From a Pittsburgh website that I'm not sure I can post here, says that the Steelers never expected the clowns to run the no-huddle. Troy is quoted as saying "It was a nice little curveball they threw in there." The clowns never used the no-huddle in pre-season so the Steelers never expected it in the regular season. I don't understand this line of thinking. Do not all teams move to the no-huddle when they are losing by over 20 points with only a half left?

Yeah, this is absolutely mind-boggling. What kind of crackerjack operation are they running here?

I hope Tomlin called the rVens and asked for this weeks gameplan

You have got to be kidding me. Like they don't see it in practice against their own offense. Man who the hell is running the show over there?

Seriously, I find it hard to believe that Uncle Dick could possibly be surprised and unprepared for a team, any NFL team to run the no huddle. What the hell is that?

"zone blocking and mis-direction plays are a problem for us" says Tomlin. No kidding! How about up-tempo, zone blocking with mis-direction? I would suggest making the defense WATCH the shellacking dealt out by the Eagles offense in the pre-season a few times in preparation for each game.

We are selling out on movement/mis-direction too much that we are out of position. The only way to solve this is to try to keep the ILBs at home (following the ball, not the play fake) and to get better play from outside, IMO.

It is fixable BUT we shall see if it is fixed on Thursday.

I posted this in another thread. Tomlin said the D was in position most of the time but was looking to the sidelines when the Browns snapped the ball. They weren't ready for the play to start. He said it was "communication issues". Not sure who you blame that on. I believe Timmons is calling the plays on the field this year. Hopefully, the "communication issues" are easily rectified.

This is no revelation. I mean, they looked surprised.

Since I see none of the same ol' problems fixed year after year, I see no reason to suspect this is going to be fixed by Thursday.

Further evidence of the incompetence and stupidity of Tomlin.

Despite the growing pile of evidence, I keep hearing what a wonderful coach he is in certain circles. Are any of you Tomlin lovers out there starting to change your tunes, or are yinz still on the bandwagon? Can anyone explain what makes him so great (other than winning a Superbowl with Cowher's team - and they almost blew that one by taking the pressure off defensively)?

Steelers came out all cocky in the 2nd half and expected Cleveland to lie down and quit after being blown out early.

Piss poor coaching all around

We have problems defending an up-tempo, no-huddle offense that uses zone blocking schemes? Dont they practice against it everyday? Last time i checked WE use an up-tempo, no-huddle scheme with zone blocking!

I don't fully put this on Tomlin, but DL and TH HAS to take some of it, as he is responsibility. Ok, I'll give you one series. Maybe two to realize they go are going hurry-up, but at that point, it's 27-17 and we played turtleball, too. Our offense let CLE back in the game with momentum, as much as the defense. Tomlin is the HC, but he does have coordinators and players to play through that momentum.

The Coordinators get their plans approved by the HC. He is responsible. He is involved with the half time adjustments and the plan for the 2nd half.

Also has anyone see video of the players looking to the sideline when the ball was snapped. I watched the game but don't remember that happening. But I wasn't looking for it so I could have missed it.

I don't remember whether they were still looking to the sidelines. I remember thinking that they didn't seem quite ready, but that may be perception since it seems clear that they weren't ready.

I hear you about the game plan for the 2nd half, but then who is responsible to adjust to CLE going no-huddle? They can't adjust after one or two series? If they were really caught off-guard, then what in the blue Hell do they talk about regarding preparation in the locker room at halftime? Ugh!

I have no idea. You'd think after years of struggling with the hurry up that they would expect it even if the clowns weren't down by over 20 points. I really don't understand why any team would play the Steelers in a traditional offense. Everybody knows that they can't handle the hurry up/ no huddle. Just watch the pats* game from last year or anytime the Steelers play an up tempo offense. If I were the coach of another team I'd go balls to the walls from the opening kickoff. You're doing the Steelers a favor by playing in a traditional sense.

OMG like they are rookies? So the whole defensive players had never defended against a no huddle in their carrers? **** me, we are screwed

I have never said to fire him. Not even once.
not you Hollywood Bags and Franco, those two *** clowns who never have anything constructive to say just hate. Vader you are an evil *******(just like you name) but a sometimes reasonable one who can add to the conversation not just spew hate.

Well some of them are rookies. Tuitt played several snaps and Shazier play a lot of snaps. Still there is no excuse. The strange thing is that this defense was drafted to handle the very thing they are struggling with. They wanted faster ILBs like Shazier, Spence, and Timmons.

I think at this point the new speed has not been accounted for in the scheme and it needs to be.We are getting too far too fast and getting out of position. Speed is great but patience and the ability to read the play correctly on the fly are needed. Until The new guys learn the finer points we will be susceptible to misdirection. I also think we need McCullers in there to give them some breathing room and to be a roadblock to help slow things down.

Probably because I don't hate anyone. Even draft picks I don't like I try to give a football reason why I don't like the pick. I've never disliked a player just because. I don't play fantasy football and I don't hate individual colleges so I really have no beef with any college draft pick other than their tape, combine results and pro-days. I have opinions just like everyone else. Sometimes I'm wrong. I loved the Mendy/ Sweed picks. I thought they were a steal. I loved this past draft with the exception of Archer. I think Shazier and Tuitt are going to be good players. I didn't want Dennard in the 1st round. I sure as hell didn't want Eric Ebron or Nix in the first.
