Ray Rice plea deal

Exactly! As long as the owners are making money they could careless about what the Führer does. You hit them in the wallet and they would take notice of the displeased fans. I would gather 90%+ do not agree with the Führer and want him out but do you think 90% would boycott the NFL for one single week? NO. Maybe 10% would actually do it but that is not enough to make an impact unless that 10% did it for the entire season.

Even then, I don't think that 10% is enough of an impact. The big $$$$ comes from tv etc., not the stadium attending fan. I think actual attendance would have to fall below 60-50% before it became major, eye opening. I know, the empty seats leading up to the "take notice" attendance would be alarming, but the godel would put up a fight. Maybe a lot of advertising / way cheaper tickets, stuff like that. I really wish the boycott could actually happen, but then again, you'd be relying on the tunnel vision, short sided, unless it affects me, type people to be involved. Just won't happen.

PS Has anyone heard any more on the Rice situation? Update?

Word is 2 games.

What's your opinion of that? I think minimum 6, reduced to 4 for good behavior. Similar to the blackmail sentencing of ben rothlesburgher :)

I already posted the two game rumor a couple posts up. Now, it's official. Should've been at least six. Now we know how much the NFL really cares about women.

The NFL office has once more shown how inconsistent they are in throwing out punishment.

******* Joke.

Can't wait to see all the Ray Rice Jersey Wearing Ravens Fans around town. and in Baltimore, most will be women and children

Had he beat up Michael Sam, he'd never be allowed to set foot on a field again

So let me see... if someone accuses you of something bad against women... 6 games, but if there is actual proof of you doing it 2...

This reinforces my opinion of you as not only a racist but stupid as well.

Do you even know what the definition of a RACIST (racism) is ? Most folks in this forum have a convoluted understanding of what a racist is and cannot decipher the difference between racism and prejudice.

Google both terms in a side-by-side comparison and youll see the difference.

I'd be ok with a longer suspension. I have a feeling that the part of the video we aren't seeing is his girl (now wife) hitting him multiple times and him just snapping with 1 shot. Still not excusable IMO but I think that's the reasoning.

The folks comparing it to Ben need to step back, different events. The closest comparison would be Harrison's incident. I honestly don't remember what he got though.

Definitely two different events, but one charged/guilty, the other not charged/bigger sentence. I'm not talking the civilian punishment, but the NFL standard. You do have to admit, there is no consistency. People are lumping the two, but even on separate merit, one can see Ben R. got hosed!!

Didn't the Rooneys ask for the 6 game (reduced to 4) suspension for Ben? I thought I remember seeing that.

If I remember correctly the Rooney's said they were waiting to see what the NFL did and would determine if they would suspend him also. The rumor I read is they assumed Ben would get a 1-2 game suspension and they would likely give him their own 1-2 suspension. But after the 6 game hit they actually thought that was harsh and did not suspend him anymore.

Compare it to PED users then. 4 games for taking supplements or 2 games for domestic violence, on TAPE no less. This incident is more damaging to the NFL than someone mistakenly or purposely taking a supplement. This is a criminal act and the 2 game suspension is way too lenient. Should have been 3 minimum, 4 max IMO.

The D.A. says after looking into the accusations against one player, "We are not condoning Mr. Roethlisberger's actions that night but we do not prosecute morals. We prosecute crimes." This statement shows that he is definitely tarnishing the shield and warrants a 6 game suspension...

Another player can be seen in a video knocking his fiance out cold... and his fiance is a woman (sorry Sam)... and this only warrants a 2 game suspension??? So if a player does something immoral it is worse than knocking a woman out? Its Bizzaro world in the NFL...

What did Harrison get? He was charged too. I get it, I wouldn't be pissed if it was 4 games or even 6. But what have other guys gotten for similar infractions? Comparing it to PED's or alleged rape is apples and oranges.

The most important outcome is that Rice won't be available for the Ravens game against the Steelers for Week 2. -- Insensitive Man

no matter what happened in the ben case, whether you think he did or didn't do it, there was no video of any incident. The rice incident is there for everyone to see, but I guess that's the image that piece of **** Turdell is going for.

actually, no.
this is more comparable to the Terrell Suggs incident.

I think the point being made is that it is entirely too inconsistent. I imagine they just have a giant wheel that they spin and the suspension is whatever pops up.

And even though the drug policy is part of the CBA, the violence against women is far more damaging to the shield. It just does not make sense.
