence just fits us like an old shoe. Perfect qb to build around. Best for him is yet to come… fire our idiot coaching staff bring in some solid vet coaches. our young line be ready to jell… trade for Lawerence sign kupp draft jeanty… boom goes the dynamite!

How are Steelers going to draft Jeanty if they trade for Lawrence? Any trade for Lawrence would likely include the Steelers 2025 first round pick.and probably second round as well.

Also they can't sign Kupp as he is under contract. They would have to trade for him.

Would either of them bring about a head coaching change? If so color me interested.

Anyone who has watched Lawrence play would not want to give up major draft picks for the guy. Let alone take on the salary

I've seen nothing from him that would tell me he's a blue chip top notch franchise qb.

Of course Jacksonville has been an absolute **** show with coaching staffs.
So some of it is on them, still i think Lawrence is grossly overpaid for what he currently brings to the table.

That's a massive contract he just signed as well.

They're not trading him anyway.Which is great.

They need to stop all this nonsense with 37 year old Stafford and 42 year old Rodgers and 36 year old Cousins. We don’t need any of them and they should consider retiring.
Trevor Lawrence is way overpaid and over hyped and he’s not coming to Pittsburgh nor should they want him to come.
Just sign Justin before FA starts and build around him. The OL should be better, add two new quality WRs, real WRs this time not the frauds they have been bringing in here. Draft and FA should fix that. Draft a solid RB to pair with Warren who they should re-sign.
Year two in Arthur’s offense should benefit Justin and if he flops, then we draft our QB in 26.
This is nonsense wanting to bring in one of these old veteran QBs. If they’re thinking that QB brings them to a SB they are more delusional than I thought.

That defense sucks as bad as the quarterback situation. All you need to defeat it is stop TJ Watt. After that it's a cake walk.

That defense is years away from championship level and that's with a good draft or two and a new coaching staff who knows what the **** they're doing.

Teams are allowed to hold TJ so it makes the scheme even worse. A broken scheme built on applying pressure that you need elite run stopping DLmen. And stars at just about every defensive position to even hope to not collapse.

Yep the D is even worse than the QB position. It is a colossal fail anytime it goes against a capable HC.

We should go to a hybrid D with an OLB on one side and a DE on the other

The consensus here seems to be is that Fields will never be another Lamar.

He will never be Lamar hear. Tomlin would never change so many things to make t fit. The Ravens changed every thing on offense to make it work

They brought in a guy an OC that molded LJ. I think he has done special things with him.

My sentiments exactly. Fields and draft next draft (not this draft) for the HOF replacement QB. Fields may ward off the need to draft QB high. Take the risk…… beats the indebted risk of bringing in pretty boy Lawrence.

Salute the nation
