Rudolph vs Pickett

Kenny is a Steeler. So I'll continue to support him.

I want to go on the record.

Berm was not in the Kenny pick before or during the draft. I felt that there were (& I still do) way better franchise options coming out this year.

Oh well. We're stuck now so buckle up and enjoy the, er, ah, ride...
Yup to all of that Berm

My question since Kenny was allegedly a high floor low ceiling guy is: are we on the floor now or do we have to go much further down to get to that “high floor”?

Cuz that floor (like his alleged ceiling) seems pretty low too

hopefully the ceiling is higher than touted cuz the floor level for a first rounder has been unimpressive at best. Sadly MR is currently more “pro ready” than this first round prospect seems to be and we all know what Rudy brings to the table.

bogus rankings
Triple H isnt listed

Hendon Hooker HEISMAN
So you’re saying you’re a Hooker man?

We need a WR named John to go with along with Hooker…”Hooker gets it deep and John scores again!!!”

SB here we come

Jesus, you don't even know what objective versus subjective means, do you? Here's a tip: Opinions are subjective, guy. Facts are objective. How much value a year of NFL experience for a backup quarterback provides is SUBJECTIVE, but it's certainly worth something.

While your 130 attempt argument is indeed factual, we can still plainly see in the Josh Allen example that it proves absolutely nothing.

It's also a FACT that Rudolph's stats have gotten significantly worse, which counteracts your whole premise. But your excuses and OPINION somehow justify that. How convenient.

Wait, so no one else on the entire team had a single thing to do with the Steelers losing to Miami? It's a stone-cold FACT that one man and one man only, Kenny Pickett, was fully responsible? That's not an opinion? lol

Gee, and here I thought that four dropped interceptions might have played at least a minor role in the outcome.

Nah. The point is clearly at the top of your head.

THIS is where the hate for Rudolph happened. And believe me I was yelling at my TV to. It was horrid game. He lost the game for us. Fans were deservedly pissed. Why was it ok to blame Rudolph for this but NOT KP for this?

Never said you blasted him but you are definitely not convinced he is or will be anything special. I think that is fair to say? I think by seasons end your view will tilt more my way of thinking. That he has potential to be special. Not saying Allen or BigBen special or Peyton Manning. But perhaps somewhere between that and Carr/Tannyhill. Poor man's Joe Burrow. I am Nostradamusing a little here but I have faith.
If his ceiling is Carr/Tannyhill we NEED to draft a QB again in an upcoming class with more talented QBs after KP secures us a top 10 pick

We definitely will need better than Carr/Tannyhill moving forward.

I was 🤔 thinking floor not ceiling but I hear ya.

I think most know KP has contributed to losses. Most just see a lot of potential in KP. Rudy isn't a bust yet, but he probably will never be anything special.

I’ve never denied KP has potential. Just that the expectations were to come in and be ready. He’s obviously isn’t. Can’t put the genie back in the bottle so have to ride it out. I think not signing Mitch and then starting Rudolph to at least the bye week would have been a much better situation for KP than what has currently happened. With the money saved could have signed someone to contribute now or saved it for next year to resign Edmunds or Ogunjobi.

Was it realistic to think a rookie QB would come in and be ready? When was a good time to start him? Would you have been happy with the same results next year? I think growing into the role is the only option. Made an easy decision with ****** QB play opposite of him. And having Mitch brought in was solidified by what Rudy didn't show last year. And possibly an element this year as that is somewhat of an unknown. I thought he had moments of playing well but that has been his preseason approach playing well. Then not so well into the season.

I don't get why anyone hates Rudolph, that makes no sense. As far as those who think he's limited as a below average NFL starter or average backup, it has nothing to do with the bolded game, but rather his inability to throw receivers open, his lack of pocket presence, and just overall failure to pass the "eye test" as a good NFL starter. Nothing about his body of work says above average NFL starter.

Thats because you're missing one important element. Add "he has a punchable face" to all the negatives you listed. Thats the clincher.

It's true. I read it here.

This is an interesting stats. If I remember correctly, Roethlisberger as a young QB had the league’s best passer rating while under duress.
Oh so you are thinking of crossing ovah to the dark side are ya Luke?

Just because I’m not slobbing his knob and am criticizing his mistakes doesn’t mean I’m anti KP. I’ve said several times in this thread I want him to succeed. Because if he doesn’t it will set us back 3 years.

I like how you conveniently chose to not reply to everything else where I put you in your place. Smart move.

So your response is to post a very bad game from your hero. Great. Of course your highlighted game there was horrendous, and I already told you pages ago that KP's performance against Miami was even shittier than MR's last start against the Lions.

But you are putting the blame on one person. You are speaking in individual absolutes, although we all know that football is a team game. Yes, they were partly or even mostly to blame, but NO -- neither one of these players "single-handedly" lost those games. And for you to claim that to be a "FACT" is simply ludicrous.

Can't wait for your 165 pass comparison coming this week.

How did Pickett do today?

How did Pickett do today?
According to Tomlin he put the ball where it was supposed to go, and the INT was because they were down multiple scores because the D couldnt keep a lid on it

i worry about the kid's demeanor. affable guy being coached by nitwits.

if they keep him in, he's either
1. gonna keep slinging it and take more and more chances trying to hold the ball to extend plays = more picks, a terrible injury. Either way not much results to build on nor learn from - (you learn from success in today's NFL not failure as in Manning's experience. see Herbert, Justin);
or
2. Ken turtles up & gets gun-shy. Starts managing the game. Learns that.

Take him out and risk turning off his competitive nature and emotional vibe; or even stunt his growth in learning the game by disappointing him & letting him watch the suckerific offense make 1 play out of every 10. And of course leaving him in could just as well do both of those things.

idfk.

Steelers' 1st hit on a QB in several decades and they want wring the **** out of the kid his first year in the league?

Untenable situation they got him in. i think back to Ben's development - sure he had magic in spades. But it really was the kick-*** team around him that ingrained the Winner inside him. Vick on Falcons is great example as the foil to the situation that Ben had.
i knew i was on the same page as a hero of mine.

I don't understand how the Steelers can accomplish what Cowher wants. They have no semblance of a running game, and a below average defense.

We cant do what cowher wants, but we can still protect pickett. 2x today we had 3rd and 1 or 2 and launched it deep again. We tried low percent fades in the redzone. We still refuse to throw slants or crossing routes. It is simply mind blolwing. The play calling / routes are making it near impossible for this offense to succeed.

How the hell can we know that? I can give example after example after example of players looking like **** their first and even second years before becoming great. He may he may not but to say probably is asinine. I wouldn't have given up on Mason either but Kenny is now the guy. We ride with him for the next year or so and see.

Probably isn't definitely. But it is backed by what confidence they had in the guy which is zero. The reason they brought in two players at the position. That is a fair probably, nothing asinine about it.

They brought in two players A. because they always carry 4 in camp, B. the Plan was to have him sit for a year. I see nothing in doing that that says they didn't believe in him. Probably more an acknowledgment that our line and OC would get whomever started killed.
