Week 5 Fantasy Outlook

Week 4 is behind us, on to Week 5. The Pittsburgh Steelers look to finally get this offense rolling coming back home. The Steelers host the Denver Broncos this week who are still in question. The Broncos three wins come against three teams combined record of 2-10, their one loss, last week in Denver to the Baltimore Ravens. The one thing the Broncos have shown however, their defense is legit. They have one of the deeper secondaries in football and of course Von Miller, who is still an absolute animal. Let’s dive into what all this means for fantasy.

Must Starts for Week 5

  • Diontae Johnson
  • Najee Harris

That’s it. That’s the list.

Dionate Johnson has become matchup proof. He is Ben Roethlisberger‘s favorite target and the volume alone is worth setting and forgetting. If he can stay healthy for the season’s entirety, Johnson very well could end up as a top 10 fantasy WR. If you have Najee Harris, you took him high enough you have to set & forget, but he is very much producing at a high RB2, borderline RB1 level. The only two set & forget fantasy guys on this offense are the only two I’m confidently starting this week.

Optimistic Starts

  • JuJu Smith-Schuster
  • James Washington

JuJu Smith-Schuster is an optimistic flex / low end WR2 for Week 5 for two main reasons. The first being a gut feeling, JuJu was visibly frustrated seemingly throughout the entire Green Bay Packers game. Look for the Steelers and Roethlisberger to get JuJu more involved in the offense. The second reason being, JuJu’s two career games vs the Broncos are 13 receptions, 189 receiving yards, 1 td & 7 receptions, 48 receiving yards respectively. That tallies to 48 fantasy points! James Washington is a deeper flex consideration if Chase Claypool misses a second straight week.

Not Yet

  • Pat Freiermuth
  • Eric Ebron
  • Ben Roethlisberger

No one falling into the “Not Yet” category do you want to start in fantasy. If you’re in a two QB league and desperate for QB play, Roethlisberger is a streaming option at best. Pat Freiermuth is an absolute stash in dynasty leagues, don’t wait too long.

Let’s dive into the Week 5 projections for the Steelers showdown with the Denver Broncos.
