Some interesting things to watch

A. Does DJ start practicing?
B. Do the steelers move Jpjr, BJ and Benton into full time starter roles
C. Is Gunner a Goner? And if so is Mims ready to take his roster spot?
D. What do they do to fix the O? Will they do something about Canada? Or maybe just bring in a extra voice on the offensive side?
There is also a possibility of a trade…. Several interesting options at C who are ufas next year could be pried off of a losing team if the Steelers really think that is a problem… (or they could try to illogically add to the D… )

Finally there is the rest of the Division who aren’t on Byes..

As for the division…
The Browns probably should be odds on favorites to win the division now because of how easy their schedule is compared to the rest of the division

They play SF next week, then take a road trip to Indy, then to Seattle…
This is the toughest part of their schedule and hopefully they tank it… because after that the only non division team they play with a winning record is Jacksonville in Cleveland…
They face us at home and Cinci and Baltimore on the road, but after that it is all dregs

Arizona
@Rams
@Denver
Chicago
@Houston
Jets

If they go 5-1 there and 1-2 in the division, lose to Jacksonville and win 1 of the next 3 games, that still puts them at 9 wins…and their D is good enough to win more… i gave them a lowball win total…

The Bengals just saved their season winning vs Arizona… their schedule gets really bad now… they only face two teams with losing records… Houston, who is better than expected, and Minnesota, who was expected to contend for their division and sucks… even if they swept us and won those two, that puts them at six wins, needing to win 3 or 4 of:

Indianapolis
Seattle
Buffalo
Cleveland
@KC
@SF
@Bal
@Jax

Baltimore does not have a great schedule left either.. but most of it is full of home games…but their travel
Is all pretty long travel..
they get all three division home games.. so that is something..
but next week they play the Titans in London,
Their final 4 road games are:
@Arizona
@LAChargers
@Jacksonville
@SF
They could split those easily, but thats three far west trips and a trip to a good Jags team in florida on top of the london trip

Their home schedule has
The RAMS
Lions
Seattle
Miami
And all three division foes

As for us… I’ve hated this schedule since it was released … we will come out of the bye with six road trips left, 2 of which are west coast trips, and three are division games…as well as a game vs Indy We also have 2 home Thursday night games. Which sucks…

Indy, Jacksonville, and Seattle are the only non division games with winning records, though Green bay is 2-2… there are no powerhouses left… which is probably bad for us… lol

Id probably put the chances of winning the division right now at
1. Browns
2. Ravens
3. Steelers
4. Bengals

They really need to look at C. You want Kenny to be able to stay in the pocket and throw over the middle, either bring in another C or move Daniels over. I probably would do both. You attack problems not just make due.

I would also replace Chukes with Dan Moore.

Benton would get more playing time.

I would look at replacing Sullivan with the newly acquired CB that should be up to playbook snuff by now.

Pat Pete would permanently be moved inside.

Heyward would get Washington's pass reps.

I would bring in someone to take over Canada's play calling seeing that it is obvious they won't replace him.

A Gunner would be a gonner.

A braver team would fire OC. Gunner should be gone. Warren should get majority of snaps. JPJ should be outside every down. But this is the Steelers so they will go 9-8 or 10-7

Definitely cut Gunner today. And, WTF happened to Cole between last year and this year? He was pretty good last year and terrible this year. When Davis is back, I'd give Herbig a looksie at C. I believe he is the backup.

The team can just keep Canada in the booth, wearing a headset that plays Taylor Swift tunes. He will have no role with the offense and can wear his "shocked face" whenever a play goes for more than 4 yards.

These are the only two that I have a small problem with.

1. Moore was playing like dogshit on the left and would really have to learn how to play RT pretty much on the fly. I know he took a few snaps there this preseason, but .... While Chukes has also been playing like **** on the right, I don't think I make that change based on Moore's unfamiliarity with the position. Now, if you move Moore to the swing tackle and he gradually earns the spot at RT in practice, etc., so be it.

2. Washington can't develop as a receiver if he's on the bench for pass plays. And, although I know Canada's playbook (ugh) doesn't utilize 2 TEs and a FB on the field at the same time, there are times when it should. Come out in that look and everyone is thinking run ... hit 'em with play action or some other pass play.

I don't think the Browns schedule is that easy. Arizona, Rams, Houston are not that bad. Denver is improving somewhat. Chicagos offense hasn't been too bad lately, and the Jets are up and down. The Browns haven't been tearing it up and i see alot of those games as 50/50 games.

I disagree on Warren. Going into this game Najee was averaging almost a yard more per carry. If we get a new play caller he may just look like what he supposed to. Better yet lets get them on the field together more. Warren is a good blocker.

Kinda like our president.

Fine line inbetween development and actual needed right now production. With that O I lean on the right now as they can use all the help they can get.

Moore has been playing poorly at LT but he was better than Chuks ever was. Imagine if he was still at LT. So, if Moore can improve upon Chuks even somewhat at RT, it would be a win. Chuks looks to be getting worse along with much of our OL. I'm not sure what is going on with the OL where they seem to be regressing from last year unless you look at coaching. What's changed?

Washington needs to work with our Strength & Conditioning Coach in the off-season and move to tackle.

I dont see him becoming a traditional tight end.

They haven't even attempted to use Washington in the redzone and he was a stud down there all through the preseason. He catches just about anything you throw his way. I don't get why they haven't tried him in 2 games with Muuth out. It was a perfect opportunity. Then again, they don't get to the redzone very much.

And they don't use the middle of the field much either. So, that limits Washington's opportunities (growth) as a receiver. I don't get it. The kid's received 3 targets on the year and, while he's only caught one, I think that's the only one that was catchable. Also, on that single reception, he picked up a 1st down by getting 9 YAC. A competent offensive staff would explore that type of production a little more and nurture the development of the player.

Good post. Well thought-out.
...well, maybe not completely well thought-out.

THE BROWNS AINT WINNIN NO DIVISION!!!!

Maybe it's anecdotal. The offense looks a hell of a lot more dangerous with him out there. Najee is the same **** every time.
