Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) on Tuesday said Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) should resign in the wake of allegations the senator groped women without their consent.

“From what I know, he should resign. And there will be more of these cases, and we want to make sure that the women feel supported and come forward,” Moulton said on “Meet The Press Daily.”

"We ought to be setting the tone for the country for how women who don’t’ have famous bosses who are not at big news organizations or in politics or in the movie industry can come forward with these issues as well,” he added.

'Enough is enough'

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) on Wednesday said that it was time for her embattled colleague, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), to resign.

Gillibrand said that the flood of stories coming out about powerful men sexually harassing women mean it is time to start drawing lines and she simply could not exempt Franken from facing consequences.

“While Senator Franken is entitled to have the Ethics Committee conclude its review, I believe it would be better for our country if he sent a clear message that any kind of mistreatment of women in our society isn’t acceptable by stepping aside to let someone else serve,” Gillibrand wrote.

If he resigns, Franken would be the second member of Congress to step aside amid a recent reckoning over sexual harassment on Capitol Hill. Facing multiple accusations of misconduct around female aides, Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) stepped down on Tuesday after more than half a century in Congress.

A wave of Democratic female senators on Wednesday called on Franken to step aside, and a handful of male Democratic senators quickly joined the call. Within an hour of the first push from a senator for Franken to step down, more than 10 Democratic senators joined the chorus.

A new accuser stepped forward on Wednesday morning, telling Politico that Franken tried to forcibly kiss her in 2006 after a taping of his radio show. The former Democratic congressional aide joined several other women who have accused Franken of groping or forcibly kissing them.
