Kendrick Green should not make this football team. He simply cannot play center or guard at this level.
As much as it pains me to say this about a fellow Aggie Big Dan Moore Jr cannot play LT. He’s getting destroyed by these speed rushers.
Devin Bush experiment needs to come to its conclusion. That 3rd and 17 play yesterday said it all for me. The guy does not have the burst he had as a rookie, plays very timid like he’s afraid of getting hurt, won’t stick his head in there, poor anticipation, and seems to always trail the plays.
I was of the opinion that Steven Sims is kept over Myles Boykin. Now not so sure. I think I think we keep seven WRs Boykin and Sims.
I think I think we keep Mason Rudolph for insurance. This OL is ******* terrible and is going to get these QBs injured.
I heard this morning that Najee has been dealing with a foot sprain so why in the hell did Tomlin keep him in the game for as long as he did?
Why did Tomlin keep TJ and DJ on the field so long? Could have ended badly yesterday
Why did Tomlin call a Benny Snell sweep on second down yesterday from the Lions nine when clearly you could see Kenny wanted a different package sent in? Could see Kenny was upset and was expecting a pass play.
There really never was a QB competition this summer. All three guys played very well. Remember Cool Shades saying last year he wanted a veteran QB as his starter.
I like the defensive line and the depth. Good young players providing depth.
Highsmith needs to be solid and stay healthy this year.
TJ needs to be TJ this year.
Not good depth behind either either OLB.
ILB opposite Jack will kill us this year. What an expensive bust Bushy seems to be.
Behind Najee who do we cut? Do we try and stash Jaylen Warren on the PS? Don’t see them cutting Snell and McFarland.
Just some things I think I think.

I agree.

We don't deviate from the plan.

Snell provides very little as a runner. But hey, he's a special team ace.

I agree on Green, but not Dan Moore. What I liked about both of them last year was they didn't quit, they kept fighting, which is important. That doesn't matter if you can't play, though. I think Moore can. Green on the other hand...

I'd like to get into the season a bit with Devin Bush before I pass judgement. Lets see when the real games start.

I think Najee needed a little work. I know the Tomlin hate, but he isn't a fool. He would not of played him if he was too injured to be out there. He didn't play guys who were on that bubble of hurt...like Highsmith. What was stupid to me was even playing Watt or DJ or Heyward. They got preseason reps. Najee didn't.

I think Warren makes the team.

Warren made the team - at least he should have. He is the best RB we have on the roster after Najee. Snell will probably be the No. 3 and Watt the No. 4 as the FB. McFarland had the one good preseason game and then disappeared like his previous seasons. He should be cut without a 2nd thought. I do think we will have a surprise or two. They very well could cut Green but I doubt it as they hate to admit a mistake. I think they give him this year to get back into playing guard but I still think he needs to add 20 pounds and somehow grow his arms a couple inches. Any defender who gets his hands on Green just pushes him back. He doesn't have the weight or technique to stop it.

Heard analysis today that upon closer review Bush was held pretty good on that play and that overall he played better yesterday. I was fishing on Erie with my son for Walleye so I Could only listen.

I’d rather they keep McFarland over Snell. McFarland at least has the ability to break away if given a decent hole to run through. Snell hasn’t showed me anything in the 3 years he’s been here, other than how to pout like a child after a no gainer. Warren has been a pleasant surprise; he’s one of these hungry extra effort guys you just have to root for. Another extra effort guy, and “smallish” like Warren, is Tyler Vaughns; he’s listed at 6’2 but looks smaller. But he and KP have a pretty good connection. He might be a victim of the numbers game, though. The Steelers should swallow their pride and cut Bush and Green TODAY.

You don’t cut a 2nd year OL, he will get some time yet.

Obviously you are referring to Kendrick Green who does not belong on an NFL roster. This was a terrible draft pick by the Steelers that should have never, ever been drafted that high. Terrible job of scouting by the Steelers. 2'nd year third round picks get cut more than you think.

Nice post.

QBs - I agree there wasn't a true competition here, but it worked out in the end. Mitch is going to be exciting throughout the year and other times frustrate us beyond belief. Pickett has already progressed as a QB. Canada is still playing it safe with him and Pickett is executing just about everything they've asked of him.

RBs - Warren is the clear No. 2 behind Harris. I like Snell over McFarland because Snell is solid on special teams and can carry the ball 25 times in a game if asked. McFarland really brings nothing to the table and his speed is useless because he can never find open space.

WRs - There's a lot of potential with this group, but we can't anoint them yet. DJ is the clear No. 1. Pickens didn't touch the ball enough so we really don't know who he is yet and we could say the same about Claypool. Disappointed we didn't get a look at Austin, I was looking forward to what he could do. There'll be some tough decisions for the final spots

OL - If Green was a day 3 pick or UDFA, he'd be gone. I'm willing to let him stick around because he may develop slower, however, I would not give him a hat on gameday. Dan Moore looks bad again this year. He cannot get it done in pass protection and should not be the starter entering Week 1. The rest of the guys have looked serviceable at best through three preseason games.

DL - Solid group when you have the three starters out there. In fact, it's a VERY good defensive front. I think they can get away with one sub, but as soon as you take two of three out of the equation the run defense will suffer. The defensive staff will have the balance this group carefully.

LBs - I'm a bit concerned with Highsmith's absence. Anytime a guy is out for an extended time it's worrisome. Not only do the Steelers need Watt and Highsmith to stay healthy, but they have nothing behind these guys. As soon as they get subbed out you can forget any pass rush from the outside. As much as I don't like Bush's attitude (Dale Lolley gave him a chance to clear up his comments and I don't think he sounded any better the second time), but there isn't any answer at the position. We're going to see multiple guys in this spot.

DBs - No stars outside of Fitzpatrick, just a solid group of players. It was tough losing Kazee as he was going to get a lot of snaps.

my call is for GREEN to be PS and a "starting" LT to be brought in (best of the scrap heap)

The ONLY way Mason is gone is if we get the right capital for him and that would hopefully be a starting LT, we may need to add to our side of the pot as well but let's make it happen.

WHO the **** is Kenny, a rookie defying the HC ? This is a pre-season game and I'm sure they were wanting to see Snell under these situations. I get he may have been disgruntled but he is over it before the next play was called.

I'd like to get into the season a bit with Devin Bush before I pass judgement. Lets see when the real games start.
Why? Because Bush played so well last season and this preseason that he earned the starting job for the real games in 2022?

I've seen enough. He sucks.

I think he will get a bit more time, not that it may make any difference. They will not cut him now.

He was coming off an ACL last year and preseason is preseason.

Look, the truth is I'm not holding out a lot of hope. I fear you are right. But in all likelihood he's gonna be here and is gonna play and I rather try to be positive about it until it is absolutely impossible to do so.

God I'm so sick of hearing that excuse. This year, it'll be: "Well, you know, he's still recovering from that ACL."

Preseason is preseason? It's brutally evident that Bush is incapable of playing his position well in ANY season.

That's nice. See you after week one.

Ok. You missed my point. I'm not making excuses for him. What other choice do we have? Do you have any control? I'd rather try to give the kid a chance and stay positive. It's a new season. Everyone is 0-0. It's supposed to be fun, for crying out loud.

The last few years of feast and famine drafting has left us in a bind. Again we are cutting 2nd and 4th round picks and should have really cut a 1st and a 3rd too but it’s leave a huge void. next year they are going to have to sign a few free agents to make up for those guys. And draft some fukn defensive players geez us! but the talent is thin a couple key injuries this defense will totally fall apart. Fire the fukn guy that suggested drafting buddy! He couldn’t cover a blanket if it was draped over him!

You missed mine: Wish in one hand and **** in the other -- see which one fills up first.

None of us have any control. Obviously. But I can still vent on here after they trot this guy out there to start the season, and he continues to show no semblance of what an adequate NFL inside linebacker should look like. It's not going to magically change on September 11th, and it's not fair to Spillane. He's the other choice. Spillane isn't a world-beater, but he's clearly a better option than Devin Bush.

And yes, bringing up Bush's ACL injury most certainly is making an excuse. That was over 22 months ago. Let's give it a break already.
